Preparing for Next Sunday The Baptism of the Lord

The first reading from Isaiah tells of the servant of God with whom God is pleased and upon whom God has put his spirit. God is well pleased with him, whom we know as Jesus. Acts tells the story of how God revealed that the good news was to be preached to all people, not just the Jews. Matthew tells of the beginning of Jesus’ ministry.

The Epiphany of the Lord Today we remember the three wise men from the East who came to pay homage to the infant Jesus, bringing Him rich gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The gifts we bring - our time and service and a share of what we earn from the work we do - are far more precious in His sight.

Confirmation Second Thursday Candidates Session Gifts of the Holy Spirit Session will be held on Thursday, January 9 at 7:00 PM in the Parish Hall. Candidates should bring a Bible, notebook, and favorite pen. Second Thursday Parents Meeting The January Parents Meeting will be held on Thurs-day, January 9, 8PM, Parish Hall. Information about the January/February schedule and fundraiser will be discussed. Confirmation Retreat deposits are due. If the parents are not able to attend, an adult repre-sentative may substitute in their absence. Please do not bring small children.

Confirmación Sesión de Candidatos de segundo Jueves La sesión de los dones del Espíritu Santo tendrá lugar el Jueves 9 de Enero a las 7:00 PM, en el Salón Parroquial. Los candidatos deben tener una Biblia, cuaderno y su lápiz favorito. Reunión de Padres de segundo Jueves La reunión de Padres en Enero se llevará a cabo el Jueves 9 de Enero a las 8 PM en el Salón Parroquial. Se analizará la información sobre el horario de Enero / Febrero y sobre la actividad de recaudación de fondos. Se deben hacer ya los depósitos para el Retiro Espiritual de Confirmación. Si los padres no pueden asistir a la reunión, pueden enviar a un adulto que los represente y así sustituirlos en su ausencia. Por favor, no llevar niños pequeños.
