Celebrating 20 Years of Excellence in Education

High Point Christian Academy is committed to Christ-centered, quality education and academic excellence in partnership with family and church within a loving, caring atmosphere.

UNITED in prayer. Acts 1:14 “They all met together and were constantly UNITED in prayer.”

See You At The Pole is about students uniting themselves in prayer before God, interceding for their generation. All around the globe, in every time zone, students gathered at their flagpoles, praying for their school, friends, families, churches, and communities. See You At The Pole is a day committed to global unity in Christ and prayer for their generation.

High School Bible teacher Mr. Bingham and student praise team member Hunter Curlee led the students and parents in worship songs. Between songs, students prayed in small groups.

CREATION VIDEOS

Mr. Oakley, 1st grade teacher, is a leader in the implementation of instructional technology. From green screen video production to student-created digital books, Mr. Oakley discovers new ways each year to enrich and extend the "e-learning" in his classroom. This year, using Animoto and iMovie, the first grade students chose a video template, selected music, imported pictures, typed their script, and narrated their own Creation Story.

Watch a few of our first graders' unique Creation Video projects.

1. Kindergarteners drew their names on paper and transferred them to the iPads.

2. Using the app Makerbot Printshop, they transformed them into 3D images.

3. Their images were printed on the MakerBot 3D printer.

4. Each student was able to take home their personally created name.

Rachel Davis is a 7th grade student at HPCA and she was burdened for the American troops when her family had a celebration for her cousin in the Air Force. He told her that he and other troops did not have a Bible. She began collecting Bibles from HPCA, her church lost and found, AGAPE store in Archdale, and the Goodwill. She has collected over 110 Bibles and will ship them to Ft. Bragg. If you have new or used Bibles to donate, the bin is located by the receptionist’s desk in the TK-8 building.

Mark and Connie Loy came to Green Street Baptist Church in January 2005, after serving churches in North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and Tennessee. Mark is the Worship pastor at GSBC and Connie is a Music Assistant. Mark has a master’s degree in church music with a ministry concentration and a bachelor’s degree in music. Connie also has a master’s degree in church music with a minor in youth ministry and a bachelor’s degree in music education. The Loys have three sons, David, Jonathan, and Stephen. David, a 2014 HPCA graduate and 2015 graduate of The Blackbird Academy, lives in Nashville where he works as an audio engineer. Jonathan and Stephen are very active in the music ministry of GSBC, as well as the band program at HPCA. They also have two international "sons": Jae Kwon, HPCA class of 2015, and Xander Jiang, 10th grade at HPCA.

Over the years, Mark and Connie have worked with children, youth, and adults, to develop choirs, ensembles, and instrumental groups, teaching and training them to offer their best music for His glory. Mark conducts Bible studies, Connie teaches children, and their sons are all musicians, singing and playing in church occasionally. The Loys also have a real heart for missions and have coordinated seven mission trips with adults and students in the United States and Central America since they have been at GSBC. They believe that one of the greatest ways to grow in your spiritual walk is by serving others and sharing the love of Christ. We appreciate the ministry of Mark and Connie Loy.

Pat Wheeler (HPCA TK-8 Resource teacher) and her husband traveled to Africa on a surprise anniversary trip. “We began our incredible journey in Nairobi, Kenya, where we visited an elephant orphanage, a giraffe rehabilitation facility, and Karen Blixen's home (“Out of Africa"). We traveled to four different national parks and reserves in

both Kenya and Tanzania in order to ‘safari’--a Swahili word for ‘journey.’” Read the rest of the story and view a photo gallery.

Our Elementary Yearbook is printed by TreeRing and this year we were named one of their Green Yearbook Schools. HPCA sold 165 yearbooks last year, and with their partner, Trees for the Future, there were 165 trees planted in our school's name. Not only do we get a yearbook that captures school memories, but we can also have confidence in the sustainable and environmentally conscience approach they take in producing them. #nextgeneration

Alex Stewart and April Kirkland, seniors at HPCA, are sponsoring the afterschool group Code Club for Kids. Cougar Cup Golf Tournament

Thank you to all of the golfers, sponsors, and volunteers for supporting the 2015 annual golf tournament. Over $40,000 was raised for the athletic budget! Our webpage lists the team and prize winners. Our Premier Sponsor is ServiceMaster Building Care and Double Diamond sponsors are Cook Out, Murrow’s Transfer, and Central Carolina Dermatology.

An email from one of our golfers, and a father of current and graduated students at HPCA: “I just wanted to say a big ‘Well Done’ to all of you who put together the Cougar Cup. My group enjoyed it very much. Throughout the day, I heard comments like:

‘Your people here are so friendly.’ ‘This is well organized.’ ‘It's good to see the spiritual emphasis.’

I know that these tournaments don't just happen. It takes a lot of hard work, coordination and is probably a little frustrating at times. It came together great and was very much appreciated! As one who is in many Christian schools on a regular basis, I can tell you that there is a different atmosphere at HPCA. One I pray we will always preserve. To serve the Lord first, and make all other attempts secondary.”
