AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT
Dear Brothers and Sisters, Holy Week is such a beautiful time of year in
which all the mysteries of our faith reach
their culmination. Don’t let this week pass
you by as just another ordinary and busy
week before Easter. Please attend our Holy
Week liturgies if your schedule permits. In
addition to attending the Holy Week liturgies, here are
just a few thoughts and suggestions for more fully
entering these days:
If your evening is open on Monday, consider driving
down to the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona
for the Chrism Mass with Bishop Quinn at 7:00pm. The
Chrism Mass is a truly unique experience. The Mass
focuses on two main things: the consecration of the
holy oil (the oil of the infirm used for the anointing of the
sick, the oil of catechumens used before baptism, and
the sacred chrism oil used for baptism, confirmation,
and the ordination of priests), and the priests present
for the Mass renew the promises of ordination. There
are not many other places in which you’ll find more
priests gathered together in one location. It’s such a
beautiful liturgy and I recommend going!
Spend extra time this week in prayer. After the
conclusion of the Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s
Supper, we will be preparing the St. Therese Chapel at
St. Charles Borromeo as “the Garden” where Jesus
went to pray prior to his crucifixion. Won’t you spend
some time here with him in prayer? You will certainly
see how this chapel will be transformed into somewhat
of a garden experience. What a beautiful and
profound way for us to connect to a moment in time
from over 2,000 years ago. Amazing that we still
observe this tradition today. Be a part of something
that is life-changing!
In addition to our Good Friday service, please consider
taking part in the Divine Mercy Novena. On Good
Friday, this special Novena begins, leading up to Divine
Mercy Sunday. You can find all the information to
participate in this Novena by going to our Website or
Facebook. We are blessed to once again be hosting a
special Divine Mercy Sunday celebration and
observance at Holy Redeemer the first Sunday after
Easter. This has become a wonderful annual tradition.
Thank you to all of those that assist in this beautiful
liturgy.
Whether at home, work or school, let us do our best to
keep these days sacred. Let us pray for each other.
You are loved by God! Fr. Tim
P.s. Don’t forget about going to Confession!

IHN/ Family Promise Holy Redeemer will host INH/Family Promise at the
church Rectory at 23 3rd Street in Eyota during Holy
Week. We will need AM and PM van drivers, meal
servers, and overnight hosts. Please consider
volunteering during this week as a wonderful Christian
service at the end of the Lenten Season. If interested
in volunteering please contact Kathy Schumann at
phone #507-226-1266. If you have not done so, you
may need to do a training session to volunteer.
If there are enough interested individuals we can
have the Family Promise Director come out here to
do a training session. Let me know immediately if you
wish to volunteer. Volunteers needed 2-3 times a
year, not a huge commitment.
Cor Jesu The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart invites you and
your friends and family to attend Cor Jesu, on Friday,
April 6th, 2018, from 7-9PM. Cor Jesu is an evening of
Eucharistic Adoration, Confessions, and music in honor
of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. All are welcome to at-
tend! For more details, search for Winona Cor Jesu on
Facebook, go to cascwinona.org/prayer/corJesu, or
call Kristopher Kaufman at (859) 760-1619 or Steven
Lehn at (507) 312-9041.
Extraordinary Minister of Communion Training We will have a training for all Extraordinary Ministers of
Communion after all the weekend Masses at Holy
Redeemer and St. Charles Borromeo on March 24/25
(choose one Mass) with a Commissioning Mass at all
Masses (the one you usually attend) the weekend of
April 7/8. Please pick up a packet of information in
the entrance and add your name to the list once you
have received it. (This training is for those that assist
during Mass and not for Homebound Ministry).
Pontifical Good Friday Collection Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the
Pontifical Good Friday Collection, which helps
Christians in the Holy Land. Your support helps the
church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools
and offer religious education. The wars, unrest and
instability have been especially hard on Christians. In
these times of crisis, the Pontifical Good Friday
Collection provides humanitarian aid to refuges.
When you contribute you become an instrument of
peace and join with Catholics around the world in
Solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land.
Please Be Generous.
Adoration Eucharistic Adoration at St. Charles Borromeo during
Holy Week will start after the 7pm Mass on Holy
Thursday and go until 12 Noon on Good Friday. Please
note, that in keeping with Liturgical guidelines, instead
of a Monstrance, the Eucharist will be placed in a
different tabernacle that will be left open on the "Altar
of Repose" located in the St. Therese Chapel. All are
welcome to spend time in silent prayer.
Butterbraid Sales Serving your last butterbraid for Easter brunch? You
are in luck, the workcamp team will be selling
butterbraids the weekend of April 7/8, for delivery
April 18th. Samples will be available April 7/8
following Mass.
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As of this writing, thank you to the 62 households at St. Charles Borromeo and the 10 households at Holy
Redeemer that have already pledged their support for our parish and diocesan needs for our 2018 Catholic
Ministries Appeal. Thank you very much!
For those that have not responded, please prayerfully consider making a gift, and know that your gift will help
fund critical ministries that benefit more than 147,000 Catholics and countless others throughout southern
Minnesota!
Renew Faith, Extend Mercy, Inspire Hope, the theme for this year's Appeal, directs us to the example set
by Christ, who is the head of our Church and the embodiment of who we are as Catholics. He offers us an
infinite amount of love and mercy that flows from His Most Sacred Heart. We are strengthened through
Him to Renew Faith, Extend Mercy and Inspire Hope for the world as we come together as one body, the
Church.
Here is another example of how the Catholic Ministries Appeal assists us locally::
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program was a powerful experience that we are so thankful we
were able to undergo together. Through the support of great leaders, fellow candidates, and
parishioners in the Catholic community, we were able to engage in open, thought provoking
conversations and lessons focused on the Catholic Faith in a safe, positive environment. Because we
chose to complete the program together despite the fact that I (Hannah) was already Catholic, these
conversations carried over from the comfort of the meetings into our own home. This allowed us to not
only grow in our faith but also our relationship as
a couple, and we could not be more thankful
for the impact that this has had on our
marriage as we continue to engage in
conversations surrounding scripture, prayer, and
weekly mass together. While participating in
the program, we were fortunate to have the
experience of The Call to Continuing
Conversion in Austin where we were able to
witness other individuals in our dioceses
embarking on the same journey, which
provided encouragement that we were not
alone in the process. This created another level
of support through this journey. Upon
completion of the RCIA program, we
celebrated a beautiful Easter Vigil Mass
amongst parishioners and family where Josh
was fully welcomed into the Catholic Faith and the Parish Community. We greatly appreciate the
experience that this program provided us! Hannah and Josh
Along with improved facilities at Holy Redeemer and a new sign at St. Charles Borromeo, together, we can
make a difference … here and throughout southern Minnesota! Thank you for your living out the mission of
our Church: Go Make Disciples! - Fr. Tim
