Beloved in Christ,
God is good, all the time! All the time, God is good!!
We begin a brand new year with gratitude. We thank God for all that happened
through our ministry here at Pitt Pres in 2015. Our youth led us to reach out into
our neighborhood and serve in the name of Christ. Our fellowship meals have
been growing as have coffee fellowship after church. The Christmas Offering
yielded over $9700. Thank the Lord!
As we begin a brand new year, I want to thank you for your part in this ministry.
I thank you for praying, for being here, for listening to God’s leading and for
giving to support this ministry.
2016 will be a year of change at Pitt Pres. Some of our staff are leaving and
moving on to new ventures. New staff and new programs will be launched. We
will be working toward a new normal. In the midst of all this change, our mis-
sion continues: To Love God, Know Christ, Care for one another and Joyfully
share the good news of Jesus Christ.
Our theme this year is the fourth line of our mission statement…. Joyfully Share
the Good News of Jesus Christ. There are many ways in which we can do
this. This year, I want us to focus on what I call Side Door ministries. Put sim-
ply, the front door of the church is often the worship gathering and Christian
education programs. Side doors are those activities that do not relate directly
with worship or Christian education but have the unique ability to put believers
in touch with the larger community. Side Doors open through shared felt needs,
fun hobbies, interests and mutual experiences. In Side Door ministries, we en-
gage in these activities we enjoy with interested unchurched people in the com-
munity. Here, relationships are born, trust is built and life is shared. When the
opportunity presents itself, you will be there to offer a word of encouragement
and invite these new friends to an appropriate helpful event. Imagine with me
how Side Doors might help us joyfully share the good news of Jesus Christ.
People need the Lord!!
So what are your felt needs, hobbies and interests? Might one of your favorite
hobbies or cherished interests become a Side Door of Pittsburg Presbyterian
Church? Which of your personal experiences have uniquely qualified you to
support others going through something similar? In God’s economy, no experi-
ence goes to waste. May we all hear God’s call to joyfully share the good news
of Jesus Christ.
In Christ,
K.O. Noonoo
