Introduction

The Taleo Enterprise 12C release introduced new functionalities that enable the creation of a career sectionoptimized for users of mobile devices.

Through a combination of functional and technical configurations covered in this document, candidates usingmobile devices will be better able to search for jobs and initiate the application process. A mobile career sectioncan be linked to a regular career section so that candidates who use a mobile device while accessing a job postedon both career sections will be redirected automatically to the mobile career section.

This document presents the best practices for configuring a mobile career section and optimizing the candidateexperience on mobile devices.

The decision to either replicate the standard career section experience from a data capture perspective, or tocreate a shorter, streamlined application for the mobile experience should be a deliberate and strategic one. Mostcustomers create a streamlined experience for mobile submissions.

Some mobile-specific components in the Career Section Administration section is required. Although most of theexisting features will work on mobile devices, it is recommended that you configure your mobile career sectionwith limited features and selection options. By reducing the number and types of actions to be performed onmobile devices, you will improve the user experience.

Application Flow Configuration

Creation of an application flow specific to candidates who use a mobile device is required.

The main reason for this requirement is the need for “mobile-friendly" user-defined forms. The form shouldconsist of a single column with all the fields stacked in the column.

While setting up the blocks to be used for the mobile application flow, it is recommended to:

• Enable the LinkedIn profile creation feature so that the LinkedIn icon will be displayed in the resume uploadblock for candidates.

• Keep the application flow short and easy while excluding blocks such as diversity, prescreening questions, privacy statements, source tracking, and avoiding long or complex forms.

• Use a single column layout while configuring forms.• Enable the Job Cart – this is potentially a very important feature for candidates who prefer to complete

submissions using their PC but who feel comfortable with conducting job searches on mobile devices.• Configure only the Job Title on the job results list.• Do not enable the progression bar.• Enable the “Sending a Job Submission Acknowledgement Letter for Mobile Candidate” action. This will send

a specific acknowledgement letter to mobile applicants.

Configuration

An example of a simplified application flow for mobile career sections is depicted in the following table. Notethat all career section blocks will work if included in an application flow designed for a mobile career section.

Configuration > [Career Section] Administration > Application Flows

Resume Upload Recommended:

• Enable the Profile Import from LinkedIn and/or Indeedfeature.

• Enable the text resume parsing feature. This is a settingon the block in the flow. This feature enables candidatesto paste a resume that they might have stored on, or isaccessible from their mobile device. The pasted resumeis parsed as if the candidates were uploading a document.
