Stewards Discern
“Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked to us on the road, while He opened to us the scriptures?” LUKE 24:32
How often do we, as Christian Stewards, take the time to discern what Jesus wants from us? Are our prayers always petitions, asking Jesus to do things for us? If so, that’s a one-sided relationship. Living our faith means developing a personal relationship with Jesus. Just like any friendship, there is give and take, each side listening to each other and helping each other out. Take time in silence to listen to what Jesus is asking of you.

A Message from our Pastor, Rev. Joseph T. Szolack
Dear Friends in Christ, As many of you know, we have been streaming Holy Mass every day at 9:00 AM and have been live streaming other events such as the Divine Mercy Chaplet along with Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Father Rene has been offering a spiritual talk within a Holy Hour from our private chapel every Thursday. We are trying to be in touch with you and to offer you spiritual substance. I know it is not the same as being at Mass in person, but the grace of God is not bound by place. Please recall that we are offering the Mass intention at the exact hour it was requested. I asked the priests to be faithful to this so that those who requested a Mass for a particular day and hour can be in prayer with the Mass. The priests have been very exact with this request and I am so grateful to them. Thank you to so many who watch our Mass. The faithful from not only Our Lady of Hope and the Saint Jude’s community watch, but parishioners from my former parishes and friends near and far watch the Masses. My mom even watches! I am so appreciative of the kind words that are expressed by you on the Facebook page. Your gratitude, your encouragement, your spiritual advice and above all your prayers mean the world to us. Your love for your priests is very moving. By the grace of God, we are beginning to see some light at the end of the tunnel…I pray. Things will not change quickly, but whatever we need to do to have you return to the Mass safely, be assured that we will make every effort to do what is necessary. What matters is that, as soon as possible, you come to your spiritual home to be with the Lord you love so much. Thank you for lifting us up with your great faith. As difficult and sad this time is, I know that because of you, I will look back on this as a moment of faith and trust in the Lord. Thank you Lord Jesus that you sent me to serve at Our Lady of Hope parish! I am grateful to our police department, who through Chief David Harkins, has reached out to me in support of our parish as well as our mayor, David Mayer, who is very supportive of Our Lady of Hope. I am grateful to Mrs. Elizabeth Martino, the administration, faculty and staff for their hard work to keep Our Lady of Hope School functioning. To the parents and our students, stay strong and keep working. You are the pride of our school. Please sign up for our Religious Education program which will resume in the summer as soon as possible. So, there are many blessings being here at this parish. “Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.” (Philippians 1:3). God bless you and stay well, Father Szolack

As the pandemic continues to limit our contact with others, the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry has continued to feed the hungry through new procedures. Distribution has shifted to Saturday mornings with "drive by" pick up for our many clients. We are
experiencing an increase of requests as well as a decrease of donations. If you are able to donate non-perishable food items, please drop them off at the parish center on Saturday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. We are currently in need of cereal, canned corn, grape jelly, pasta and syrup. Thank you for always supporting us as we fulfill our mission to feed the hungry.

NEWS & EVENTS
Grotto Update "To Jesus Through Mary "… uplifting news during these difficult times for all of us and our Church. Installation of benches and stations on almost 40 yards of colored concrete has been completed. Also completed was the area in front of Grotto and behind the Blessed Mother. Bases for lights on the right side of Grotto have been installed and we are awaiting lights and installation of another camera for additional security.
Irrigation for all plants and recently donated trees will begin by end of March, utilizing the existing retention pond water. Our priority now is to obtain enough money to install a six foot concrete walk path on the right side of Grotto, to provide access. More donations are needed and all will be recognized. We are making good progress but more work is still needed on our path to completion. Our Blessed Mother has been working to assist us, along with your prayers and rosaries...keep them coming.....
Please check our parish website at: www.ourladyofhopenj.org/grotto or call the parish office for any and all donations or questions. Electronic donations can also be made by calling 1-866-307-7140 or going to parish website.
