LITURGY

Seeking God, Encountering God

Rosary Intention for Dec. 22nd: Remain Calm and Do Not Fear

Rosary Intention for Dec. 29th: Greet All Brothers and Sisters

as a Holy Family

Fourth Sunday of Advent Matthew 11:2-11

The stage is set for Christmas morning, as spoken by an Angel, Joseph is told not to be afraid

to take Mary, his wife, into his house. It is through the Holy Spirit that the child

was conceived in her womb. Joseph trusted his dream.

The Nativity of the Lord Luke 2:1-14

As the mystical Body of Christ, we may think of ourselves as

being carried in Mary’s womb. God is doing something new this Christmas,

we are born into newness, ever more deeply into the life of Christ.

The Holy Spirit is upon us.

The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Matthew 2:13-15

Joseph rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed for Egypt. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph were political refugees.

They feared for their lives. Let us, as disciples, identify with the outcast,

and afflicted, for that is how the Holy Family lived. What has been the most difficult experience

you have encountered as a member of your family? What helped you make it through this time?

Blessed Christmas Season! -- Sr. Carrie

Discipleship … Faith In Action

Stewardship Thought for December 22nd

“When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home.” - Matthew 1:24

Put our complete trust in the Lord without expecting anything in return. Strive to put God first in all things and follow Him wherever He may lead us. As we prepare for the birth of our Lord, pray for the

strength and courage to be a model of discipleship, just as Joseph was.

Stewardship Thought for December 29th

“Wives, be subordinate to your husbands… Husbands, love your wives… Children, obey your parents in everything… Fathers, do not provoke your children…”

- Colossians 3:18-21

God wants us to be happy! Instead of looking at the Ten Commandments as being restrictive and telling us what we can’t do, look at them as guides for living a joy-filled and peaceful life.

Most of our problems arise when we put our own needs first or spend most of our time trying to acquire “things.” Instead, try putting God first in all things. Ask Him how He wants you to use your gifts.

Actuals Requirements

Week Ending December 14th & 15th, 2019 $ 27,295 $ 25,660

Fiscal YTD (07/01/19 to present) $381,665 $420,530

In this season of gift-giving to family, friends, and those less fortunate, we hope you will also consider your gift to Our Lady of the Lake Church. It is through the donations of every individual and family in the parish that we are able to carry on our work. Your Sunday contributions are needed for everything from

special programs to basic operating expenses. Our Lady of the Lake deeply appreciates the efforts of parishioners to make consistent donations throughout the year. To assist you, we provide an

electronic-giving option for both regular offerings and one-time gifts. For details, contact Rhonda Eurich, Parish Administrator, at [email protected] or (952) 472-8201. Thank you.

Stepping Forward in Faith Capital Campaign Donation Information

1. A separate bank account has been set up for accounting purposes. 2. Checks should be made payable to SFF (Stepping Forward in Faith). 3. Please keep Campaign Donations separate from the regular Offering. 4. Donations can be put in the Collection Basket during Mass, but we ask that you use a separate

December, 2019

A Message from the Principal – Becky Kennedy Five years ago at this time, I was eight months pregnant with our third child. I wanted nothing more than to meet

our newest bundle and finish the pregnancy. However, that last month of actively waiting is so important for the

development of our baby and us; just like our waiting for Christmas. This month of preparation is so important for

us to further develop into the person that God has planned for us. I need to remember that Jesus came to the earth

to save us, not bring us presents in a red bag.

As a school, during Advent, we will be doing our own version of the giving tree. Although, instead of taking

something off the tree to purchase for someone in need, we will be adding ornaments throughout the month sharing

our acts of service. Is your family serving others this holiday season? Please share, we would love to fill our

PACE Center bulletin board.

Students hear me say we are all different and that is good! We each have our gifts and our challenges and we are

called to love each other knowing both. God gives us what we need to do his work. May this season of preparation

be what you need it to be to accomplish God’s work.

Kindergarten Round-Up All prospective kindergarten students and their parents are invited to join us for Kindergarten Round-up on

Monday, January 13th, from 6-7:30pm. Discover the magic of OLL Kindergarten! Meet Mrs. Erdman and

Mrs. Davis, learn about Personalized Learning, our Faith and Values Based Curriculum, and our Commitment to

Serving Others. Light dinner included. Childcare available for siblings! RSVP to Kassie Ricke

at [email protected].

Preschool Round-Up Join us for a morning of fun with the Minnesota Zoomobile! Your kiddos will love learning about the World of

Wildlife program on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 9:00am while you have the opportunity to learn

about preschool at OLL! Invite your friends, it is sure to be a morning they won't want to miss!

December Performances and Celebrations

The week of December 16th was busy for the Preschool-8th grade students. On December 18th, our K-6th grade

students went to Minnetonka Shores for Mass and sang Christmas Carols. On December 19th, the students had

their Christmas Concert performances. On December 20th, the 4-8th grade band and choir students shared their

musical talents with others at the Eden Prairie Mall.

Culver’s Night

The 8th grade class is going to be sponsoring a Culver’s Share night with proceeds going to their mission trip. It is

Wednesday, January 15th, from 4-8pm. Culver’s will give a percentage of the sales to OLL for the mission trip.

The percentage depends on how much they bring in. It is a great community night having dinner with other OLL

families. Please consider supporting the 8th graders. Plus you don’t have to cook!
