Pentecost The Easter Season ends today on Pentecost, which is fifty days after Easter. There is a definite connection between Easter and Pentecost. On Easter, Jesus appeared to His dis-ciples, breathed on them and said: “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.” Jesus’ mission was to reconcile man with God. The apostles received the Holy Spirit on Easter, but on Pentecost, the Spirit gave them the extra courage and strength to leave the locked room and to go forth continuing our Lord’s mission. The continuation of His mission now falls on us. Beg the Holy Spirit to come to you and to give you His courage to love and to forgive. Isn’t this what our world needs?
Easter Duty Every Catholic who has made his or her First Communion has the duty of receiving Holy Communion at least once a year. This obligation is known as the Easter Duty. If one re-ceives Holy Communion between the first Sunday of Lent and Trinity Sunday, one ful-fills his or her Easter Duty. Next Sunday is Trinity Sunday.
Father Timothy R. Leete With praise and thanksgiving to almighty God, the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph joyfully announces the ordination of Deacon Timothy R. Leete to the Sacred Order of Priesthood on May 19th , 2018. Father Leete’s first Mass will be here at Good Counsel this Sunday, May 20th ,at the 11:00 a.m. Mass . Please join us for a reception for Father Leete in the Parish Hall after the 11:00 Mass.
Unbound Presentation at Christ The King Parish 8501 Wornall There will be a DVD presentation and group study/discussion of the prayer and deliver-ance ministry, Unbound, from Heart of the Father Ministries on eight consecutive Sun-day afternoons beginning June 24th through August 12th. We will meet from 1:30-3:30 PM in the Narthex at Christ the King. There is a cost of $10.00 for the workbook, and pre-reading of the Unbound book by Neal Lozano is highly recommended. Registration is required by June 15th. Email John and Penny Harrison at [email protected] or by calling 816-289-2506 and leaving a mes-sage to register, or for any questions. A free will offering will be taken at each meeting for the parish. Light refreshments will be served. .
