Sunday Reflection Brothers and sisters, Last Saturday, thousands of people gathered at Grand Park and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the An-gels for a walk, rally and mass for the prolife movement. This whole day event focused on the impor-tance of protecting, defending and respecting life from conception to natural death. We heard from Mama Hill who takes in abused and forgotten children into her home and simply makes them feel loved. We heard from Nick Vujicic, who was born with no arms or legs, but is loving life as a hus-band, a father and as an inspiration of how God is constantly at work in our lives always giving us

hope. And we heard from Archbishop Gomez who spoke of the Truth and the dignity of every human being. Last Friday, on the unfortunate anniversary of Roe v. Wade, I received a long text that night from one of my friends who informed me that his baby son had died that morning at 6:45AM. Born with a heart defect which was known before birth, this fam-ily chose to defend and respect life and give their child the opportunity to live. I baptized him back in August. In the few months that they had with him, he made a powerful impact on the family and everyone around him. One life saved to remind us all of the beauty and dignity of every person and how we are to cherish and love one another. One life born into this world, and now, a precious life that went back home to his Creator, his Father, our God. May Baby Ethan rest in peace. The theme of life is all around us. With our campaign last weekend, we saw once again the importance of life as we were invited to reach out to the poorest amongst us. Deacon Paolo invited us not to look far and away, but in our own “backyard.” Thanks to those who supported the campaign. This weekend we enjoyed life at our school gala honoring the lives of two parishioners (Ester and Rodrigo Maranan) whose lives are an inspiration to us all. And next weekend, we have the chance to take care of the life God has given by visiting the Health Fair. We have been given life and each of us receive that dignity on the day we were created. I invite us all to continue to respect and defend life from conception to natural death and to build up a culture of life amongst our families, our neighborhood, our parish, our city, our county, and our world. It begins with us. Let us proclaim this Gospel of Life. Finally, we being the celebration of Catholic Schools Week today. I am proud of our parish school and I invite all fami-lies who wish to send their child to our parish school to talk to stop by for a visit. We are here to serve you. God bless everyone. Our Lady of Peace… pray for us.
