CULINARY + COMMUNITYIn addition to work at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, SSA's culinary team has proudly done a lot of work within the Monterey community. Some of those programs are: LOCAL FISHERMEN INITIATIVESSA hosted a sit-down meet and greet with approximately 60 local fishermen in order to re-establish ties and begin the rebuilding of these important relationships. The significance of these relationships has assisted in the building of what is now one the country's most talked about fishing communities.

MONTEREY BAY FISHERIES TRUST (MBFT)SSA is focused on rebuilding the local seafood supply chain both in the short-term and long-term. This includes working with the MBFT on establishing goals and future plans to keep that supply sustainable.

HALF MOON BAY SOS SEAFOOD FESTIVALThrough participation in this event, SSA's goal was to highlight the important role our oceans and fishing industry play in our communities. The main focus was on how sustainable practices and eating locally can contribute to a healthier planet.

Chef Matt Beaudin was selected as one of the Chef Representatives for

Seafood Watch and has since taken on public facing events and

speaking roles on behalf of SSA and Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Additionally, Chef Matt was awarded the 2017 Seafood

Champion Award for Vision, and was also nominated as a White
