A full day of intensive ultrasound teaching and practice aimed at the competencies for CORE (Level 1) Emergency Ultrasound as set out by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine. Our course in-cludes FAST scanning in trauma, abdominal aortic assessment, ul-trasound guided vascular access and echo in life support as well as scanning for pneumothoraces.
The course includes:
Lectures covering the theoretical and practical aspects of emergency ultrasound (lectures are provided on a USB stick to take home)
Practical teaching in small groups on normal subjects, real patients—depending on situation—and simulators (e.g. vas-cular access simulation model)
Lots of ‘hands on’ scanning practice under the supervision of our experienced faculty
Lots of clinical tips for success with ultrasound at the bedside and how to get the best images
Advice on governance and on maintaining your ultrasound logbook of scans.
