Many factors ensure OTIS4000 can deliver a quiet li ftride. Using prototypes tested in the tunnels of test tower,OTIS's engineers crafted a car design that achievessmooth air flow, even at high speeds. Cars are designedto provide the requirement ventilation while still sealinglifts from speed generated sound. Using flow-related noiseanalysis, the car ventilation system has been renderedvirtually silent. Acoustic damping materials and otherhighly effective insulators further prevent noise fromentering the car interior. And OTIS's balanced fan featuresa uniquely designed baffle that provides superior forcedventilation with minimal perceptible noise increase.

Smooth

By minimizing vibration from guiderails, as well as fromaerodynamic forces affecting the car, OTIS4000 achievesan astonishingly smooth ride. As a car moves up anddown, inbalances created by the dynamically changingload of the traveling and compensating cables alter theforces on the roller guides. This results in horizontal andvertical vibratio n and, often, noise. OTIS engineersneutralize these factors by determining the proper loadlocations of the suspension points. The process-calleddynamic balancing-dramatically improves ride quality.

Reliability

The robust toothed belt mechanism eliminates the problem of steel cable "stretching" and mechanical"play" which can occur with conventional operators.

The direct belt driving system reduces the moving parts to the max and improves the reliability ofthe door system in further.

A self-cleaning scraper removes small particles and dust in the door operator, improving theperformance and reducing system shutdown arising from door failures.

The car moves to three different landings to attempt to open the doors. If thedoes not reach fully open at any landing, the car is shut down with the doors closed.

Activation of this feature disables all hall calls, while allowing car calls. When the carhas no further demand, it parks with a door open at the last landing served.

When activated the car no longer serves car calls. Hall calls are answered normally.

When the car arrives at hall called landings, the chime on the top of carwill activate. Persons at the landing will hear an arrival tone.

When a car button is pushed the electrical buzzer in the COP will be operated

Using flow-related noiseanalysis, the car ventilation system has been renderedvirtually silent. This feature will initiate Moderate Outgoing Traffic after a designated Down Peakperiod begins and one car arrives at the lobby loaded to a predetermined percent ofcapacity. Down Peak Clock maintains a group of elevators in this mode for the remainderthe designated Down Peak Clock period.

The car shall answer calls in the order in which floors are reached, irrespective of the timesequence in which the calls were registered. There is no up call button in the standardfloors, only car calls shall be answered when the car is traveling in the up direction, and only carcalls and down hall calls shall be answered when the car is traveling in the down direction.

Each car arrives at the lobby, the car is assigned a sector that it will serve. The car willaccept car calls for the landings within its assigned sector. The sectors are determinedtaking the number of floors and dividing by the number of available cars. Theinformation is displayed on each car's ELD display or on permanent signs.

Emergency Medical Car Operation (EMK)

Activation of the emergency medical hall switch activates the in-car buzzer and illuminates alamp in the car and hall. This forces the car to cancel car calls, reassigns hall calls, andnon-stop to the defined medical landing.

The car automatically enters the emergency medical car operation after the doors are open atthe medical return landing. Prior to activation, the door can not be closed and car calls cannot be registered. An active car switch allows car calls to be registered, which automaticallycloses the door and moves the car to the target landing.

ADA Emergency Communications (ADA)

This feature is used in conjunction with a building motion detector provided by others. When asignal is received from the motion detector, one of the following three phases will be initiated:1) Elevator speed will be reduced to a secondary contract speed.2) Elevator will stay in a state of continuous motion.3) Elevator will shut down.NOTE: The enactment of the above levels is dependent upon the severity of the motion detected.

A handicap elevator communications feature that allows for communicationthe car by means other than by voice.

Elevator management system (EMS)(Contract Optional)

Supervisory Control Panel

A monitoring and control system that is used by building management and security personnelobserve and modify elevator operation and performance. EMS can provide time-based control ofsecurity access.

This is a monitoring panel loca ted in the security room that displays the status of all the elevators orescalators operating in the builiding including flooring location, traveling direction, in/out-of service etc.
