Welcome back members to another spring at MCA!

There is a lot of work going on in the park even before the season "officially" opens

in May. The BOD and committees have worked all through the winter to prepare for

the upcoming season. Our A-Frame ladies’ room renovation is back on track and

hopefully will be ready by opening weekend. I would like to give a special thank you

on behalf of MCA to the anonymous people who have donated their time and talent

working on this major project. Jon, Dylan, David and Corey, our hard working

maintenance crew are also working on this project and are making sure that the

park is ready for Memorial Day weekend. Please welcome Michelle Claypoole as

MCA's new office coordinator. Also welcome our seasonal office workers, Jen and

Angie. Other projects in the works are the new cement patio and ramps that are

going to be installed at the A-Frame, from the front dining hall entrance over to the

storefront in the fall. I would like to give a shout out to the Teen Committee that

graciously offered to hold a fund raiser to help purchase new street signs for every

street in the campground. Also, a note of thanks to Social Committee for the pur-

chase of new heaters and air changers in the Bingo Hall. The sewage plant con-

struction is continuing and we are still looking for the completion to be done by end

of this season. Keith Edwards will have more on this in his article. The committees

are starting to gear up for their functions to make sure that the membership has a

fun filled camping season. Please help them if you can as these events benefit all

members of MCA. At this time, I would like to remind all members that there has

been some changes this year, in particular the building permits issued by Brady

When we are in construction mode, there will be a safety zone established around

the perimeter of the project and no unauthorized persons shall be allowed across

these barriers. Regular updates on projects are put out for the members via the

website or the newsletter, so please folks, be safe and keep our employees safe by

following this advice. This is also the time of year when we ask all members to

make sure the office has all of your current information for mailings, phone num-

bers in case we have to contact you with an emergency, etc. This should be re-

viewed and updated at least once a year by the membership. We also ask that you

follow your rules pertaining to cleaning up your lot, making sure you have your lot

number visible on your trailer from the street for emergency purposes, your assess-

ment stickers for air conditioners and second refrigerators in your window and also

on the front and back of your golf carts. If you encounter a problem that requires

maintenance, DO NOT go to Jon's apartment or engage the members of the mainte-

nance crew as they must follow procedures on work details. You should call or stop

by the office and request a work order, or get in touch with a BOD member. Please

be safe and have an enjoyable 2017 camping season.

Welcome Back Campers! I hope that you all had a healthy, happy winter season. I

sure am happy for longer days and warmer nights! We have had quite a few chang-

es over the winter months and are working to get camp ready for the season. The

sewage plant is on point to be completed on time. So far we have had only one

overage for just a few thousand dollars. We were delayed in starting the women’s

bathroom project this winter but it should be completed by Memorial Day weekend.

We attempted to have the A Frame walkways redone, however the project is much

bigger and costly than we anticipated and we will hopefully be able to attempt this

at the end of the season, or early next spring. It’s a priority for sometime this year.

Please stop in the office and introduce yourself to our new Office Manager,

Michele. She has been working hard the last few months to get our office in order

and ready for you. I believe you will find a very pleasant and positive atmosphere.

Michele has hired a couple smiling faces to get us through the season.

While you are busy opening up for the season, take a few minutes to read your

Rules & Regulations and make sure you are on top of the expectations you have

placed on yourself and other campers.

We are working very hard to get better at a number of things around camp this sea-

son. Please feel free to let me know where you feel we can make improvements. I

hope that you recognize the hard work of our employees when you see a good job!

As always, if you have any questions please feel free to reach out.

Welcome back everyone to a bright new year, 2017. Please take a moment of your

time and welcome our new office coordinator, Michele Claypoole, to our organiza-

tion. She is definitely a wonderful asset and has been working very hard to organize

our office and managing our needs. There are so many events scheduled this year.

We are really going to have a great camping season so please review the events

calendar on the website, www.mcacamplands.org, and participate with your friends

and family. If you have the opportunity to help out at one of the events, let them

know, they can always use a lending hand.

