A Note From The Pastor… Last Sunday, I had the opportunity to spend some "me with
our Christ First Teens. They played a game called “Father Knows
Best” in the format of the former game-show, “Who Wants To
Be A Millionaire?” It was a lot of fun. The ‘East’ Team got off to
a slow start, but came back to win the game! If you want to
know more about me, just ask one of our Christ First Teens!
This week, I will meet with the parents of our students
making their First Reconcilia"on. Please pray for those who are
preparing for First Reconcilia"on and First Holy Communion,
that they may develop a strong love for the Lord Jesus in those
great Sacraments of healing and love.
This past Sunday, a parishioner approached me with what was almost surely a
Consecrated Host on the floor in the pews. This is unacceptable. Though it is rare, in my
six and a half years as a priest, I have encountered people trying to walk away from the
Communion line without consuming the Body of Christ. Usually this is at funerals.
When that happens, I politely ask the person to consume the Eucharist, and so far they
have.
This is a serious ma$er. According to the Church’s Canon Law, if someone throws
away Holy Communion, or takes it with them (unless it is a Minister of Care taking Holy
Communion to the homebound or sick), then that person is automa"cally
excommunicated. If a priest does that, he could permanently lose his facul"es to serve
as a priest. Should you see someone walk away from the Communion line without
consuming the Body of Christ (such as pu'ng It in their pocket), politely ask them to
consume It or return It. They may not leave the Church without returning It.
Perhaps you heard last August, that a person obtained a Consecrated Host, and was
going to publicly desecrate It in a satanic ritual. The Archbishop of Oklahoma City,
Archbishop Paul Coakley, filed a lawsuit saying that the Host was Church property. A
judge immediately issued a temporary order preven"ng the person from “concealing,
damaging, destroying, or removing” It from Oklahoma County. The man returned the
Host shortly therea-er. Legally, it is considered stealing to take Holy Communion out of
the Church (unless It is being taken by an authorized Minister of Care to the sick or
homebound).
Let us pray for greater reverence in the world for the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
Blessings,
Fr. Paul

Eucharis!c Adora!on Lord Jesus, please
touch my indifference to
You in the Holy Eucharist.
Touch my faith and
deepen it more than ever before. “I
believe.” “Help my unbelief.” Let me
experience the power of Your love
from this most holy of Sacraments.

O Sacrament Divine!
All Praise and Thanksgiving

Through the sanc"fying grace of
