¿Me Amas?

“Simón, hijo de Juan, ¿me amas mas que estos?” Es la primera pregunta que le hace Jesús a Pedro cuando se apareció a sus discípulos junto al lago de Tiberiades. A pesar de las debilidades, tropiezos e infidelidades de Pedro, sorprende la fineza con que Jesús se acerca a este. Sabemos que Pedro se atrevió a reprochar públicamente a Jesús cuando este empezó a explicar su proyecto; que hizo alarde de ser distinto y mejor; que no fue capaz de velar ni uno hora cuando Jesús sudaba sangre en el huerto de Getsemani; que negó conocer a Jesús y ser uno de sus discípulos. Sin embargo, Jesús no interroga a Pedro sobre ninguno de estos hechos o actitudes. Lo interroga sobre el amor: “Simón, hijo de Juan, ¿Me Amas?”. Con esto, Jesús no quiere otra cosa que poner en movimiento las fuerzas mas profundas de Pedro, ese entusiasmo que lo había impulsado a seguirlo inmediatamente, ese amor que había manifestado en muchas ocasiones.

Jesús no le pregunta a Pedro sobre sus cualidades, si sabe organizar, si será capaz de salir de situaciones difíciles. Su pregunta tiene que ver con el amor; por eso pregunta por tercera vez: “Simón, hijo de Juan, ¿me quieres?” A las tres preguntas sobre el amor, Pedro responde: “tu sabes que te quiero.” Y con esto, Pedro sabe que su valía no radica en una conquista orgullosa de la propia fidelidad, sino en que se ha dejado amar por Jesús y quiere responder a este amor.

Cada vez que Pedro contesta afirmativamente a la pregunta, Jesús le dice: “Apacienta mis corderos. . . Apacienta mis ovejas.” Al hablar de corderos y ovejas podemos pensar en la Iglesia, en los fieles, en todos los hombres y mujeres que ama el Señor. Con estas palabras, Jesús no hace otra cosa que confiar a pedro la misión de alentar, fortalecer y animar a los hermanos. De un modo o de otro Jesús le dice a Pedro: “Tu que has experimentado lo que es el amor y la misericordia, tu que dices que me amas, no dejes de ver por mis pequeños y comunicar a estos el amor de Dios.”

¿Cómo respondo yo a la pregunta sobre el amor? ¿Cómo experimento hoy que Dios me ama?

Do you love Me?

"Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" It is the first question that Jesus asks of Peter when he appeared to his disciples near the Sea of Tiberias . Despite the weaknesses, stumbles and infidelities of Peter, it surprises the finesse with which Jesus approaches him. We know that Peter dared to publicly reproach Jesus when he began to explain his project; who boasted of being different and better; that he was not able to watch for an hour when Jesus was sweating blood in the Garden of Gethsemane; who denied knowing Jesus and being one of his disciples. However, Jesus does not interrogate Peter about any of these facts or attitudes. Jesus qestioned him about love: "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" With this, Jesus wants nothing more than to set in motion the deepest forces of Peter, that enthusiasm that had impelled him to follow him immediately, that love he had manifested on many occasions.

Jesus does not ask Peter about his qualities, if he knows how to organize, if he will be able to get out of difficult situations. His question has to do with love; That's why he asks for the third time: "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter replies to the three questions: "you know that I love you." And with this, Pedro knows that his value does not lie in a proud conquest of his own fidelity, but in that he has let himself be loved by Jesus and wants to respond to this love.

Each time Peter answers the question affirmatively, Jesus tells him: "Feed my lambs. . . Feed my sheep. "In talking about lambs and sheep we can think about the Church, the faithful, all the men and women that the Lord loves. With these words, Jesus does nothing but entrust Peter with the mission of encouraging, strengthening and encouraging the brothers. In one way or another Jesus says to Peter: "You who have experienced what love and mercy is, you who say you love me, do not stop seeing my little ones and communicate to them the love of God."

How do I respond to the question about love? How do I experience today that God loves me?

Passaic, NJ 07055 Querido Padre Rolands Uribe, Me complace confirmar en esta carta su nombramiento como Pastor de la Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Fátima, Passaic, NJ, el 28 de abril de 2019, domingo de la Divina Misericordia. Esta asignación es por un período de seis (6) años. Lo felicito por el trabajo que ha realizado, tanto pastoralmente como personalmente, durante el año pasado para prepararse para este pastorado. Usted ha servido a esta comunidad con gran entusiasmo y pasión.

Al comenzar su nuevo pastorado, le pido que esté consciente de la necesidad de su cooperación para ayudar a formar a aquellos que servirán como sacerdotes en nuestra Diócesis. Por lo tanto, debe esperar la asignación de un seminarista de acuerdo con las necesidades de la Diócesis.

Es significativo que asuma el pastorado de Nuestra Señora de Fátima el domingo de la Divina Misericordia. Al predicar el mensaje de la Divina Misericordia, del amor de Dios para su pueblo y que su misericordia se extiende a todos por nuestros pecados que, también a usted, como pastor, se le confía la labor esencial y necesaria de evangelización y la proclamación de la bondad del Señor a través de sus esfuerzos por medio de su ministerio sacerdotal replicando los atributos de obediencia, justicia, verdad y paz.

Anime a sus feligreses a ser buenos y fieles administradores de los dones de Dios invirtiendo su tiempo, talento y tesoro para el bienestar de la comunidad. Sea entusiasta en ese esfuerzo, reconociendo humildemente que solo con la gracia de Dios y la intercesión de Nuestro Señor podemos lograr lo que hacemos. Confío en que su estadía en Nuestra Señora de Fátima le permita desarrollar su potencial pastoral mientras continúa sirviendo a Dios y a su pueblo.

Que las oraciones e intercesiones del Señor, Jesús y la Santísima Madre te fortalezcan para hacer el trabajo de Dios y obtengan para ti las gracias que necesitas para un pastorado feliz en la parroquia Nuestra Señora de Fátima.

Passaic, NJ 07055 Dear Father Uribe, I am pleased to confirm in this letter that I appoint you the Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Passaic, on April 28, 2019, Sunday of Divine Mercy. This appointment is for a period of six (6) years. I congratulate you on the work you have done, both pastorally and personally, over the past year to prepare yourself for this pastorate. You have served this community with great zeal and enthusiasm. As you begin your new pastorate, I am asking you to be aware of the need of your cooperation in helping form those who will serve as priests in our Diocese. Therefore, you are to expect the assignment of a seminarian according to the needs of the Diocese. It is significant that you assume the pastorate of Our Lady of Fatima on Sunday of Divine Mercy. By preaching the message of Divine Mercy which is God loves us all and extends his mercy to us all for our sins that, you, too, as the pastor are entrusted with the essential and necessary work of evangelization and proclaiming the Lord's goodness through your priestly ministry by replicating the attributes of obedience, justice , truth and peace .
