Subway tuckshop days are on FRIDAY of Week 1 and WEDNESDAY of Week 2. Please remember to use the correct dated form for each order.

To enable us to finalise your child’s order, please remember to attach the appropriately dated form for that day and payment to your Vacation Care bookings.

Without payment your child’s order will not be processed, which will mean your child will not have food on the day.

EASTER 2015 VACATION CARE: In OSHC/Prep Rooms Tuesday 7 April to Friday 17 April 2015

Children require neat, casual clothes, a shady hat and have sunscreen applied every day. To prevent sunburn, please do not dress your child in singlet tops. Children without hat/sunscreen will be required to play in the shade. Please ensure younger children have a spare pair of underpants etc. in case of minor mishaps.

Sports shoes are required for outdoor games – please pack these if boots or sandals are worn to

Vacation Care.

Children need to bring a nutritious morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea each day, except where it is provided as part of the program. Vacation Care staff encourage healthy eating habits and we ask for your support in this by providing nutritious food for your child to bring to the program. Please refrain from sending chips, lollies or other types of high sugar/high fat foods. We recommend eg: fresh fruit, a sandwich, a piece of cheese or tub of yoghurt. As your children use lots of energy during the holidays, please ensure that they have sufficient food and cold drinks to get them through

a whole day.

Please note that as per normal school policy, toys, games and other items from home are not permitted at Vacation Care except where they are requested as part of a particular day’s program.

Children attending Vacation Care may bring their laptops if they wish. Laptop use is limited to certain times of the day and all children are expected to participate in the scheduled activities of the day. Please remind your children the same rules apply in Vacation Care as in term time, with regards to computer games, licenses, the Responsible Use Policy, etc. Any inappropriate games will be confiscated and deleted from their laptops.

IF YOU CHOOSE TO SEND YOUR CHILD ON A SPECIAL EVENT DAY, THEY MUST PARTICIPATE AND SUPPORT THAT ACTIVITY. A LARGE AMOUNT OF ORGANISATION AND PLANNING GOES INTO THE VACATION CARE PROGRAM AND INCURSIONS ARE ARRANGED ON BOOKED NUMBERS. Special event days require payment directly to Vacation Care Staff. This money MUST BE RECEIVED IN CASH (CORRECT MONEY PLEASE) by the morning of the event.

PLEASE NOTE: School ends for Term 1 on Thursday, 2 April.

Due to the Easter public holidays for Good Friday, 3 April and Easter Monday, 6 April

Vacation Care will be closed and not operating on these days.


Booking Policy for Vacation Care

Prior to the start of the holidays, the booking form must be returned directly to Outside School Hours Care staff. Please do not hand forms to the Primary Office or to the classroom teacher.

If you wish to confirm your booking, please feel free to telephone Outside School Hours Care – Tel 3826 3361.

Once the holidays have begun, two processes will be available: (a) bookings or cancellations may be made by Tel 3826 3361. (b) bookings or cancellations may be made by email to [email protected]

Bookings may be made until 3.00pm the day before Care is required and only under special circumstances can bookings be accepted on the day that Care is required.

CANCELLATIONS MUST BE MADE WITH VACATION CARE STAFF BY 3.00PM THE DAY BEFORE, OR FULL FEES WILL BE CHARGED.

Please remember the bookings you have made, and cancel them if you decide you no longer require care over the holidays, as failure to do so WILL INCUR full fee charges for each day that is not cancelled. Staffing is organised on booked numbers.

Fees for Vacation Care

A flat fee of $42.00 per child.

Late fees of $10 .00 per child will apply plus a charge of $1.00 per minute after 6pm.

THINK BIG WHEN YOU COME TO VACATION CARE TODAY!!!

The BIGGER it is, the better it is at Vacation Care today! We will have all the BIG games out

plus some more new ones for the children to enjoy. We often ask the children what they would like to have in the Vacation Care program and this is one day that have requested to have again.

As well as our BIG Connect 4, BIG Snakes and Ladders, BIG Get Knotted (Twister), BIG Body

Bumpers, BIG Chess, BIG Parachute Game and BIG Balls we will have:

Friday, 10 April BATHTUBS AND BOWLS DAY $15.00

To celebrate the end of B Week, the children will be banished to the ARC to race around in the

Bathtubs and on the Bowls.

