School. It is always hard to
say good-bye, but I quote
our Lord as He says "Well
done good and faithful
servants." We hope they
enjoy less hectic days.

new chapter at Lourdes.

Mary Lynn Webb Sunderman, ‘71 was the 2013 Circle of Mercy Award
Recipient at Mother of Mercy’s graduation this year. The award honors an alumna who best reflects the Mercy values of excellence, compassion, faith,
leadership and service. As Mercy President Kirsten MacDougal honored Mary Lynn she noted, “Mary Lynn has always ministered to those in need, through
her word, deed and prayer; she has helped the lives of many through her
generous acts of Mercy.”

ty of Cincinnati Scholar of the Month in Febru-
ary, 2013.
Stephanie Vorherr ‘05 set Xavier University’s all-time dig record just one
game after setting the single game record for digs!
Alex Viox ‘07 received the Ernest T. Savignano Award at Brown Universi-
ty, which is given to a Brown University student-athlete who is an excep-
tional leader, determined student, gifted athlete, and is heavily involved in
extra-curricular activities and campus life at Brown University

all received awards in photo contests in the Cincinnati area.
OLL 8th grade basketball team ’13 won the OLL tournament coached
by Mike Chastang ‘96, Jason Herrmann ‘96, and Fuzz Carle ‘90
Ken Czillinger ‘56, a pioneer in the bereavement field, received the first Hope, Strength and Healing
Award from West Chester Township-based Companions on a Journey, which served more than 4,000
children, teens and adults last year.
Greg Mooter ‘66 was inducted into the Seton-Elder Performing Arts Series
Melissa Mertz Wegman ‘82 is running for a position on Cincinnati City
Council this fall
Congratulations to Trey Radel ‘90 for his election to the United States Congress representing Flori-
da’s 19th Congressional District.
David Le ‘93 is one of the proud owners of two Cincinnati restau-
rants: Pho Lang Thang in Findlay Market and Quan Hapa. Pho Lang
Thang was recently voted #1 by readers in the Vietnamese category
of CityBeat’s Best of Cincinnati

OLL bids a fond farewell to several of our legendary
faculty this year. Mrs. Terry Etter (46 years) Mrs.
Kathy Berninger (36 years), Mrs. Linda Schnei-
der (22 years), Dr. Joe Vesper (32 years) along
with Sr. Greta Schmidlin (26 years) have retired
from Our Lady of Lourdes School.
May their days be filled with joy and triumph. We
thank them for sharing their tremendous compassion
and knowledge with the many lives they have truly
touched.

Congratulations to our 5th and 6th grade teacher, Maureen Conway Kissinger ‘78, who
has achieved the Master Teacher Designation. Mrs. Kissinger has proven distinguished
practice both inside and outside the classroom. Mrs. Kissinger is to be congratulated for her
classroom leadership, collaboration, and commitment to ongoing professional development.
Her talents and skills are an asset to Our Lady of Lourdes School. She was presented with
her award by the Archdiocesan of Cincinnati superintendent, Dr. Jim Rigg, at the annual
Teacher Recognition Banquet in Cincinnati on April 10 at the Cintas Center.
Our beautiful handmade banner made by Dee Fagedes 26 years ago brought back a won-
derful memory for “models” Elizabeth Berning, wife of
alum Mike Berning ‘77, as she and her son Michael
returned to OLL during the month of May .
Now in his third year of college seminary at Bishop
Brute College Seminary in Indianapolis, Michael
Mazzei ’06 has returned from an historical time in
Rome where he studied at the Pontifical College of St.
Thomas Aquinas (the Angelicum) for a semester. Dur-
ing his time there, he was able to experience the election of our new Pope!