F RO M T H E T R E A S U R E R Welcome back campers! It was a very busy off-season transitioning into the Treas-

urer’s position. We spent many countless hours negotiating contracts and research-

ing health insurance options for our employees. We also continue to be on track for

the Sewage Plant budget and have paid approximately 50% of the invoices for the

project.

As you are all aware, the 2017-2018 budget was passed and approved at the

March BOD meeting with a moderate increase of $50. The entire Audit and Budget

committee worked very hard this year to keep the increase to a minimum. I would

like to thank everyone involved in preparing this very important document for MCA.

The end of another fiscal year is upon us and we are now preparing for the yearly

audit. It will be an extremely busy few months preparing, along with the office staff,

bookkeeper, and committee to ensure that everything is in order for Maher Duessel.

If anyone is interested in the obtaining a copy of any of the Budget reports and/or

meeting minutes, please stop by the office and request a copy for a nominal charge.

Please make sure that your member file is up to date regarding address and phone

number information. This is our primary means of communication with our mem-

bers, especially in the off season. We send out approximately 3-4 notifications year-

ly and this will ensure all notices from MCA are received timely.

If there are any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Yours truly,

Cassie Hellmann – Treasurer / C Section Representative / Audit & Budget and WiFi Liaison

Hi everyone! I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all campers back for

another season. I hope everyone had a great winter. We have a lot of projects on-

going at camp this spring. Jon and the maintenance crew have been very busy ren-

ovating the A-Frame ladies room and adult lounge as well as getting the park ready

for the 2017 season. So when you see Jon, Dillon, Dave, and Cory give them a

wave and a thank you. The sewer project is well under way and as of this newsletter

they are waiting for some dry weather so they can continue. A new walkway, handi-

cap ramp and new concrete slabs are being installed at the front of the store in or-

der to conform with ADA standards. I would like to welcome new campers to B sec-

tion. Jim Gusky of B-4, Greg and Jenna Berry of B-13, and Mr. and Mrs. Ken

Selfridge of B-17. Again, I give my yearly plea to please conserve electricity. If you

are not using it turn it off. Be diligent, when leaving camp shut off your air condi-

tioner, t.v., radio, and all lights inside and outside. We are all in this together. If you

have any questions or problems you can contact me at lot B-6. I will do all I can to

help you.

Welcome back campers!

My name is Ellie Christopher. I replaced Jim Hogue as Section D rep. I wish Jim the

best and hope I can fill his shoes. I am really excited about this opportunity and will

serve to the best of my ability. The committees have lots of great activities planned

and our volunteers are working hard to make these events fun & profitable for the

camp.

On a personal note please feel free to contact me with any section problems or any

other issue with regards to MCA and I will do my best to find a solution or answer. If

you can't make the meetings feel free to stop by and I will fill you in. Remember this

is your campground, let's work together and continue to make MCA one of the finest

member owned campgrounds in the region.

Here's to a great 2017 season! I'm ready, are you?

Ellie Christopher / D Section Representative - Lake Liaison

Happy New Year Campers, my name is Al Walz (E-155). I was installed as the E sec-

tion representative and Store Liaison at the November BOD meeting. I would like to

say thank you to the BOD for their vote of confidence and for giving me the chance

to serve. I also would like to thank Kieth Young for also stepping up for considera-

tion to this post, because without members willing to put forth the effort, the quality

of our fine camping experience will suffer. It was once said, “that if all do a little, no

one will have to do it all.” So if you can, do! Donate a little time to a committee, all

of our functions cannot go on without volunteers, any number of these could use

your wonderful ideas and assistance. I say Happy New Year because I believe it’s a

new beginning, a new chance to get it right, a new chance to make a difference, a

new chance to have the best season you ever had. Shake off those winter blues,

put a smile on you face, shake someone’s hand and wish them the best. Say some-

thing nice, make a positive contribution and you will be rewarded. The committees

