Fifteenth & Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time July 12 & July 19, 2020

Wednesday Scripture

On Wednesday July 1, 8, and 22 (this is a date change) everyone is invited to meet in the church hall to discuss the readings for the following Sundays. This is an excellent way to delve deeper into the faith and to enrich your participation in the Sunday liturgy. Coming to a Wednesday night scripture exploration does not mean that you must come every Wednesday. You may like to come oc-casionally, and that’s just fine. All are welcome. In the church hall there is plenty of room for proper social distancing. We meet from 7:00-8:30pm.

Update for the Distribution of Holy Communion

For those who are not yet ready to return to public Mass but would like to receive Holy Communion, you are welcome to come to the church on Sundays between 10:30am-11:00am when Fr . Paul will be available for the distribution of Holy Communion.

Pray for Life and Hope

Interested individuals and families are invited to join a group of OLM parishioners who pray for the protection of life and for the hope of those facing unexpected pregnancies. The group gathers outside of Planned Parenthood in Manchester (24 Pennacook Street) on Wednes-day mornings at 11:30am to offer a quiet witness of prayer, love, and support for the unborn, their parents and families, and for each of us that we might recognize the great gift of life, cherish it, and protect it from every threat. This is a wonder-ful opportunity for individuals and families to get involved in this powerful and important ministry.

“Working from Home,” Work Camp at Our Lady of Mercy.

If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, “go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,” but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 1James 2:15-17

In past years we have invited our young men and women of the parish to put their faith into action through a pro-gram known as Work Camp, NE. One week each sum-mer we go into a community to do home repairs and pro-jects that allow the residents to remain safely in their homes, at no cost to the homeowner. Oftentimes, people have to weigh doing home improvements over their basic living needs. Usually, it’s the home improvements that get set aside. Covid 19 has changed many things in our world and in our community. This year we are bringing Work Camp home here to our Lady of Mercy. We will serve those in need in our faith community. So, this year, Work Camp is a commuter camp for our youth, from August 16-21. We will begin and end each day here at our Lady of Mer-cy. Our theme is “Faith and Works.” The Work Camp, NE leadership team will be guiding us through the week with home improvement professionals to work side by side with the youth. Our Youth Ministry Core Team is busy planning a lot of fun activities as we live out our Catholic faith during this special week.

Who can come? Any of our youth that are going into middle school, up to and including, those entering college.

What we need: Places to work. If you have projects (big or small) around the home that are unaffordable and/or beyond your abil-ity to fix yourself, please contact the parish office. We need adults willing to assist with meals and activities throughout the week. We would really love to have adults participate by work-ing alongside our youth. Many beautiful and lifelong friendships have begun at WorkCamp. More details will be available in the coming days. Ques-tions can be redirected to [email protected]
