Our Lady of Fatima November 17, 2019

Una Fe puesta solo en Jesús Jesús ha llegado a Jerusalén. Sus discípulos contemplan admirados las piedras y ofrendas que adornan el templo. La mirada de Jesús va mas allá. Detrás de esas piedras ve la corrupción en que han caído las autoridades del templo y como la institución se ha alejado del proyecto de Dios. Por eso no duda en decir: “no quedara piedra sobre piedra. . . todo será destruido.” El fin del mundo, fabricado sobre la violencia y la mentira, aun no ha llegado, pero esta en germen. Por eso Jesús invita a sus discípulos a estar vigilantes y a no caer en falsos mesianismos: “Cuídense de que nadie los engañe, porque muchos vendran usurpando mi nombre y diran: ‘Yo soy el Mesias. El tiempo ha llegado’. . .” Así también como a no dejar que el pánico los domine ante situaciones de guerra, hambre, enfermedad. Insiste ñeque se mantenga firmes y den testimonio en medio de las persecuciones, cárceles y comparecencias. No sabemos que cara pusieron los discípulos al escuchar estas palabras tan duras. Seguramente fueron de asombro o terror. Jesús los consuela y alienta: “Grábense bien que no tienen que preparar de antemano su defensa, porque yo les daré palabras sabias, a las que no podrán resistir ni contradecir ningún adversario de ustedes.” Al final, todavía, Jesús les habla de las traiciones, odios y muertes que enfrentaran por su causa. Pero insiste nuevamente en el cuidado y la atención de parte de Dios: “no caerá ningún cabello de la cabeza de ustedes. Si se mantienen firmes, conseguirán la vida.” Que el Señor nos dé su gracia para que sepamos discernir sus signos de los tiempos, nos apartemos de aquello que trae muerte y pongamos la fe y la esperanza en solo Cristo Jesús, el nuevo templo del Espíritu.

A Faith placed alone in Jesus Jesus arrived in Jerusalem. His disciples admire the stones and details that adorn the temple. The look of Jesus goes beyond. Behind those stones he sees the corruption in which the temple authorities have fallen and how the institution has moved away from the project of God. That is why he does not hesitate to say: “there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down” The end of the world, built on violence and lies, has not yet come, but it is in germ. That is why Jesus invites his disciples to be vigilant and not to fall into false prophets: “See that you not be deceived, for many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Messiah,' and 'The time has come.” As well as not allowing panic to dominate in situations of war, hunger, disease. He insists that to stand firm and give testimony in the midst of persecutions, prisons and appearances. We do not know what face the disciples put on when hearing these hard words. Surely they were of astonishment or terror. Jesus comforts and encourages them: " Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand, for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute." In the end, Jesus still speaks of the betrayals, hatreds and deaths they will face for his cause. But he insists again on the care and attention of God: “not a hair on your head will be destroyed. By your perseverance you will secure your lives.”

May the Lord give us his grace so that we can discern his signs of the times, turn away from that which brings death and put faith and hope in only Christ Jesus, the new temple of the Spirit. .

Pope Francis told those who are sick and suffering Friday that the world needs their prayers. “You, who are at the foot of the cross, perhaps alone, isolated, abandoned, homeless, expelled from your family or from your country, victims of alcohol, prostitution, disease. Be aware that God loves you. God especially listens to your prayer,” Pope Francis said in a video message Nov. 15 to pilgrims in Lourdes, France. “Brothers and sisters, I need you all, each one of you,” the pope said. “The world suffers and your prayer moves the Lord.” In the message, Pope Francis greeted those gathered in Lourdes, France Nov. 14-17 for the World Day of the Poor. Millions of people travel to Lourdes each year to pray at the site where the Virgin Mary appeared to St. Bernadette Soubirous in 1858 under the title “the Immaculate Conception,” and manifested healing spring water. “It is Mary who welcomes us here. She is the Immaculate. She appeared to Bernadette, a poor shepherdess. It is good news for all of us who recognize ourselves as poor and small: ‘What God has hidden from the wise and learned, he has revealed to the little ones,’” Pope Francis said. “You who are small, you who are poor, fragile, you are the treasure of the Church. You are in the heart of the pope, in the heart of Mary, in the heart of God,” he said. Pope Francis established the annual World Day of the Poor at the end of the Jubilee Year of Mercy in 2016. This year, the pope will celebrate the World Day of the Poor with a Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica on Nov. 17 followed by a lunch at the Vatican with over 1,000 impoverished people invited as guests. In his video message, Pope Francis invited each person to “live the sacraments,” adding that they are gifts from the Church. “I invite you to discover especially confession, the sacrament of forgiveness in which God shows us his tenderness and frees us,” the pope said. He also invited the sick to receive the sacrament of anointing. Pope Francis said that to receive the Eucharist is to welcome God into one’s body and soul, filling it with faith and joy. “Do you want to be a Christian? Ask for the baptism,” he added. “Let us ask the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Love, to inspire acts of charity, of benevolence towards those around us,” he said. “There is no one so poor as to have nothing to give.” “Love saves the world and God wants to go through us to save the world,” Pope Francis said.

