Choose your topic. Read the article and complete the Field Notes.

Preparation

a) Prepare a 4-minute speech. You will have +/- 1 minute for this topic. NOTE: If you would like

to show a 1- to 2-minute video of your site, you can. BUT, please tell Julie in advance.

b) It would be wonderful to use the Internet to find some beautiful pictures of your site. Also, you

can do some research if you need extra information on your topic . . . BUT that is not required

and you probably won’t have enough time/much time to share extra information.

- Use only a few words on each slide or no words. Do not write sentences.

Challenge: If you copy words from a book or the Internet, put the words inside quotation marks

(“like this”) or underline them.

- Include some slides with pictures. Pictures are interesting and help people to understand your

topic.

- Check that your English is correct. Type your words in Microsoft Word and go to “Tools” and

“Spelling and Grammar.” Check carefully. The computer does not find every mistake.

d) Practice your presentation. Be sure you can finish in time and use a loud, clear voice.

f) Have 2 or 3 ways that you can reach your PowerPoint presentation. For example, e-mail it to

yourself and also put it on a flash drive.

After your speech

Turn in your outline or note cards.

I will give you an outline to follow. I will also lead you through this major project, step by step.

You will be ready on your presentation day. This is going to be great!
