he USF Health Divisions of Allergy and Immunology’s 2016 Symposium & Rhinolaryngoscopy Hands-On Workshop Update in Allergy and Immunology will focus on the latest breakthroughs and recommendations to evaluate the management of common dermatologic problems, eosinophilic and

mast cell disorders, atopic diseases, and suspected immunodeficiency. Other subjects include asthma and COPD, food allergy, and various forms of immunotherapy to treat allergic diseases. The rhinoscopy hands-on workshop is designed to train clinicians in the use of fiberoptic rhinolaryngoscopy to evaluate upper airway diseases. The workshop provides hands-on procedure training using simulation as well as standardized patients to measure performance in a safe environment. Upon successful completion of the workshop, participants are expected to obtain a higher comfort level and familiarity with the rhinolaryngoscopic examination of the upper airway.

TTarget Audience This program is designed to meet the educational needs of primary care physicians, pediatricians, emergency medicine specialists, allergy/immunology specialists, nurses, physician assistants, advanced nurse practitioners, residents, students and any other healthcare practitioners who care for patients with allergic and immunologic disorders. There are two choices for physician attendees:

1. To take the hands-on rhinoscopy course followed by the Friday afternoon and Saturday morning conference (20 physicians only).

2. For those who do not take the rhinoscopy course, there is a full day conference on Friday and a half-day conference on Saturday morning.

Learning ObjectivesAs a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to:

• Recognize the most common dermatologic problems seen in the clinical practice

• Recognize eosinophilic and mast cell disorders

• Evaluate a patient for possible immunodeficiency

• Identify diagnosis and treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

• Learn how to diagnose and treat food allergy

• Identify the different forms of immunotherapy and how they should be used to treat allergic rhinoconjunctivitis and allergic asthma

• Perform a diagnostic examination of the upper airway with a flexible rhinoscope

This program does not require prerequisites. Learning objectives apply to all professions in the target audience.

he USF Health Divisions of Allergy and Immunology’s 2016 Symposium & Rhinolaryngoscopy Hands-On Workshop Update in Allergy and Immunology will focus on the latest breakthroughs and recommendations to evaluate the management of common dermatologic problems, eosinophilic and

mast cell disorders, atopic diseases, and suspected immunodeficiency. Other subjects include asthma and COPD, food allergy, and various forms of immunotherapy to treat allergic diseases. The rhinoscopy hands-on workshop is designed to train clinicians in the use of fiberoptic rhinolaryngoscopy to evaluate upper airway diseases. The workshop provides hands-on procedure training using simulation as well as standardized patients to measure performance in a safe environment. Upon successful completion of the workshop, participants are expected to obtain a higher comfort level and familiarity with the rhinolaryngoscopic examination of the upper airway.

TTarget Audience This program is designed to meet the educational needs of primary care physicians, pediatricians, emergency medicine specialists, allergy/immunology specialists, nurses, physician assistants, advanced nurse practitioners, residents, students and any other healthcare practitioners who care for patients with allergic and immunologic disorders. There are two choices for physician attendees:

1. To take the hands-on rhinoscopy course followed by the Friday afternoon and Saturday morning conference (20 physicians only).

2. For those who do not take the rhinoscopy course, there is a full day conference on Friday and a half-day conference on Saturday morning.

Learning ObjectivesAs a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to:

• Recognize the most common dermatologic problems seen in the clinical practice

• Recognize eosinophilic and mast cell disorders

• Evaluate a patient for possible immunodeficiency

• Identify diagnosis and treatment of Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

• Learn how to diagnose and treat food allergy

• Identify the different forms of immunotherapy and how they should be used to treat allergic rhinoconjunctivitis and allergic asthma

• Perform a diagnostic examination of the upper airway with a flexible rhinoscope

This program does not require prerequisites. Learning objectives apply to all professions in the target audience.
