Original location idea As you know our original location idea was the beach, chosen by myself, as I thought it was an unusual location for an indie style music video, or for any music video for that matter. I thought it would give our music video a unique style and setting for us, and able to create different, affective scenes with the area we had. After looking around the internet I came across different images with the look myself and the team had in mind and the image in which I would want to convey into the music video. Original location idea

As you know our original location idea was the beach, chosen by myself, as I thought it was an unusual location for an indie style music video, or for any music video for

that matter. I thought it would give our music video a unique style and setting for us, and able to create different, affective scenes with the area we had. After looking around the internet I came across different images with the look myself and the team had in mind and the image in which I would want to convey into the music video. This PowerPoint will show you the different images and the similarities I

captured at Blackpool Beach myself.

The images shows an indie band on a beach. This image set us off with many great ideas for the beach theme. Here they are dressed in suits and 30’s/40’s style, with old suit cases and other material scattered on the beach. As they have kept the mise-en-scene constant throughout, which we will keep the same, just like any music video, so the audience isn’t getting confused with all the different styles and features being thrown at them.As Blackpool is a tourist attraction, this became an advantage to us as it had a variety of scenes to capture and the piers would be interesting too. With the image of what we wanted the music video for ‘So Messed Up’ would look like is romance and passion which we though the beach could portray.

As you can see, just by the picture being black and white gives you a whole different perspective on what the image is capturing and conveying. An old man sitting on a bench on a pier overlooking the water and the other pier a facing. With it being black and white you presume the man is reminiscing of the old times/the good times, or he is just thinking, watching the world go by and how beautiful

the sites are. Many connotations can be portrayed through, you almost feel some emotional connection towards the image. This is something we wanted to capture through our video, the

sense of the audience being captivated and apart of the image. Just by being in black and white the image looks more valuable and authentic within the past.

These image show the extent into the range of things we could create with the beach. That off creating emotions signs in the sand itself. The image with the footprints, I personally think of

romance and love as you think of a couple walking along the beach on a nice early evening. The love heart drawn into the sand speaks for itself, with a couple walking in the distance showing their

relationship. If we were to shoot on the beach we would show different images to portray the song to give the audience a clear visual effect, also to show the couple on the music video having fun, playing around together. Obviously as we are in winter the weather would no be as the images

below, but we would still be able to capture the warmth through the cast on a cold day.

These lack and white images I found on the internet, these are actual images taken from Blackpool pleasure beach. Straightaway these images capture the beauty of the beach. The images are of the

pier and underneath the pier. The images have been taken on an angle, which shows a different view and contrast of a plain, standard frontal picture. As we are media students we like to experiment with

the different angles and shots and this is what we want to portray through the music video, expanding on the different techniques.
