COMBINED CHOIR: Grouping 329 Music Ministry is

looking to form a combined choir to sing at the Easter Vigil

Mass here at Our Lady of Lourdes on Saturday, April 20th.

Rehearsals will be held in the St. Alphonsus Choir Loft on

Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Please consider sharing

your talent with others as we “Sing a Joyful Song Unto the

Lord”.

THE FISH FRYS are in full swing! They are held every

Friday during Lent, including Good Friday, from 3:00 p.m.

to 7:00 p.m. We still need donations of pop, water, dessert

plates and especially paper towels. We also need desserts

on the day of the fish fry. We can always use help also,

both at the fish fry and on Thursday mornings for prep

work. If you are able to help out at either for a couple of

hours we would love to have you join us!

THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES MUST BE MET IN

ORDER TO SERVE AS A SPONSOR

FOR BAPTISM/CONFIRMATION

Individual must:

1. have completed his or her 16th year

2. be a Catholic who has been confirmed and has

already received the Sacrament of the Most Holy Eucharist

and leads a life in harmony with the faith and the role to be

undertaken.

3. receive the sacraments on a regular basis

4. not be bound by any Canonical penalty

5. if married, be validly married according to the norms

of the church

6. not be the child’s mother or father

7. obtain a letter from his/her pastor attesting to his/her

eligibility to serve as a sponsor.

PLEASE COME PREPARED next weekend, March

30th & 31st, for the Catholic Campaign for Human Devel-

opment, Catholic Home Missions Appeal and National

Collection for Black and Indian Missions collections. The

Catholic Campaign for Human Development helps people

across the nation break the cycle of poverty. The Catholic

Home Missions Appeal supports the Missions in Appala-

chia, the Deep South and states where the Catholic Church

struggles to keep parishes open. The National Collection

for Black and Indian Missions assists with the evangeliza-

tion of African American, Native American and Eskimo

communities. Please be as generous as possible.

“LADIES OF THE 6” ROAD TRIP Inviting ladies of

Pietras serving in the Mediterranean, Derrick Kelley serv-

ing in Afghanistan, and Nicholas Froats, Nicholas Patin,

HEALTH MINISTRY TIP: Fruits and vegetables make

the perfect “grab and go” food, since most fruits and many

vegetables, like carrots, celery, and bags of pre-washed

snap peas need no preparation.

ADVANCE NOTICE: Ash Wednesday is March 5th

which is the beginning of the Easter season. In order to

offer our Lenten fish fries this year, we need a volunteer

to head them. Kriston Galish needs to step down due to

taking on a full time job but is willing to help get you

started. Last year we profited $22,542.67 from this fund-

raiser. That’s a lot of money for a 6 week project. You

can even team up with another person to head them. If

interested, please call the rectory (947-3363).

I Must Go Over to Look at This

Remarkable Sight - In today’s

first reading, Moses, while tend-

ing the flocks of his father-in-law,

happens upon a bush which is

burning, but which is not con-

sumed. Moses’ reaction is to go

over to look at this remarkable sight, which he does.

However, the Lord, in speaking from the burning bush,

wants him to do more than look. Instead, God reveals

himself to Moses and calls Moses to lead His people out

of slavery in Egypt. While Moses has some reservations,

he says yes to God and works to lead his people to free-

dom. Like Moses, the Lord wants us to do more than

look at Him or at His Church. The Lord wants us to be

engaged with Him. Faith is not a passive endeavor.

Faith is an active engagement with God in the commu-

nity of the church. It is easy to look at the Church and

say, “I like this” or, “I do not like that” and then do noth-

ing about it. It takes effort to get involved to be an in-

strument of Jesus’ life in the Church. As we continue our

Lenten journey may we be renewed not only to see God

better, but to embrace most fully his will. Visit onmis-

sionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.

LENTEN REFLECTIONS: Are you looking for a

quick and easy way to enhance your experience of Lent?

Check out our parish grouping’s website! The home

page now offers brief reflections by Bishop Robert Bar-

ron that will be updated daily throughout the Lenten sea-

son.