We have had this activity before at Vacation Care and it was so popular with the children we decided to organise it again. These racers are battery operated, easy to steer and come with their very own safety helmet. The children will be able to race each other and our Vacation Care Racing Drivers on the covered outdoor area.

We will also be having the Bubble Combo Jumping Castle to entertain the children while they are

waiting for their turn to race again.

Week Two

Monday, 13 April WORLD SCRABBLE DAY

Scrabble Day is observed today throughout the world. It celebrates the most popular board game on the birthday of its inventor, Alfred Mosher Butts. Scrabble is a word game in which two to four players score points by forming words from individual lettered tiles on a game board marked with a grid. The words are formed across and down in crossword fashion and must appear in a standard dictionary.

So bring your thinking caps and your own scrabble game from home (if Mum and Dad give permission), so that you can have fun with the staff in making as many words as you can to try and beat us!!!

Tuesday, 14 April LEADERSHIP DAY It has been a little while since we held a Leadership Day in Vacation Care and we recently met with our older students to discuss if they would like to organise another one. They were very enthusiastic with the idea and have already come up with some thoughts on what they would like to do. Many of our older students possess a wide range of abilities and interests and excel in many areas of the College. The students are looking forward to sharing their qualities and to take a leadership role for the day. Their vision is to “buddy-up” with a younger child or group, so they can demonstrate and teach them new skills. The staff at Vacation Care are very impressed with their idea and to acknowledge their initiative, we have organised this day to support them and in doing so will develop their sense of responsibility and self-esteem. The leaders will have total ownership of the day and the staff are looking forward to handing over the reins. Wednesday, 15 April “SPONGEBOB”

SPONGE OUT OF WATER $8.00 The new SpongeBob movie – ‘Sponge Out of Water” has recently been released during the Easter Holidays and the Creative Dance Industries team have been inspired to create another exciting dance incursion for the children to enjoy based on the characters from the movie. Creative Dance regularly visits us at Vacation Care and the children absolutely love it when Michelle and her team come and can’t wait to learn the new routines etc. All the children enjoy the workshops and even our older boys dance along and end up encouraging our younger friends. We know that just mentioning the fun loving characters from the SpongeBob series puts smiles on everyone’s faces. The music mix that will be used is a collection of songs from the new movie and some popular tunes of today. The moves are hip hop based. They are simple yet challenging and the children thoroughly enjoy themselves.

Thursday, 16 April

If you DARE to come to the jungles of Daisy Hill today, you will be in for an adventure of a lifetime!!

All funds raised today will go to our chosen charity: Brainchild Foundation – In Memory of David Hamilton

Did you think you were safe – well guess what? Mrs. Marxsen and the other hosts at Vacation Care registered you all for the new TV show – “I’m a School Kid ….. Get me out of Here!”.

For any school kid who would like to participate in the Tucker Trials and Challenges, they will be able to put their name into the jungle hat to become one of the lucky ten school kids to be chosen. You will have to be brave trying to find the right amount of stars, as the hosts have planned lots of gross activities that will take you out of your comfort zone!!! (Nurse Nadia will be on hand!!)

IF YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE PRESSURE – YELL OUT – I’M A SCHOOL KID…. GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!

All the other school kids in camp will also be part of the Team Trials and Chest Challenges. In the Chest Challenges the children will be given clues to find the chest, bring it back to camp and if they can successfully answer the question inside the chest be given luxury items to enjoy. If they fail, the hosts will enjoy the items!! Some of the activities throughout the day will be:

Secret challenges will be held throughout the day. A chosen school kid will be sent to the TOKTOKKIE to be told what the secret challenge will be. He or she will have to take part in the challenge without alerting the other kids – if they are successful in their mission they will be rewarded.

Friday, 17 April ROCK CLIMBING $15.00 Rock Climbing is an activity the children love at Vacation Care and by popular demand it’s back!! Bring your climbing shoes for an action packed day of climbing the wall. Portable rock climbing is completely safe and is great for team building and communication skills. The climbing relays promote both individual achievement, as well as team work and the children will have a great time getting up and moving. Children of all ages and skill levels will enjoy the challenge of climbing the wall.

Come and see if you can beat the staff up the wall!!
