    PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

    Dear Parents/guardians,

I hope all is well. A very happy New Year to you and all your loved ones.

Welcome to January, the month of Courage. The virtue of courage helps us

to take the initiative to make changes in our lives and/ or to accept changes

brought before us - not an easy thing. Over the next few weeks, we will once

again be teaching the students to stand up for what is right and not what is

popular. They will be encouraged to ask for direction when faced with

difficulties and will be provided with strategies to help deal with the

everyday challenges of living and spending time with other people. One of

those strategies will be the ability to think of the ‘other person’, and in so

doing, temper our words with mercy and understanding. They will also be

told that being scared is okay but not doing something about it is not. We

need your support as always in the teaching and support of our children. All

the very best, and may this year be better than the last one.

    Sincerely,

    G. Danfulani

Virtue: Courage “Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid,

    for I am your God.”

    ME to WE

During the month of December OLV’s Me to We team has been busy setting up a Christmas shop to help raise money for India. The store sold many items from ornaments, jewelry, key chains and mugs just to name a few. The students were surprised by the out pouring response and generosity of the students. The total they raised for India is $ 846.20. Way to go ME to WE team!!

  • OLV STUDENT NEWS… Our students have been busy! Here is a snapshot of December.

  • 2019 - 2020 ∙ ROOTED IN CHRIST: WE BELONG, WE BELIEVE, WE BECOME

  • DROP OFF/KISS & RIDE

    • Please remember that safety trumps convenience when dropping off students at school.

    • Drop off and a 10-minute parking limit is available on Guestville Ave.

    • The busiest time for drop off is between 8:20am-8:30 am.

    • Supervision in the yard begins at 8 am.

    School Yard Safety

    Parent/Guardian we ask for your

    support of ensuring the students

    safety during morning drop off.

We ask that parents do not stay

in the school yard and wait for

the bell to ring. Rather drop off

your child as there is supervision

    in the yard.

    Thank you for your continued

    support.

    Bus Loading Area

Parents please do not block the bus

loading zone or on the right hand of

the street at the end of the day. Our

busses arrive early and if cars are

blocking them, they will not be able

to park, which will affect the bus

    loading.

    Balls in the school yard

Due to the number of head injuries that occur during recess in the school yard, hard soccer balls and footballs

ARE NOT ALLOWED. Basketballs are only allowed by the basketball nets. Please help keep our students safe.

    Concussions are serious.

    Winter Clothing

    Parents please ensure your

    child wears winter clothing

    such as coats, snow pants,

    boots, mittens and hats as

    the students will be outside,

    unless otherwise directed by

    the school board. Please

    LABEL all your child’s

    belongings.

except when there is a scheduling conflict with mandatory school board events or any other

extenuating circumstance. Please join us in the school’s Atrium for our next meeting on

Jan.15th, 2020 at 6:30 PM if you can, your voice and ideas, plus time really matters.

    Home/School Connection

Questions to ask your child when supporting them with

    homework:

    • What are you working on?

    • What are you learning?

    • Is it challenging or not? Why?

    • What do you do when you are stuck on a task?

    • How do you know you are on the right track?

    • What resources do you use at school to complete this

    kind of work?

    • What resources do you need at home to complete this

    kind of work?

    Reflections for a parent

    • Does my child have a quiet space to complete

    her/his homework?

    • Have I set the framework for homework routines?

    • Do I monitor my child’s homework for completion?

    • Can I give my child feedback based on the learning

    goal and success criteria provided?
