STEWARDSHIP by the BOOK-July 19, 2020 Good stewards in a parish are like the yeast in today’s Gospel. Their selfless gifts of time and talent help the parish grow and thrive, and their example inspires others to become good stewards, too.
STEWARDSHIP by the BOOK-July 26, 2020 “The law of Your mouth is to me more precious than thousands of gold and silver pieces,” says the Psalmist today. Does the amount of my offering suggest that I could honestly say the same?
NEW TO THE PARISH Welcome! Please call (973) 663-0211 & register to become a member of our active parish.

LIFT YOUR SAILS Driving around the parish and town each day, I get a few glimpses of the lake from the road. One of my favorite sights is that of the sailboat gliding along over the calm blue waters. This image has become a very meaningful one in my own spiritual journey. It reminds me that the challenge of being a follower of Christ today calls us to “lift our sails” meaning that each of us has something special to do with our lives. We are called to pull up the anchors that we have put in place and respond to Christ’s invitation to “Follow Him.”
Jesus invites us to set out on our journey aware that He will always be with us and we need to only keep “our sails up” so that the Holy Spirit can fill them. He continually reaches out to us and offers us numerous opportunities to respond. We just need to listen to His invitation – one which comes to us via the events, people and circumstances of our lives. We need only dare to give up our false security, controls and certitudes and once again embrace a life of faith, trust, love and prayer. It is indeed a risky task to follow and put all of our confidence in Him, but it is the only way.
When we lift our sails and pull up our anchors God will carry us through the storms we encounter in life and lead us to a safe harbor. The Spirit will fill our sails with a fresh breeze and enable us to behold the beauty of the lake, the skies, the stars and even life itself.
Let us remember that “the winds of God’s grace are always blowing,” but we must make the effort to raise the sails.
May your summer be filled with many moments of “happy sailing.”
Sincerely in Christ, Father Chris

Monthly Contributions: Due to Covid‐19 and the closing of our church from March 15th through June 13th the collections for the period of March 1st thru June 30th were down approximately 27%. Collections (envelopes) were: March – $14,477; April $8,893; May $9,772; June $20,641 – totaling $53,783. (includes Easter). We Share for the entire period of 3/1 – 6/30 was $23,859.00. These amounts total $77,642‐ for an 18 week time frame. This gave us a weekly total of $4,313.00 which is $1,687 below the $6,000 needed to keep the parish running smoothly. It also has helped that the utilities were less with the buildings being closed. We are very grateful to those who continued and caught up with their giving and faithfully support of our parish. God bless you.
A SUMMER PRAYER Father, Creator of all, thank You for summer! As I continue to follow social distancing during the Pandemic, thank You for the warmth of the sun and the increased daylight. Thank You for the beauty I see all around me and for the opportunity to enjoy Your creation. Thank You for the time I have to be with my friends and family, and for the more casual pace of the summer season. Draw me closer to You this summer. Teach me how I can pray no matter where I am or what I am doing. Warm my soul with the awareness of Your presence and light my path with Your Word and Counsel. As I enjoy all of Your wonders, create in me a pure heart and a hunger and thirst for You. Draw me nearer to You, Father. As I enjoy the activities of summer, let me, above all, find my enjoyment and satisfaction in You. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
