• Derailleur Angle & Twisto Accessible via Setting menu toggle.
o Measures degree of bend and twist between the cassette and the jockey pulley centerline. It is not the angle relationship of the hanger to the rim edge.
o Useful for knowing when to seek professional repair, or confirming accuracy of repairs made.
o A bend angle or twist greater than 2° equals significant bend or misalignment which may result in an inaccurate tune and/or poor shifting. Seek repair or replacement from a professional.

• Minimized Instructions
o Accessible via Settings menu toggle.
o Reduces number of steps in the process.
• Recommended only once you are familiar with the steps.
• Designed for professional mechanic use

Using the Product
OTTO Tuning System – Getting Started
• QR RegistrationAfter receiving OTTO Tuning System hardware and installing App on iPhone, you will be asked to scan the QR code found on the inside lid of the box using the rear-facing camera. This registers the serialized gauges with a specific phone.
• Camera CalibrationYou will be prompted to perform a one-time camera calibration so OTTO can adjust to the unique lens model of your iPhone. This is done with the front-facing camera.

OTTO Tuning System – How To Install Gauges
• Visit YouTube or Vimeo to watch How-To video.
• The orange gauge will clip onto the upper jockey pulley and the blue gauge slides between the frame and the cassette. o For proper installation of the orange gauge, rotate the derailleur all the way up
towards the back of your bike, and the gauge will clip right onto the upper jockey pulley. Don’t force it - you will feel it snap into place. It helps to slightly roll it onto the pulley.
o The blue gauge is installed after the orange gauge. The black fork slides onto the rear axle between the bike frame and the cog set. Be sure to gently push down on the gauge to make sure it is seated all the way onto the cassette. For the most accurate measurements, the blue gauge should not be aligned next to the bike’s frame. In that situation, rotate the gauge slightly forward
• Gauges are dependent on one another and must be installed so that the faces of each are roughly parallel, as shown in the picture. If the gauges are not aligned parallel (or slightly inward to one another), you will have difficulty seeing all targets when OTTO asks “Show Me the Targets.”
• There are two types of jockey pulleys: long tooth and short tooth. If you can’t get the gauge to easily clip into place it’s possible you have the wrong size gauge. Contact OTTO re: interchangeable jockey pulley adapter.

OTTO Tuning System – How To Hold Phone & Find Targets
• Visit YouTube or Vimeo to watch How To video
• Hold the phone naturally, as you would if you were making a call, or use a phone stand.
• Hold phone in left hand so you can shift, brake and pedal with your right hand.
• The best position for the phone is approximately 4 inches off the rear tire and held so that the front-facing (selfie) camera is pointed at the rear axle of the bike. It’s helpful to position the phone approximately parallel to the gauges.o Aim the camera lens, not the screen, at the rear axle
• You may see the screen adjust, getting lighter or darker. This is normal and is the camera automatically adjusting the ISO to get the best lighting.o Make sure you are not pointing the camera directly at a light source, like a bright bulb or the sun. You want
your light source to the side and to the back of the bike. Diffuse indoor lighting is ideal. You want the vision targets to be visible and not overly shadowed. You may need to re-position your bike for best lighting.

OTTO Tuning System – Setting Up A Bike Profile
August 2016 © OTTO DesignWorks
• You will be asked to select the speed, derailleur, and no. of teeth on both the largest and smallest rear cog.
• You can name the bike profile and take or select a photo.o You can create unlimited bike profiles (requires IAP)
• You can switch between profiles by selecting the bike symbol (“Bikes Profiles”) on the bottom left of the Home screen. This will show you all available bike profiles. o If you want to check the tune on another bike and you have NOT completed the In-App Purchase to unlock the
capability to add more bike profiles, you will need to complete the In-App purchase or will have to delete the existing profile and lose your tune history.

OTTO Tuning System – Checking Your Derailleur
August 2016 © OTTO DesignWorks
• Visit YouTube or Vimeo and watch video.
• Takes one measurements in 4th gear in under 30 seconds.
• Produces OTTO Index Score. Target is 0.000 +/- 0.125.
• A negative score below 0.000 (e.g. - 0.385) means the barrel adjustment must be turned clockwise [CW] for precise shifting*.
• A positive score below 0.000 (e.g. + 0.425) means the barrel adjustment must be turned counterclockwise [CCW] for precise shifting*.
* Assumes proper limit screw settings. Scores with high deviation from 0.000 will require Complete Tune.
• Gives consumer choice of best guess fiddling, running an OTTO Tune, or taking to local bike shop for service.

OTTO Tuning System – Tuning Your Bike
• Each step is spoken aloud by Siri and reinforced with written instructions and images on the phone screen. You can repeat the instructions as needed, or toggle Minimized Instructions if you are a frequent or trained user.
• Fast Tune
o OTTO takes 2 measurements: one in 4th gear and one in a larger gear (i.e. 10th gear on a 11 speed cassette, or 9th
gear on a 10 speed cassette)
o OTTO then aligns derailleur to the preferred OTTO position for even shifting across the cassette. Individual preferences/biases may vary.
• Complete Tune
o OTTO begins by “de-tuning” the bike (i.e. total cable slack).
• The derailleur can then come up against the High Limit screw for OTTO to determine and set the proper position.
• The cable is then re-tensioned to ensure the derailleur goes up against the Low Limit screw, which OTTO will then set.
• OTTO will then remove cable pre-tension and take two final measurements in 3rd gear and the larger gear to adjust the barrel for perfect shifting across the cassette.
• Note: Worn cables, housing, or grimy gears can contribute to less-than-perfect tunes. If your bike has worn or damaged components then those issues should be remedied.
