A Warm ReceptionPeregrine House and Godolphin House have a spectacular double height space at the heart of the design. This contains the kitchen, dining area and a family space with a Riva Studio freestanding wood burning stove by Stovax to provide a cosy and elegant focal point.
The modern, cantilevered staircase leading up from the
reception area is open to the vaulted ceiling and provide a vantage point to fully appreciate the views from the fully glazed gable of the beautiful landscape setting.
The main reception space is double height with a fully glazed gable connecting with the landscape beyond. The glazing is set into the building to provide a covered area with spectacular sliding doors to blur the boundaries between inside and outside.
Views are afforded out into the landscape with double-height glazing which is screened along the southeast elevation by a black timber brise soleil to prevent overheating in the summer.
Connect with Nature
From the outside, the effect during the daytime will be of a dark solid elevation, but during the evening, the building will glow through the timber slats.
During the day, the shadows inside will have dynamic diurnal and seasonal patters and the eye will be drawn past the dark screen into the view of the landscape beyond.

Osborne Park Gardens were to the South of Osborne House (marked as nurseries on the 1866 map) and Parkland and Woodland were laid out to the Northeast of Hawkshead Road.
The influence of London on the history and culture of the area is significant. Large country houses have been located in the area for centuries and the landscape pattern has evolved accordingly. Boundaries have been marked by estate architecture (lodges, walls and fences) and distinctive vegetation types such as avenues and hedge banks. The strong oval shape of the boundary at Nyn Park, demonstrates the historic use of the park for deer, for which the earliest record is 1766.
Welwyn Hatfield Landscape Character Assessment Area 53
The darker areas on the 1866 map illustrate the areas of parkland including Leggatts Park, Nyn Park, Barvin Park and Brookmans Park.
Brookmans Park and Gabions Wood to the north of Osborne Park were the estate of the More Hall since 1300. In 1500 it was held by Sir John More, father of the famous Sir Thomas More, Lord Chancellor, who is said to have written ‘Utopia’ there. More Hall was demolished in 1836.
Leggatts Park was part of the More Estate and in 1881 it was bought by Mr. Samuel Gurney Sheppard whose daughters were subject of the famous painting by Louisa Starr.
On 7th August 1850, Potters Bar Station was opened. Although named Potters Bar, the station was in fact 1.2km (0.7 miles) from both Potters Bar High Street to the East and Osborne Road, Little Heath to the North East.
