Father Bullock Annual Memorial Lecture Please join us this coming Saturday, April 29, at 6:00PM in O’Connell Hall, which are this year’s date, time and place of our annual Memorial Lecture in memory of our beloved late Pastor, Fr. Robert W. Bullock. In conjunction with Fr. Bob’s strong emphasis on ecumenism and interfaith, our speaker this year will be the Reverend Rodney Petersen of the Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries, which is based in Newton, MA. Rev. Rodney’s topic will be "Bridging Global Religious Divides" in reflection upon the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation and its pertinence to our lives as Christians today. Refreshments will be served.

Join us in praying for and celebrating our young people as they prepare to receive the Sacraments of Initiation:

We have journeyed for 40 days through Lent with Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving. Now, we celebrate not only on Easter Sunday but for the 50 days of the Easter Season, culminating on Pentecost, June 4th.

During this joyous season, we will celebrate the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation). Children will be welcomed into the OLOS family at baptisms throughout the season. First Eucharist will be celebrated on May 13th, 14th, 20th and 21st, with Confirmation occurring on May 19th. All year long our second graders, tenth graders, their teachers and families, along with parishion-ers, have been preparing for these important more intense moments of grace. Our second and tenth graders have participated in many classes and a retreat each. Confirmation students have also embarked on Service Trips throughout the year, as well as embraced reflection upon their experiences. May the community's active presence and participation at these celebrations cause all of us to reflect on the gifts of the Spirit and grace in our own lives and in the life of our parish community. Please join us in praying for our youth, from the tiniest to those on the verge of adulthood.

Children’s Book Drive

Dr. Kitty O’Hare is a cantor and parishioner at OLOS Parish. She is also physician at the Brigham & Women’s Family Care Associates that provides care to families from low-income neighborhoods in Bos-ton and surrounding towns including Brockton and Randolph. The Reach Out and Read Program in her practice provided new books to every child from 6 months to 5 years old and was a way to increase liter-acy in the families. The state funding for Reach Out and Read was cut this year. Christian Services Commission is running a two week book drive from April 22 thru May 7 to help Kitty fill the gap in new books created by the budget cuts. If you would like to help, please leave books in the boxes provided in the church and at each of the halls. NEW books only appropriate for ages 6 months to 5 years Non English languages are welcomed (Spanish, Haitian, Creole, Portuguese , etc.) No sensitive topics such as death, medical issues, religion/holidays or divorce You can find more information about the Reach Out and Read program if you have any questions, please contact Ginny Devlin at 781-784-3516.

From Senior Deacon Mike:

We have begun the fifty days that comprise the Easter season. Over this period the church offers excerpts from John’s Gospel. Reflect on the power of the closing paragraph of the Good News today. “Now, Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples that are not written in this book. But these are written that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through this belief you may have life in his name.”

Thank you to all the OLOS children, teens and adults who volunteered

at Cradles to Crayons on April 9th. The team of volunteers sorted and

cleaned household items, toys, books and clothes for families in need. A

special thank you to Kris Camilli for leading the service opportunity!

We would like to thank the following who served various ministerial roles during six services of Lenten Evening Prayer: Celeste Bernardo, Tish Blain, Tanya Bollenbach, Daesik Cha ,Teresa Coda, Kathleen Crawford, Ann Marie Dion, Mark, Silvia and Cristina Dudziak, Joe Favazza, Miguel Antal von Fedak, Brandt Henderson, Joe Kaigler, Monica, Ben and David LaFond, Victor Manela, Marie Martin, John Maslanka, Mike Methot, Sister Rosemary Mulvihill, Monica O'Brien, Kitty O'Hare, Carol Greve-Philips, Ted Philips, Ann Marie Rosa, Deacon Frank Tremblay.

We are grateful for all the faithful who celebrated Evening Prayer, coming out on cold winter nights during some awful weather. See you in Advent!

Welcome to Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. We encourage all our parishioners who worship with us to register. Our registry is a vital source of connection we use to communicate and build community. Please call the rectory, 781-784-2265, or return this form to the rectory via the collection basket, mail, or in person. Thank you.

A Change in Trash and Recycling Practices is Coming. Did you ever stop to consider where our trash goes or how much a Sharon household generates yearly? While these may seem to be incidental questions, as sustainability becomes a set of ideas we all must consider, there are some alarming answers regarding our town. For example, while 148 cities and towns across Massachusetts have a form of SMART* programming that supports the

lowering of trash output, more and better recycling, and the saving of household costs over time, nothing like this exists in

Sharon. To understand this proposal, we invite you to the upcoming Town-Wide SSC TRASH Forum on April 26, 2017 taking

place at the Community Center at 7 PM. Here you will learn what this proposal is, its effects on several households who have

been interviewed by SSC, and the excellent outcomes we can expect in health, finances, and social responsibility over time.