have their events listed on the webpage. Take a look, it should be a good year to

remember. You all know by now the dues have increased again his year. This is not

from a lack of effort by the Budget and Audit committee or the BOD to hold down

the assessments but the general price of life. Things cost more and we must pay for

them it’s just that simple. The Budget and Audit committee managed to keep the

dollar amount as low as possible by their endless efforts, and for this, I say thank

you. The various comfort stations throughout the park will soon be marked with

their section letters to help assist members, security, and safety units know their

location throughout the campground. The camp store will open soon, come out and

support Deb and Tony. It is always difficult to make decisions in a leadership role as

there always seems to be differences of opinion on most subjects. However I be-

lieve that this not need be the case. I believe that with discussion almost all differ-

ences can become agreement, and with agreement we all can all benefit. So let’s

all do each other a favor and let’s discuss, come to a BOD meeting express your ide-

as, and lets make MCA "The Place To Be" this year and for many years in the future

for ourselves and our children.

F RO M H S E C T I O N Greetings to all H-Section members. The 2017 camping season is upon us and it is

time to exchange the snow blowers, snow shovels and ice melt for rakes, leaf blow-

ers and lawn mowers. The signs of spring are all around us now. The flowers are

growing, there are buds growing on the trees, true signs that spring has arrived.

This is just a reminder to clear away the remnants of winter.

I am asking all MCA members to review the upcoming calendar of events and partic-

ipate through volunteering or by attending the MCA committee sponsored events.

The Memorial Pavilion has been reserved on July 1, from 2pm to 6pm for a meet

and greet for all H-Section members. An RSVP is not required however it would help

tremendously with planning a light lunch menu. Please drop by lot H-21 or send an

KIDZ KORNER

This year’s Youth Committee is planning many activities for the kids. We will be

hosting many of the traditional committee events. We are also excited about some

new activities for this year including a drive-in movie at the ballfield and a

Parent/Child dance. For the dance, we encourage the parents and kids come

dressed up for the evening. The biggest event will be Lunch with Santa. Every

Wednesday, the committee will be hosting bingo to raise funds. There will also be

other fund raising events throughout the season including a spaghetti dinner and

the selling of American Flags during the Memorial Day and 4th of July weekends.

Please refer to the events schedule for a complete listing of events.

We have a very small committee this year. Therefore, even if you do not wish to sign

up for the committee, you are more than welcome to volunteer for an event. With-

out volunteers, the committee will not be able to host these fun-filled events which

provide the kids in camp with wonderful memories.

PLEASE NOTE:

All children attending any youth committee event

must be accompanied!

Teen Committee has worked very hard on a schedule

with several events planned. We hope more teens as

well as their parents get involved this year. We will be

holding monthly meetings, and we want to hear from the

teens so we can help them have a great summer! There

is an Instagram and a Facebook page set up to stay up-

dated on pop up or canceled events. The Facebook is

“Mca Teens” and the Instagram is “mca teens”.

Teens will be holding a Cook-Out on May 28, we will be

serving hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad and deserts

which all proceeds will go towards street signs for the

campground. Teens would also like to thank Lou Camp-

bell for handing the flea markets down to us. There will

be dances, scavenger hunts, putt-putt tournaments, golf

cart washes and many more events. We will also be

opening a concession stand in our shed. Make sure you

come out and support the teens as well as the other

committees. As everyone works very hard getting things

ready for the summer, don’t forget to make this one

amazing!

Hello All Campers. We have been working with Brady Township and there will be a

few new changes happening with building permits. As we have been questioning

some of these changes, It’s going to be a while before we have all the understanda-

ble answers. Here are some of the new changes.

1. If building or buying a shed you must get a Campground Permit and a

Brady Township Zoning Permit.

2. If building a deck without a roof and it is under 30 inches from the ground you

will need a Campground Permit and a Brady Township Zoning Permit.

3. If you are building a deck over 30 inches off the ground you will need
