Pastor’s Corner EVERY YEAR, SOMETHING
SPECIAL HAPPENS on the next-to-last Sunday of October. WORLD MISSION SUNDAY joins all Catholics of the world – all of us children of God – into one community of faith. At Mass that Sunday, we recommit ourselves to our common vocation, through Baptism, to be missionaries, through prayer, participation in the Eucharist, and by giving generously to the collection for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.
This year, Pope Francis addresses his World Mission Sunday message to us as we live out the adventure of being children of God. What a wonderful way to imagine the mission we have received from the Lord! It is a revitalizing adventure. When all the children of God, at every stage of life, reflect on the fact that our lives are a mission, our faith remains ever young.
As we pray and respond on World Mission Sunday here at home, we share in those celebrations taking place in every parish, seminary, school and convent all over the world. Together with children of God in every corner of the globe, we become voices for mission, providing the prayerful and financial support necessary to bring the Lord’s mercy and concrete help to the most vulnerable communities in the Pope’s missions.
In a world where so much divides us, World Mission Sunday rejoices in our unity as children of God, His missionaries! And it provides an opportunity to support the life-giving presence of the Church among the poor and marginalized in more than 1,111 mission dioceses.
TODAY IS WORLD MISSION SUNDAY. We celebrate this day by remembering the revitalizing mission at the heart of our Christian faith – to bring the Gospel to all! The second collection today for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith ensures the work and service of the Mission Church, as it supports priests, religious and lay leaders who offer the Lord’s mercy and concrete help to the most vulnerable communities in the Pope’s missions. Thank you for your generosity. For more information on World Mission Sunday, see www.missio.org.
Have a great week! Fr. Keith
P. Keith

Hurricane Florence has left much devastation in her
wake. While forecasters had been able to predict her path and
ferocity, the effects that have crippled areas of Georgia and the Carolinas have come from
the flooding, especially in western areas of these states which
are not generally in western areas of these states which are not generally affected by hurricanes.
To aid in the recovery, the United States conference of Catholic Bishops has called for a special collection to be taken up across the United States. Bishop Schlert
has authorized this collection for the weekend of October 27-28, 2018. The funds will be administered
by catholic Charities USA. ___________________________________________________________

Remembering our Deceased Loved Ones November 5th
The liturgical year closes in November. Many of the themes of Sunday mass during this time remind us of the last things-death, judgement, heaven and hell. As
you recall, one of the spiritual works of mercy is praying for the living and dead.
On Monday, November 5th at 7pm we will be celebrating a Mass of Remembrance. During this
mass, we remember all those individuals who have died from the parish in the last year. We also have the opportunity to pray for any of our deceased family & friends. You are invited to come earlier to write the
names of your loved ones in the Memorial Book. After Mass, please join us for some light refreshments in the
Social Hall. ___________________________________________

Every child is taught the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Glory Be when they are young. But the
Church has a treasury of prayers from her tradition. Each month we would like to highlight a specific prayer and invite you to pray it each day or even to memorize it where it will be secure within
your memory. Prayer For Healing Victims of Abuse
God of endless love,
ever caring, ever strong, always present, always just:
You gave your only Son to save us by the blood of his cross.
Gentle Jesus, shepherd of peace,
join to your own suffering the pain of all who have been hurt
in body, mind, and spirit by those who betrayed the trust placed in them.
Hear our cries as we agonize
over the harm done to our brothers and sisters. Breathe wisdom into our prayers, soothe restless hearts with hope, steady shaken spirits with faith:
Show us the way to justice and wholeness, enlightened by truth and enfolded in your
mercy.
Holy Spirit, comforter of hearts, heal your people’s wounds
and transform our brokenness. Grant us courage and wisdom, humility and
grace, so that we may act with justice
and find peace in you. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Escucha nuestros gritos mientras agonizamos
y transforma nuestro quebrantamiento Danos valor y sabiduría, humildad y gracia,
Amen.
