FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT MARCH 18, 2018
Our Lady of Mercy Happenings
HOLY LAND GIFTS will be on display following all
Masses on March 24th and 25th. The display includes
handmade hand carved articles such as nativity scenes,
crucifixes, rosaries, the last supper and many other
beautiful religious articles. Because of the conflict in the
region, many Christian families in Bethlehem are
struggling to make ends meet. Holy Land Gifts represent
over 100 Christian families whom make a living selling
traditional olive wood handcrafts and religious articles.
When you purchase one of the beautiful gifts, you are
helping artisans in the Holy Land provide for their
families and live and work with dignity in a region
fraught with tension and oppression. Thank you for
supporting this project to keep Christians present in the
Holy Land, the birth place of Jesus.
May God Bless You! Suhair Musleh

St. Brigid’s Happenings

welcomed into our church through the
gift of Baptism the following: Valerie
Malecki, Paxton Rumble, and Aubrey Barth.

plan to attend.
BOOK CLUB will meet on Tuesday, March 20th at
6:30pm in the Parish Center. We are discussing Perfectly
Yourself by Matthew Kelly Chapters 1 and 2, as well as
Rediscover Jesus chapters 34-36 by Matthew Kelly. All
are welcome to attend our thought provoking discussion.
Refreshments are served.
RICE BOWLS: CRS Encounter: We encounter Alefa in
Malawi, where seeds are helping her family survive an
uncertain climate. How can you care for God’s creation
this Lent? How can you support those, worldwide, who
are forced to flee their homes to find safety or better
opportunities? Visit crsricebowl.org for more.
THE LADIES OF CHARITY: The Ladies of Charity of
our diocese maintain a store in Buffalo located on
Broadway. They provide everything from clothing to
baby layettes to small appliances at reasonable prices and
in extreme cases free of charge. Twice a year the ladies
sponsor events where theme baskets and gift cards are
raffled off. The money raised is used to maintain this
facility. Saint Brigid’s Ladies of Charity would like to
contribute a Family Movie/Fun Night themed basket.
Your creative ideas and basket items would be more than
welcome. They can be left at the back of church through
the end of March. Party Saturday is the afternoon of
April 14 at the Caldwell Center in Lackawanna. If you
have any interest in attending phone or text Jan Bausch at
585-315-2717.

MARCH CAME IN LIKE A LION: The Nursery classes
at Our Lady of Mercy’s Love Bugs Preschool have been
learning about how the weather changes with the seasons,
especially during the month of March. They are looking
out their “weather window” everyday to see if it’s a lion
day or a lamb day. So far they’ve seen lots of lion days but
are hoping for lamb days soon. Pictured here are some
“lions” in the morning Nursery class.
