Dear Parishioners: I hope that you are doing great during this challenging times.

Today I would like to share some encouraging news. To-day, I would like to talk about the tangible/ material things. It is almost one year since Fr. Christopher and myself ar-rived at this beautiful community. We, along with Fr. Mar-io, all our deacons, parish and school staff, committed pa-rishioners, donors and volunteers began last year with all the energy to make our parish a better house of prayer for giving Glory to God. Even in the midst of this pandemic, we haven’t stopped working for you and we continue mak-ing improvements for our beautiful parish.

The following is an end-of-year review of some of the ma-terial things that we have done for better serving you. First days after arriving we began fixing five A/C units: Parish [ main A/C unit], Parish Hall [2 units], and school [4th grade and 6th grade units]; We also renewed the parish hall window blinds; installed a modern lighting system at the exterior of the parish for a better look; planted new agaves and flowers on the exterior of the parish to improve our aesthetics; painted almost all the property: Parish top sides, interior and exterior of the parish hall, Notre Dame Center, remodeled parish offices and rectory, upgraded our obso-lete computer systems for providing better services to our parishioners, renewed and fixed many doors, added ten no-trespassing signs around the property for the security of our parishioners; wired the top of the basketball court for avoiding pigeons, some of the pews of the Capilla were restored, created a new office for our new assistant princi-pal, lowered expenses with companies we hired [in pro-gress], and other small improvements.

Finally, I think you will be excited for some of the upcom-ing projects that are coming and which I will share with you in the next letter.

So I would like to thank you for your love, support and generous heart. Together we are doing the impossible and working hard for bringing people back to God.

We are joyful in the midst of these challenging times be-cause we want to make our parish ready for your return.

May God bless you; may our blessed mother intercede for you and take some extra precautions.

Espero que se encuentren bien durante estos tiempos difíciles que

estamos pasando.

Hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes algunas noticias alentado-ras. Me gustaría empezar hablando sobre las cosas tangibles/

materiales. Hace casi un año que el P. Christopher y yo llegamos a esta hermosa comunidad. Nosotros, junto con el p. Mario, todos nuestros diáconos, personal parroquial y escolar, feligreses com-

prometidos, donantes y voluntarios comenzamos el año pasado con todo el entusiasmo para hacer, de nuestra parroquia, una me-

jor casa de oración para dar gloria a Dios. Incluso en medio de esta pandemia, no hemos dejado de trabajar para usted y segui-

mos haciendo mejoras para embellecer a nuestra hermosa parro-quia.

La siguiente lista es un resumen de fin de año de algunas de las

cosas importantes que hemos hecho para brindarle a usted y su familia un mejor servicio. Los primeros días, después de haber llegado, comenzamos arreglando cinco unidades de refrigeración

que necesitaban atención de urgencia: en la Parroquia [una uni-dad principal], Salón parroquial [2 unidades] y escuela [unidades

de 4to y 6to grado]; También renovamos las persianas de las ven-tanas del salón parroquial; se instaló un sistema de iluminación

moderno en el exterior de la parroquia para dar una mejor apa-riencia; plantamos nuevos agaves y flores en el exterior de la parroquia para mejorar nuestra estética parroquial; se pintó casi

toda la propiedad: los lados superiores de la parroquia, el interior y el exterior del salón parroquial, el centro de Notre Dame, se

remodelaron las oficinas parroquiales junto con la rectoría, he-mos actualizado nuestros sistemas informáticos obsoletos para

brindar a nuestros feligreses un mejor servicio, renovamos y arre-glamos muchas puertas por toda la propiedad, agregamos diez

letreros de no-traspasar alrededor de la propiedad para la segu-ridad de nuestros feligreses; cableamos el techo cobertor de la

cancha de baloncesto para evitar que se aniden las palomas, se restauraron algunas bancas de la capilla con la ayuda generosa de un parroquiano, construimos una oficina nueva para nuestra nue-

va subdirectora de la escuela, bajamos gastos mensuales contra-tando nuevas compañías [sigue en progreso] y hemos hecho una

infinidad de pequeñas mejoras.

Finalmente, me gustaría compartirles que estarán entusiasmados con algunos de los próximos proyectos que están por venir y que

compartiré con ustedes en la próxima carta.

Con estos logros en el comienzo de este nuevo año fiscal, me gustaría agradecerles por su amor, apoyo y corazón generoso.

Juntos estamos haciendo lo imposible y trabajando duro para hacer que las personas regresen a Dios. Seguimos felices en me-

dio de estos tiempos difíciles porque queremos preparar nuestra parroquia lo mejor que se pueda para su regreso.

Jesus knows that the challenges a disciple of the Gospel will face in the world are real. He tells all of us point blank. “Do not be afraid.” There are many things we can fear as we attempt to live the gospel: unpopularity, being rebuked, rejection, anger, being challenged, having to defend ourselves, standing alone, insecurity, failure, and even death. Many folks know that their faith calls from them to live life more deliberately and radically but are cowards when it comes to putting it into practice. We easily justify sticking with the “acceptable” norms with which we are accustomed. These only serve to keep us stuck and mired in mediocrity. The Gospel-given flesh by the very presence of Christ-seeks to stretch, challenge, and change us. We do not have to fear anything, even death. Sometimes, living with our fears brings us a sadly disordered sense of comfort. Maybe what we really fear above all else is change.

Hay muchas cosas que po-demos temer al intentar vivir el Evangelio: impopularidad, ser reprendidos, rechazar, enojar, ser desafiados, tener que defendernos, estar solos, inseguridad, fracaso e incluso la muerte. Returning to our series on the Mass, we have come to one of the most meaningful moments. It is called the EPICLESIS. During the EPICLESIS the priest prays not only with his voice, but also with a gesture his hands make as he lifts them (palms down) high, and lowers them slowly with a downward motion calling down the Holy Spirit over the gifts of bread and wine we have brought, that they may become the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. An altar server rings the bell as if to say, Wake up! Pay attention! Something sacred is happening in the invisible world! As the priest prays, we ask the Holy Spirit to come down into our hearts, to dwell in our bodies that have become his tabernacle and to make Christ present in us like He did with Mary. Use your imagination to picture the fire of the Holy Spirit falling on the gifts of bread and wine at the Epiclesis.

Volviendo a nuestras series sobre la Misa, hemos llegado a uno de los momentos más significativos. Se llama la EPICLESIS. Durante la EPICLESIS, el sacerdote reza no solo con su voz, sino también con un gesto que hacen sus manos mientras las eleva (con las palmas hacia abajo) y las baja len-tamente invocando al Espíritu Santo sobre las ofrendas del pan y del vino que hemos traído, pa-ra que se conviertan en el Cuerpo y la Sangre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Un servidor del altar suena las campanas como si dijera: ¡Despierta! ¡Presta atención! ¡Algo sagrado está sucediendo en el mundo invisible! Mientras el sacerdote ora, le pedimos al Espíritu Santo que baje a nuestros corazones, que habite en nuestros cuerpos que se han convertido en su tabernáculo y que presente a Cristo en nosotros como lo hizo con María. Usa tu imaginación para ver el fuego del Espíritu Santo cayendo sobre los dones de pan y vino en la Epiclesis.
