When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to the small town of Bomont, Ren is prepared for the adjustment period at a new school. What he isn’t expecting are the odd local laws — including a ban
on dancing, put in place by the local Reverend. With the help of Ariel (the Reverend’s daughter)
and his new friends, Ren helps the town heal froma tragedy that affected them all.
Show Synopsis
Directors’ NoteHowdy and welcome to Bomont! Thank you for joining us on this exciting adventure. Although seemingly a show about teenage rebellion and fighting for your rights, Footloose explores deeper roots in fostering both family and community relationships. The collaboration between two creative director disciplines with a shared vision has provided a fresh perspective in the rehearsal
room. The scale of this production has proven to be a challenge, but has been met head-on by the infectious energy of the cast,
production team, and band, showcasing the vast amount of talent and dedication that stems from the Ormond Community. This
show has some incredible highs and some interesting lows, taking audiences on a journey back to the 80s, and we could not be more
excited to bring this work to life.

CastRen McCormack Noah SztoHowdy! You’ve reached Noah Szto, 3rd year Ormondian about to wrap up his Bachelor of Biomedicine. Unfortunately he’s backstage right now and can’t make it to the phone, so please leave your message after the beep, and he’ll try to get back to you. In the meantime, he hopes you enjoy the show as much as he’s treasured being a part of it. Beep.
Ariel MooreMary McCorryMary is so excited to be taking on the role of Ariel, a role unlike any she’s played before. A classically trained Soprano currently studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Music Theatre) at the Victorian College of the Arts, she has seriously enjoyed embracing her inner diva and learning how to belt her face off! It’s been so much fun becoming part of a family through this cast and crew, and Mary deeply hopes people enjoy watching this show as much as she’s enjoyed working on it!
Reverend Shaw MooreMax RamsayYoza, resident New Zealander Max Ramsay here. Stoked to be a part of this absolutely incredible show! Currently, Max is studying a Bachelor of Music, majoring in Interactive Composition. Coming from previous epic musicals such as Hairspray and The Phantom Of The Opera, this production of Footloose has truly rocked his socks off so far. Catch him (for once) without a Logitech UE Boom 2 in his hand, as Reverend Shaw Moore, the leader with the best facial hair since Genghis Khan.
Rusty Jo DalsteadJo is a third year Arts student who is so excited to be a part of the cast of Footloose in her final semester. In previous years she has had the opportunity to be involved in many Ormond productions, including being a cast member of 10 Out Of 12 and Please Be Seated, and the producer of last year’s major production, Chicago. In 2018, she was also lucky enough to play the Witch in ICAC’s Into The Woods and the lead in Chicks Dig It, a show that was a part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival. Jo loves this fun, effervescent and challenging show and hopes you enjoy every moment of it.
Willard Hewitt Scott BakerScott is a first year student studying a Bachelor of Design majoring in Engineering. This is his first year at Ormond College and he is from Albury which is on the NSW border. Scott has had very little previous theatre experience and this will be his first ever major production.
Chuck Cranston Lachlan RobertsLachlan is a second year Science student trying his hand at bringing life to the town douchebag Chuck Cranston. Years of playing dress up and prancing around on stage have prepared him for this moment. When Lachlan’s not acting, you’ll find him training for Connor’s Run.
Vi MooreGreta KantorGreta is a quirky Arts student who enjoys sitting under trees reading penguin books, taking pictures on her disposable and wearing doc martens. She is most renowned for her role as Fergus Frog #3 in her school’s Year 6 production of the hit musical Honk Jr. Greta’s passions include theatre, history, music, and the cooking channel. She is really excited to be a part of Footloose and has thoroughly enjoyed rehearsing with the cast and production team.
Wendy Jo Ophira PorattOphira is from Auckland, New Zealand! She’s been a musical theatre lover since the age of 7 when she started her first musical theatre class. In fact, one of her playlists on Spotify is 12 hours long and is solely dedicated to her favourite musicals. She’s a theatre nerd through and through!
UrleenAnnie DrydenAnnabelle has been dancing since the age of 3 and started taking singing lessons at age 8. She has been leads in school and has had minor roles in professional projects like A Chorus Line, Spamalot, Seussical, Edges, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and many more. She previously studied full-time musical theatre at Brent Street in Sydney to focus on her dancing and musical theatre skills. These days however she focuses more on university and partakes in theatre for the love of it. Annie is super excited to be making her directorial/choreographer debut as well as return to the stage as Urleen.
