A critical viewing of biological and clinical aspects of sinus elevation techniques, including the key elements for implant success, will be presented. Participants will understand principles of: patient selection and CT-diagnosis; flap management, sinus elevation techniques, and suturing methods; decision-making and clinical protocol in osteotome versus lateral window approach; bone grafting layering protocol with autograft, xenograft, and barrier membranes; when to stage the sinus bone graft and implant placement; and diagnosis of problems and management of sinus complications. In the hands-on lab, the focus will be on a lateral window approach using bone-cutting instruments, internal sinus elevation using osteotome techniques, bone graft layering technique with barrier membrane, extraction and sinus treatment, and flap management and suturing methods. Participants will practice on goat maxilla models with microsurgical sinus hand instruments, osteotome instruments, bone graft filler materials, and resorbable membranes.

Clinical Guidelines and Surgical Techniques for Implant Site DevelopmentLimited Attendance | Osteogenics Biomedical designates this activity for 4 continuing education credits.

1 - 5 pm | Hom-Lay Wang, DDS, MSD, PhD | FEE: $695 In the era of esthetic implant dentistry, regeneration of hard and soft tissues prior to implant placement has become a routine, yet challenging, part of clinical practice. Advanced Hard and Soft Tissue Regenerative Techniques in Implant TherapyLimited Attendance | Osteogenics Biomedical designates this activity for 8 continuing education credits.

8 am - 5 pm | Istvan Urban, DMD, MD, PhD | FEE: $1,095 This hands-on workshop on vertical ridge augmentation is designed for the advanced clinician. Participants will understand principles of vertical ridge augmentation, diagnosis and patient selection, treatment planning, surgical preparation and surgical steps, barrier selection, fixation devices, bone harvest regions and techniques, postoperative protocol, principles and practice of mucogingival biology and surgical procedures around dental implants, papilla reconstruction around single implant sites, re-establishment of the vestibule after vertical augmentation, and development of papillae for multiple implant sites in the esthetic region. Hands-on components using a pig mandible will include the use of a newly developed titanium reinforced membrane and various other biomaterials and fixation devices.

Sinus Elevation and GraftingLimited Attendance | Osteogenics Biomedical designates this activity for 4 continuing education credits.

1 - 5 pm | Sascha Jovanovic, DDS, MS | FEE: $695 This hands-on workshop on sinus elevation and grafting is designed for the advanced clinician. Participants will practice on goat maxillamodels with microsurgical sinus hand instruments, osteotome instruments, bone graft filler materials, and resorbable membranes.

In order to achieve better implant placement and final esthetic appearance, implant site development is important in preventing bone loss that often follows tooth extraction. This hands-on workshop, designed for intermediate and advanced clinicians, will feature current extraction socket classification and associated management techniques. Participants will understand extraction socket classification, learn how to manage extraction sockets for implant site development, become familiar with decision-making skills on selecting certain techniques for socket augmentation, know how and when to perform immediate implant placement with PTFE membranes, and know how to use different PTFE membranes for socket and bone augmentation. In addition, recent advancements in using PTFE membranes for socket and immediate implant placement will be demonstrated. The hands-on workshop will utilize pig jaws for socket preservation and socket augmentation and will include the use of PTFE membranes, titanium-reinforced PTFE membranes, allograft bone graft, tenting screws, and membrane fixation screws.
