Editorial DO YOU OJ L TH O SE WHEELS?

There i s an old G erman saying that "A cruel storf runs on wheels and all hands o i the wheels as they run"·

Alpine is a wonderful place, but like many small communities, there are a few persons who have nothing to do but talk about everything and everybody, whether they know what the y are t alking ab out or not .

I refer to the present situation at our school. It is obvious that some peo1>_le don't like some other people. There are some that don't like John Doe. Others don't like Jane lbe. S till others have Iio use for Mrs. S-and-So. There are some that don't like me. And there are some that don't like Frank S. Brown, our school superintendent.

Now I have heard some people say "We mu st get rid· of Br own''. Yet these same folks have not gotten at the faets-- they have heard someone else voice the sane thing.

I do not say that Brown is perfect. He told me he knows he is not; but he is trying to do a good job of running th school. He is a good, c l e a n m a n , with ch ar acter, an d ambition to have a good school. We w e re d el i ght ed wi th our little girl's kindergarten and first grade work. I know many other parents who feel the same way We are proud of our school.

We need mo re classroom s, more money for operation, more teachers. due to this insidious propaganda against the administration, the b onds wer efeated and the permission for tax raise was refused. The eommunity Council advised this be voted in, bit the word went around "not while Brown is in".

I f Brown is a crcok, or is not administer ing our school in the right manner, he should be formally charged and tried in open court in the Ame rican way .and not in a sly , gas ipy m ann er, b y prej u diee .

My point is that we should not oil the wheels of a cruel atory as it rolls _past us! -C.I.

3 NI CE PUB LICITY FOR ALPIN E

Mrs. E lvina Colburn who goes with her husband on jolly trailer jaunts from their home here, has a feature illustrated story in Trailer Travel magazine, leading national journal.
