Pain and Gain of Social Media: Origin of Nokpage

First of all, let us all agree to the fact social media have had a drastic influence on our lifestyle. We can also say that it has changed our lifestyle to some extent. We consume more and more information now all thanks to this highly open platform of social media. We are force fed lots of information, and we also seem to like it. There are no side effects per say, except that it eats away lots of our time. Wait! Did I just say no side effects? Sorry, I take that back.

True that idea of social media is a better step in the evolution of human communication. Its onset has urged the decline of instant messaging service and several media tools which were independently used earlier because social media has a lot to offer and it’s a better platform comprising everything you need. Now most of our time is devoted to social media for information and media consumption. We make a digital identity for our real self on this platform giving everything about us from what you like and your whereabouts sharing publicly. Leaving the dubious junk information on my timeline aside, what concerns me most about this platform is the amount of information we give about ourselves to them which conveniently serves their business needs.

We are giving control and ownership of our digital life to an organization that makes money on selling information i.e. we are being reduced to a source of information for their marketing purposes. This is something people have to consider. I think it’s a right time for development of platforms which not only provides value for users but also can align their business model that interest users and respect their privacy. That was the basic idea behind the origin of Nokpage, a personal digital space platform.

Devoid of all junk content you are accustomed to on a public platform, the control and ownership of the content you produce or share are firmly in your hands. While most of the public platforms eat away your time, Nokpage is the probably the only platform out there that respects your privacy and helps you focus on your work.
