Our Targets 2017—2019:
Reading
Increase the percentage of Pre-Primary to Year 2 students achieving at and above On-Entry progression
point indicators in semester 2 each year (PP—1.0, Y1—1.5, Y2—2.0).
Increase the reading growth of every stable cohort Year 3 by 2.5 NAPLAN bands when tested again in
Year 5.
Writing & Conventions
Increase the percentage of Pre-Primary to Year 2 students achieving at and above On-Entry progression
point indicators in semester 2 each year (PP—1.0, Y1—1.5, Y2—2.0).
100% of students achieving above national minimum standard in writing (NAPLAN) for year 3 and year 5.
Mathematics
Increase the percentage of Pre-Primary to Year 2 students achieving at and above On-Entry progression
point indicators in semester 2 each year (PP—1.0, Y1—1.5, Y2—2.0).
Increase the percentage of Year 5 students achieving NAPLAN Numeracy bands of 6 and above.

Our School
Dumbleyung Primary
School is an innovative
and distinctive level 3
primary school situ-
ated in the heart of the
Wheatbelt town of
Dumbleyung, 290km
south east of Perth.
The school was originally established in 1911 and for over a
century has been providing quality public education in a rural
setting to the local students and their families of the greater
agricultural region.

Focus 3: Effective Leadership
Staff and students at Dumbleyung Primary School will develop their leadership and accountability skills through
various roles and responsibilities that make positive contributions to our school.
We Will;
Embed our school Values into daily operations ( Learning, Excellence, Equity & Care)
Principal to provide instructional leadership
Develop teacher leadership through identifying curriculum leaders and cost centre managers
Allocate time to curriculum development using the capacity and skills of the staff
All staff to impart professional learning in a coaching capacity to other school staff
Develop a student leadership team with clearly defined roles , giving students opportunities to grow their
capacity to lead
Provide opportunities for students to take on leadership roles within the management and daily running of
the school (e.g. assemblies, greeting visitors, fundraising, etc.)
Uphold high standards of behaviour
Maintain staff and student wellbeing and safety

Strategic Plan
This strategic plan is designed to support the improvement of student outcomes at Dumbleyung Primary
School. It will guide decision-making over the next three years and has been carefully created in
consultation with staff and is reflective of data analysis as well as staff, student and community feedback.

Focus 1: Success For All Students
Our goal is to enable all students at Dumbleyung Primary School to reach their potential by differentiating the
curriculum to cater for all student needs in a multi age group setting.
We Will;
Implement the School operational plan and ensure a whole school approach to teaching and learning
Have a strong focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, reading and writing in the early years
Provide curriculum differentiation, extension and enrichment opportunities for students
Focus on early intervention: Kindergarten and Pre-Primary literacy and numeracy
Integrate new and developing technologies into curriculum delivery eg. Eboards, iPads, Robotics

Focus 2: High Quality Teaching
Dumbleyung Primary School Staff are committed to high quality teaching and building their capacity to deliver
quality learning opportunities within a safe and inclusive learning environment through professional reflection and
feedback.
We Will;
All staff open to growth and reflection opportunities for the purpose of refining their pedagogical practice
Peer and Principal observation to be undertaken by all teaching staff with written feedback against AITSL standards in a view of continuous improvement
Maintain staff growth through performance management & engagement in professional learning
