ObituaryMs. Audrey Helena Singleton
A Devoted Mother, A Loving Grandmother, A Faithful Friend
“It is not our purpose to question God, or to fully understand the mysteries of His Divine Providence, but tohumbly put our faith and trust in Him, for He is too wise to error and too just to be unkind”
On Sunday, January 27, 2008, at 6:10 p.m., the concluding chapter in God’s Book of Life for our belovedAudrey Helena Singleton, was peacefully revealed through His Divine Will at the home of her loving son Alvis,while surrounded by her dear family members.
Audrey or “Kitty” as she was affectionately called by her dear family and friends resided her entire life in the vil-lage of Chester, Virginia at 3901 Curtis Street, a place where she loved to call “Home,” and was openly welcomedto everyone.
Audrey was the youngest of two children born to the late Atla Fisher Carroll and Walter Singleton, on Thursday,March 26, 1942. Her loving “big brother”, Walter Raynor Singleton preceeded her in death in April of 1989.
Audrey was educated in the Chesterfield County Public School System and was a proud and loyal member of theGeorge Washington Carver High School Class of 1960. She was gainfully employed for a number of years withthe David M. Lee Corporation and Miller Manufacturing Company. She later began doing domestic work for fam-ilies within her community before her retirement. At an early age she confessed Christ as her personal Savior andwas baptized at the Historic First Baptist Church of Centralia, where she was an active and supportive member formany years. Later in life, God’s Holy Spirit moved upon her heart to unite in membership with The Amazing GraceWorld Fellowship Church in Chesterfield, Virginia under the pastorate of its beloved founder, Rev. Dr. Linwood W.Carroll Sr. She was a devout worshipper in her attendance and participation even during the final days of her illness.Her faith and determination were manifested by her sincere belief that God was always by her side. She tookconfidence in her favorite scripture, Psalm 23, for truly …”The Lord was her Shepherd”….
On Monday, December 6, 1965, Audrey’s life was incredibly blessed with a wonderful, caring, adoring son , AlvisLeonard Singleton. Without a doubt, Alvis was the “apple of his mommy’s eyes.” Audrey was the essence andthe epitome of a loving and devoted mother. Her life was even more complete when her darling son married hisloving wife, Lisa and they were blessed with a son, Devante. She showered her love and sincere affection uponher family, especially her grandchildren. Her presence will be sorely missed by her family and her many dearfriends. We Thank God for allowing her to be such a blessing to each of us !

… A LOVING MESSAGE WRITTEN TO ALVIS BY HIS MOTHER ON HER FINAL RETURNFROM THE HOSPITAL …
“Alvis … I am so happy to be home once again to lay down in my own bed. Thank You for everythingyou have done for me…” Love, Your Mother Audrey!”
(On the back of this message she wrote the words to the 23rd Psalm)
“A MESSAGE FROM AUDREY”
I am home in Heaven, dear loved ones;Oh, so happy and so bright
There is perfect joy and beautyIn God’s everlasting light
All the pain and grief is over,Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,Safely Home in Heaven at last!
Did you wonder why I so calmlyTrod the valley of the shade?
Oh, But with the arm of Jesus to lean uponCould I have one doubt or dread?
You must not grieve so sorely,For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,Pray and trust our Father’s Will
There is work still waiting for you,So you must not idly stand;Do it now! While life remainsYou shall rest in Jesus’ Land.
When that work is all completed,He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,Oh the JOY to see you come!
The late Ms. Audrey Helena Singleton(“Kitty”)
