Statue Visitation for the Consecrated Life

Parishioners are invited to receive the statue of Our Lady for one week and place her with flowers and candles in a prominent position in the home. Each day you are committed to praying the rosary to which parishioners can be invited to join in if you so wish. Redditch Catenians proudly present a musical concert by members of the Was family on Saturday 10th September at 7.30pm. This talented Catholic family are music students who originate from Poland but now live locally. The concert will be held at the home of John & Joanna Kane, 75 Jersey Close, Church Hill B98 9LT. Reflection for the weekend ……..

Jesus proclaims that he has come to grant forgiveness to sinners, to save that which was lost. He tells his famous parable of the prodi-gal son and how he was welcomed back by the Father. The implication is that no matter how far we stray God is always ready to welcome us home. We also need to forgive and be for-given remembering always that is must be accompanied by a resolution to amend our lives and grow closer to God.

(349-407) St John was born in Antioch, he was a great genius, whose powerful eloquence earned him the name Chrysostom, ‘the golden mouthed’. He entered monastic life and then became a priest. As Archbishop of Constantinople, he distinguished himself for his preaching and his abundant writings about Catholic doctrine and Christian life. He died in exile.

(3rd century) Pope Cornelius defended the faith against the Novation heretics and, helped by St Cyprian, confirmed his authority. He died in exile. St Cyprian was born in Carthage and became its bishop. He was a staunch defender of the faith and ecclesiastical discipline. He suffered martyrdom during the persecution of Valerian. Their names are included in the Roman Canon.

(1542-1621) St Robert Bellarmine was born at Montepulciano, Italy, and joined the Society of Jesus. He was later created a Cardinal and was briefly Archbishop of Capua, although his greatest legacy is as a theologian and controversialist, especially in defending the Church from its protestant critics. He was canonised only in 1930, and declared a Doctor of the Church the following year.

Baptism To arrange for the baptism of your child/children you will need to contact the parish office on 01527 63096 or visit the parish website to find out when the next available Baptism Meeting is for you to attend. At this meeting you will be given the Baptism Form to take away with you for completion. Once completed please bring it with you to the parish office on either a Monday or Friday morning between 10am—11am when one of the priests will be able to see you and book the date for baptism. Bap-tisms normally take place on a Sunday at 12.45pm in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. There is an administrative fee of £30 for Baptism which should be paid at the time of arranging the date.
