Our team, Think Forward, have developed a mobile app called

‘Organisation Station’ to help students who struggle with organisation

or who want to communicate with their teacher but don't actually want

to talk to them face to face in school for one reason or another.

Our target market is secondary school students (age 11-18), and after

carrying out a survey on students in this age range we found that 3 in

ten people struggled to talk to teachers, 7 in ten struggled with

organisation, and 85% of people said they would benefit from an app

that reminded them when to bring in books or homework which is a key

function of our app.

Our app will enable students to message teachers and will alert them

when they need to do homework/bring a book in.

Our device is unique as it allows simple communication with teachers

wherever you are, it reminds you whenever you need to do homework

instead of you having to look yourself plus it stores all your homework

and timetables in one place. Also our survey said that only 9% of

people knew another app that could do any of these things and none

knew any that could do them all.

Our app aims to help students who struggle with

organisation or who want to communicate with their teachers

but can’t do so face to face.

Our app will help people when they have been given

homework to complete, or want to talk to a teacher.

Problem:

-Lack of contact with teachers

-Lack of organisation

Key Questions

How can an app help students organise their work and

communicate with teachers online?

How can students easily improve their organisation?

What would help a student age 11-18?

Key Insights

Students can put reminders on their phone but are not

automatically reminded when they have a lesson.

Also there are opportunities to talk to teachers whilst in

school but some don’t have the time or confidence to do so.

Core Features

Our most valuable feature is being able to contact teachers.

This is because this feature is very unique and no other app

in the store contains this feature. This feature is very much

needed because we believe this could make an improvement

to a student’s education.

Existing Apps

Reminder apps and emailing, however no app combined

these functions. Plus none contain students details and timetables automatically.

We created a publisher document with hyperlinks to simulate the app.

Marketing Strategy

We plan to:

• Send digital copies of posters advertising our app to

different schools who could benefit from our app.

• Use social media to spread the word about our innovative

idea.

• Put up posters outside/in public buildings advertising our

app and outlining it’s advantages

Expert Help

We skyped an expert in the app industry (Paul Berney) who

gave us advice on how to improve and advertise our app. He

spoke to us about owned, bought and earned advertising and

how we could use them.

We have already got support for our app through Twitter. So far we have got 28 followers and counting. We hope to continue to gain more followers through the next few weeks. We have also been tweeted by an expert, Daniel Harvey, and From Apps for Good themselves.
