The oval is progressing well. The students have enjoyed seeing all the earthmoving equipment in action! Our local MP Vicki Ward will visit, meet with some of the students and then officially “Turn the sod” on the oval. The timetable has been altered for the day with an earlier lunch time. The whole school will view this event. Please notify the school if you do not wish your child to be photo-graphed.
STAFF CARPARK
The Outlook Crescent carpark is strictly staff only from 7.45am—5.00pm Monday to Friday. Please ensure you do not use this carpark during these times. This does not apply to parents requiring wheelchair access.

SCHOOL COUNCIL
Parent report – School Council
Introducing….Elizabeth (Liz) De Cesare (new school council member).
Hi there! I’m Liz and I have two daughters at Sherbourne Primary School - Caila De Cesare 3/4K and Bianca De
Cesare 1/2M.
What I love most about Sherbourne is the dedication of our staff. All our educators hold a sincere interest and
focus on the well-being and success of all our kids to ensure they achieve at their very best, educationally, emo-
tionally and as valued members of our community.
The reason I joined school council was because I believe we are only as good as the knowledge we have and the
choices we make. With this in mind I want to help facilitate our educators, and councillors, to achieve the very
best outcomes for our kids.
School Council Update
School council last met on the 15th May 2019. Some of the key things discussed included:
1. The Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) 2019 was presented for approval. This plan follows Sherbourne’s School Strategic Plan – which sets out our roadmap of priorities towards school improvements over the next 4 years. Some things covered in the AIP include how SPS plans to maximize the learning growth of every stu-dent with a focus on Mathematics and English and how SPS plans to activate students agency in their learn-ing. As president, Mark Philips will endorse this online and it will then be placed on our website for our school community to view.
2. Three Policies were presented for approval and will be added to the website: Sherbourne PS Parent Dispute Policy, Sherbourne PS Complains Policy and the Sherbourne PS Visitors Policy.
Finally, the Education subcommittee considered how they might promote SPS to our community, in a bid to in-

DO IT IN A DRESS
Hi we’re Ella and Olivia, we are in grade 6 this year and we wrote to School Council to request their approval to participate in the DO IT in A Dress fundraiser. We are wearing “the do it in a dress”, school dress and leggings in-stead of the school uniform for 1 month. However, if we are representing the school we will wear school uniform on those occasions.
We are raising money and awareness that we need to be grateful for school and that we can access a good educa-tion. We are doing this to support girls who don’t have access to education in Sierra Leone and Uganda.
Goals!
Ella – Send 2 girls to school.
Olivia – Send 2 girls to school
It costs $300 to educate one girl.
Why?
It is really important to us that everyone has the right to go to school. A girl born in Sierra Leone is more likely to be a child bride then to finish high school. That is not right or at all fair. By wearing our school dress, we hope to raise awareness.
Money raised!
70% of the money raised goes to program expenses like school materials, Books, Bags and building materials.
18% of the money goes to fundraising expenses like Marketing, Salaries for fundraising staff, Ambassador Pro-gram, Online fundraising platform, Dresses and posters.
12% of money raised goes to administration for example Public liability insurance, Printing, Stationary, Merchant Fees and proportion of salaries .
It will be optional for Sherbourne students and families to support this fundraiser but we encourage you to visit the website to find out more.
We started wearing our dresses on the 5th of June and will wear then to the 5th of July (School Holidays includ-ed)
DID YOU KNOW?
Over 130 million girls around the world are denied an education.
LIMITED OPTIONS Without an education a girl can remain stuck in the cycle of poverty, and struggle to earn an
income or look after herself and her family.
BUT EDUCATION CHANGES EVERYTHING
A girl's income increases by between 10-25% for every year she stays in school. She'll get married later and
have a smaller, healthier family when she’s ready. Her health, economic status, and future family all benefit.
Kind Regards
