Visit 2 private Princeton residential gardens and learn how to match plants to existing site conditions. Properties include a once wooded lot overrun with noxious weeds, now a reclaimed woodland garden rich in plant diversity. Speaker Biography

Richard A. McCoy: With over 25 years of experience, education, and training in the field oflandscape design, maintenance and installation, Richard is the president of Richard McCoyHorticultural Services, Inc, Fine Gardening and Organic Lawn Care. Richard works side-by-sidewith his clients and employees to design and construct distinctive and environmentally-friendlylandscapes. Richard has worked with clients to show their gardens on The Garden Club ofAmerica Tour 2010 and has been a featured speaker at the Morris County Park Commission'sOrganic Lawn Care Seminars, Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morristown, Stony Brook-MillstoneWatershed Association, and many other Garden Clubs and associations throughout New Jersey.He has hosted homes shown with the Princeton Environmental Commission's Green Home andGarden Tours and has contributed to the Sustainable Lawrence Green Everything yearly event.During the Fall of 2013, McCoy Horticultural Services welcomes The Pennsylvania HorticulturalSociety for a garden tour. Currently Richard is a member of the Rutgers Cooperative ExtensionOrganic Land Care Working Group helping to form New Jersey's state standards for organic landcare and the coordination of the five-day Organic Land Care Certification Course. Bill Hlubik is a professor and County Agricultural and Resource Management Agent for RutgersCooperative Extension of Middlesex County, NJAES. Bill grew up on a farm in Chesterfield, NJand went on to complete his undergraduate and graduate studies at Rutgers University, where hehas served as a faculty member for 24 years. Bill has expertise in plant pathology, ornamentals,lawn and vegetable plant production and management, as well as organic and traditional farmingand landscape care. Michele Bakacs is a County Environmental Agent with Rutgers Cooperative Extension ofMiddlesex/Union Counties. Michele completed her graduate studies in Ecology and Evolution atRutgers University and has 17 years of experience in water resource management andenvironmental conservation. Michele is the chair of the Rutgers Organic Land Care working groupand helps to run the Rutgers Organic Land Care Certification Program, a new certification forprofessional land care providers focused on organic practices that promote healthy soil, enhancebiodiversity, and reduce polluted runoff from managed landscapes.
