OUR SET IN STONE LOCATIONS!

Inner City.Loughborough Police Station.Queens Park, Loughborough.Loughborough Town Square.Tylers Department Store, Loughborough

(Shop.)

What Locations are we going to use?

Emilia has a friend who lives in the type of establishment best suited for our opening sequence (see picture above) that we are going to use.

The main reason we chose to use this location is that it is one of the areas that people from our questionnaire/ focus group wanted to see in our opening sequence.

In addition, these types of locations are part of the conventions of social realism and are also stereotypically associated with the working class. Furthermore, using these locations will allow our target secondary audience from the ‘E’ income bracket to seek personal identity.

Inner City...

One of the more prominent locations in our narrative is the Loughborough Police Station.

We chose to possibly use this location as it is realistic, which is what we want in our narrative, as our film is social realism. Furthermore, this location will keep our target audience entertained and interested in Laura’s (the protagonists’) story.

NOTE **: We are still waiting conformation for this location, and will change this location slide accordingly to the stations’ decision.

**Police Station...**

Another key location we will be using is Queen’s Park, Loughborough (pictured right).

We chose this location as it is relatively near where most of our actors live (i.e. It’s more practical) and furthermore, park areas are also the types of environments that both our focus group and questionnaire candidates wanted to see in our opening sequence.

Also, this park location will be a good setting for the some of the flashbacks that we are including in our narrative, as the location will help sufficiently supply exposition i.e. A back story into Laura’s life.

Queens Park, Loughborough...

Keeping our locations fairly close to each other enables more filming to get completed in one day and is also more realistic (as gangs of this type would tend to remain in the same sort of area).

Moreover, these sorts of locations are where many people meet up for either social or business related events and subsequently, this Loughborough/local location is what we need in order to fully represent and highlight the ideologies, such as the importance of community, within our narrative.

Loughborough Town Square...

The final location that we will be using is Tylers Department Store in Loughborough.

The reason we chose to use this location is the practicality (as this shop to close to where we will be filming other shots) and also, I know the staff members there as I work there every Saturday and therefore, this location is quite reliable.

This location is in addition realistic to the type of shops that may be in the surrounding area of the set neighbourhood. Furthermore the area is occasionally victim to crime and consequently, this location is perfect for our narrative.

Moreover, the shop represents the affluence which is out of reach fro our characters. However, this is represented by society as a mark of success.
