will resume on Monday Nov 27th from 9AM-3PM. Thank you.

LITURGY CORNERThis week we celebrate the holiday of“Thanksgiving”. Saying grace at mealtime used tobe a special part of the day for many families.

Most days I’m sure that many are eating in the car as theydrive their children back and forth to their activities, in front ofthe TV or if you are like me and eat working on the computer.Whether you hold hands around the table or stand behind yourchair, it can be a meaningful experience not only for yourchildren, but for you too! Here is a grace that you can use foryour Thanksgiving dinner (either take turns reading it, or runoff copies for everyone). It’s entitled “Thankful for EachOther” written by Joanna Fuchs “Dear Lord, as we gathertogether around this table, laden with your plentiful gifts to us,we thank you for always providing what we really need and forsometimes granting wishes for things we don’t really need.Today, let us be especially thankful for each other - for familyand friends who enrich our lives in wonderful ways, even whenthey present us with challenges, let us join together now inpeaceful, loving fellowship, to celebrate Your love for us andour love for each other.”

YOUTH CHOIROnce again we will have a Youth Christmas Choirthat will sing at the 4PM Mass on Christmas Eve.Practices will be on Wed, 11/29, 12/6 and 12/13from 4-5PM. It is open for anyone in grades 2-8th.

For more info, please contact Lisa [email protected]

OLM/ND CYO BASKETBALLThe CYO Basketball season begins today. Good luckto all the young men and women of OLM & NotreDame parish families. Let us keep them in our prayersas they begin another season of basketball. Good

luck to all our teams.

FAITH AT HOMEThe Church’s social justice documents make itclear that Catholics are to have a “preferentialoption” for the poor. This means that in order tofollow Christ fully, we must make helping the poora priority Adults: What sacrifice am I willing to

make this week to serve people who are poor and inneed of my help? Children: How can I use my “ talents”this week to help people in need? A Family Perspective:In today's Gospel, Jesus talks about the correlationbetween faithfulness and responsibilities. Family lifeprovides many opportunities to illustrate this connectionfor children. As children prove themselves trustworthy, they can be trusted to take on greater responsibilities.Jesus teaches us in this parable that when we showourselves to be trustworthy in small matters, we can betrusted to participate in greater matters of responsibility. As you gather as a family, take some time to recall howeach child in the family has matured and can now betrusted with greater responsibilities.

______________________________________________

Dear friends, This week the spirit of our traditional Thanksgiving celebration brings us together as a

community of faith and as a nation to give thanks to the One who is the giver of all the gifts wecan have in our lives. Many think that the meaning of Thanksgiving usually includes feasting, along weekend, football games and family reunions. For me, personally, this is one of the mostbeautiful and meaningful celebrations we have here in America. It is wonderful to cook theturkey and all the wonderful traditional recipes for Thanksgiving Day; however, this celebrationis one of the few times when virtually everyone prays Grace before the meal. This is what I findmost beautiful and moving about Thanksgiving.

We know that we need to be thankful for everything. Whatever we have is a blessing, agift from the Lord. We perfectly know that “without Him we can do nothing”. We rely on Him, onHis power, on His merciful love, on His tenderness and compassion. With our so limited wordsand prayers we give thanks to Him for being in control of our lives. He knows what is best forus; He knows how and when to respond to our prayers.

Thanksgiving celebration is not only a celebration of faith. This celebration is not onlyabout our relationship with God as believers. Thanksgiving Day brings us together as a Nation. It is part of the history of the United States; it is part of the American Culture. Thanksgivingtalks about the religious identity of America. “We are one nation Under God”, as well, said thefounding fathers of America in our Constitution. As a nation, we acknowledge God as our Lordand Savior. God can never be “out of the page” in America. He is part of us. We should neverforget that He is the One who should rule. God should be the foundation of every nation.America can never forget that God is part of us. He has to be welcomed and accepted by thepeople and by the government. God bless America! This is not only a song. It is a prayer; it isthe deepest desire of our hearts. The best way He can bless us is by being among us. As wegive thanks to Him on Thanksgiving Day, we should invite Him to stay with us. Let us invite andwelcome Him into our Nation, into our families, into our laws, into our schools and places ofwork, into our hearts and minds.

Thankfulness is much more than saying "Thank you" because we have to, or becausesaying “thank you” shows good manners. Thankfulness is a way to experience the world, a wayto perceive and a way to be surprised. Thankfulness is having open eyes to really see life withgratitude. Thankfulness means saying “thank you" to others and to God because we do notwant to take anyone or anything for granted. Those who possess the virtue of gratitude are trulyrich. They not only know they have been blessed, but they continuously remember that all goodthings come from God.

On Thursday November 23rd at 9:00AM, we will all have the opportunity to cometogether as a Parish Family to thank our Good Lord for the countless blessings we havereceived this past year.

This celebration becomes an opportunity for me to say thank you to all of you: our parishstaff, our volunteers, everyone who is involved in our parish ministries and every one of youwho support our parish every week. Thank you very much! May we all have a great and happyThanksgiving!

God Bless,

Fr. Roberto
