SPECIALIST HIGH SKILLS MAJOR PROGRAMS
The Specialist High Skills Major Program (SHSM) allows students to focus on a skill‐set and area of knowledge in a par cular sector. As you work towards the OSSD, you can also ob‐tain a SHSM designa on on your diploma. This makes you par cularly well prepared for
the post‐secondary des na on of your choice.
Eight sectors are offered at ODSS in the SHSM program:
Arts & Culture Business Construc on Environment
Health & Wellness Hospitality & Tourism—Culinary Transporta on Manufacturing
Your Co‐op placement will be related to your sector providing a valuable work experience in your area of specializa on. A minimum of 2 Co‐op credits are required for SHSM in
your chosen sector.
You must also complete the compulsory credits to earn your OSSD and the necessary mandatory credits which are required for your SHSM according to your chosen post‐secondary pathway—Appren ceship Training, College, University or Workplace.
There are numerous Sector Recognized Cer fica ons and Training which will include quali‐fica ons in areas such as First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, Safe Food Handling, Fall Safety, Smart
Serve, and many more. These will give you advanced training. Your OSSD will be a special diploma indica ng that you have successfully completed the SHSM requirements. See

DUAL CREDIT COURSES
Dual Credits are college courses that count on both your secondary school diploma as well as a college program. We offer Dual Credit courses in the appren ceship and college pathways at Conestoga, Georgian and Humber Colleges. Dual Credit stu‐

eLearning Courses are credit courses authorized by the Ontario Ministry of Educa‐on through e‐Learning Ontario. Students and teachers use the Provincial Virtual

DHP—Digital Historian Project
The Digital Historian Project is an experien al learning partnership between the Upper Grand District School Board and the Dufferin County Museum and Archives. DHP is geared towards Grade eleven students who wish to pursue a deep understanding of Canadian History.
