What happens next? Where to from here?

The words of the Proclaim 2018 presenters continue to echo in our ears and impact

our hearts as we feel the urging of the Holy Spirit to step out in faith. In his opening

comments, Archbishop Mark Coleridge said “ PROCLAIM is about pressing the

REFRESH button”.

What do we need to refresh?

Is there anything that needs to change?

What else can we do, as a people of God, to build His kingdom and truly live

the message of the Gospel?

This weekend, members of our parish community who attended the Proclaim

Conference, are meeting to share their reflections on the impact of the conference,

and to discuss how we as a community can respond to the call to renewal.

Almost every speaker referred to the 2013 apostolic exhortation of Pope Francis

“ Evangelii Gaudium – The Joy of the Gospel”. The opening comments of this

document leave no doubt as to our call to action ...

“The Joy of the Gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus. Those who

accept his offer of salvation are set free from sin, sorrow, inner emptiness and loneliness.

With Christ joy is constantly born anew. In this Exhortation I wish to encourage the Christian

faithful to embark upon a new chapter of evangelization marked by this joy, while pointing

out new paths for the Church’s journey in years to come” (#1)

I look forward to every member of our parish community joining in future

discussions as we “refresh” our parish. I invite you to be part of the opportunities to

not just talk about change, but to be part of the refreshing change in our parish.

As Cardinal John Dew challenged us at Proclaim – just lead from where you are –

JUST BEGIN! We pray that the Holy Spirit will guide us as we begin ...

PRAY FOR RAIN:

Loving Father, protector and provider of everything created, we pray for Australia and its people in this time of drought, for those on farms and in

rural areas deprived of harvests and livestock, livelihood and hope. May

God send rain to water the earth and help for those in need. Amen.