Papa Francisco envió un mensaje a los participantes del “Raduno Fratello 2019”, organizado por la Asociación Fratello, que tiene lugar en el Santuario de Lourdes (Francia) del 14 al 17 de noviembre, en el que hizo un llamado a vivir la caridad pues no hay nadie tan pobre que no tenga algo para compartir. La Asociación Fratello realiza esta peregrinación al Santuario de Lourdes con personas en exclusión social y con motivo de la tercera Jornada Mundial de los Pobres que tendrá lugar el próximo domingo 17 de noviembre. En el mensaje el Papa Francisco aseguró que necesita “a todos, a cada uno” y recordó a los participantes de este encuentro que “vosotros que estáis al pie de la cruz, quizás solos, aislados, abandonados, sin casa, expulsados de vuestra familia o de vuestro país, víctimas del alcohol, de la prostitución, de la enfermedad. Sed conscientes de que Dios os ama. Dios escucha especialmente vuestra oración”. En un mundo que sufre, el Papa Francisco aseguró que la oración de estas personas en necesidad “conmueve al Señor” porque “vosotros que sois pequeños, sois pobres, frágiles, sois el tesoro de la Iglesia. Estáis en el corazón del Papa, en el corazón de María, en el corazón de Dios. Cada vez que vuestra vida ha sido pisoteada, maltratada, ofendida, es Jesús quien ha sido pisoteado, maltratado, ofendido”. El Papa Francisco les animó a rezar especialmente a la Virgen María. “Recibid a María en vuestro interior, acurrucaos contra ella. Ella es la puerta de la Iglesia que está abierta de par en par” porque “ella nos da a Jesús y nos conduce a Él”, explicó. También exhortó a los participantes de este encuentro que pidan a Dios que llegue a nuestras vidas para que “reparta su dulce compasión sobre el mundo”. El Papa Francisco también les instó a vivir los sacramentos ya que, según los calificó, son “regalos” y les animó a “descubrir en especial la confesión, el sacramento del perdón en el que Dios nos muestra su ternura y nos libera”. “Vivid la Eucaristía para acoger al mismo Dios en vuestro cuerpo y en vuestra alma. El os da la fe y la alegría”, explicó. Además aseguró que el sacramento de la unción de los enfermos es especialmente valioso “para aquellos de vosotros que estéis heridos en vuestro cuerpo o en vuestra mente”. “Vivid la caridad vosotros: no hay nadie tan pobre como para no tener nada para dar. Pidamos al Espíritu Santo, el Espíritu de Amor, que nos inspire actos de caridad, de benevolencia hacia quienes nos rodean.El Amor salva al mundo y Dios quiere pasar por nosotros para salvar al mundo”, afirmó en el videomensaje. Por último les animó a no volver a sus casas igual que llegaron al Santuario de Lourdes, sino regresar “con la Esperanza, sed testigos del amor de Dios en vuestro entorno”. “Contad al mundo cuál es vuestro tesoro: “Jesús”. Id con María, que haga de vosotros apóstoles de la ternura de Dios. El Papa os quiere y confía en vosotros. ¡Os bendigo a todos y cada uno de vosotros, que el Espíritu Santo os renueve a todos por Su AMOR!”, aseguró.

Prayer for Vocations

Father, in the fullness of time, you sent your Son, born of the Virgin Mary to be our Savior. He preached the good news of our salvation, healed the sick and cast out evil. Now as crucified and risen Lord, he pours out on us the Holy Spirit of adoption, making us your sons and daughters. Through the Church, he calls us to accept the gospel and to share in your own divine life. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life for all people. In your mercy, you do not abandon us. In every age, you raise up men and women to offer their lives for the sake of the gospel and the work of the Church. We beg you, therefore, grant to this local Church of Paterson an increase of vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Give us courageous and faithful men to serve as worthy priests and deacons. Bless us with generous and zealous men and women willing to seek holiness in consecrated life. May we rejoice in an abundance of vocations from our families so that we may yield a rich harvest of good works for your honor and glory. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen

Oracion por la Santificacion de los Sacerdotes Oh Jesús, Pontífice Eterno, Buen Pastor, Fuente de vida, que por singular generosidad de tu dulcísimo Corazón nos has dado nuestros sacerdotes para que podamos cumplir plenamente los designios de santificación que tu gracia inspira en nuestras almas; te suplicamos: ven y ayúdalos con tu asistencia misericordiosa. Sé en ellos, oh Jesús, fe viva en sus obras, esperanza inquebrantable en las pruebas, caridad ardiente en sus propósitos. Que tu palabra, rayo de la eterna Sabiduría, sea, por la constante meditación, el alimento diario de su vida interior. Que el ejemplo de tu vida y Pasión se renueve en su conducta y en sus sufrimientos para enseñanza nuestra, y alivio y sostén en nuestras penas. Concédeles, oh Señor, desprendimiento de todo interés terreno y que sólo busquen tu mayor gloria. Concédeles ser fieles a sus obligaciones con pura conciencia hasta el postrer aliento. Y cuando con la muerte del cuerpo entreguen en tus manos la tarea bien cumplida, dales, Jesús, Tú que fuiste su Maestro en la tierra, la recompensa eterna: la corona de justicia en el esplendor de los santos. Amén.
