Installation Information
This release is intended for new deployments only. Upgrading or migrating from previous EPM System
releases is not supported. In addition, products from this release are not compatible with products and
applications from previous releases.
2
There have been significant changes to the deployment architecture for this release. A brief summary
is provided here but for a complete list, see “New Features” and “General Installation Information” in
the Oracle® Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration
Readme.
The EPM System directory structure has changed significantly. The default directories are now
Middleware Home and EPM Oracle Home.
EPM System Installer now installs WebLogic Server (replaces Apache Tomcat as the embedded
Java container) and Oracle HTTP Server (replaces Apache Web Server as the embedded Web
server).
The manual deployment process is greatly simplified, using the Fusion Middleware Configuration
Wizard (deployed with WebLogic) to manually deploy Web applications.
The Shared Services relational database is now used as Native Directory (replaces OpenLDAP as
the central storage for native EPM System user accounts and provisioning information).
The new Foundation Services Web application is deployed to one managed server and includes
these Web applications: Shared Services, EPM Workspace, and Foundation Web Services.

Known Issues
The following issues are the noteworthy known issues of this release.
Accessibility
Defect
Number
Known Issues
9350808 Sometimes shortcut menus do not display for a data form row. When this occurs, press
Shift+Space and then Shift+F10 to display the shortcut menu. Also, if a data form
contains two dimensions in one row and both dimensions have a shortcut menu, press
Ctrl+Y to select the data form row, and then press Shift+F10 to view the shortcut menu
for the second row dimension.
9288498 When shortcut menus are open, to move focus back to the window from which the
menu opened, use the keyboard equivalent that moves focus to the original window.
8583886 Note that the keyboard equivalent to unlock a data form cell is the exclamation mark
(!). The JAWS screen reader incorrectly reads this keyboard equivalent as the
apostrophe character („).
Application Copying
Defect
Number
Known Issues
6755331 You receive a failure error using the utility if you use the or switch in the
command line, and the and files do not exist. This may occur for example, if
you use switches in conjunction with renamed files.
Application Mapping
Defect
Number
Known Issues
9382109 If you want to change an application mapping reporting application or reporting
database, create a new mapping instead of editing an existing one.
3
Defect
Number
Known Issues
9276316 If a dynamic calc sparse member is referenced from a reporting application mapping,
the selected member is ignored and all members having data in the dimension are
pushed. To avoid this issue, select a non-dynamic calc member for sparse dimensions.
If the member is a non-level 0 member, select all level 0 descendants.
Business Rules
Defect
Number
Known Issues
9346656 If you add a business rule that contains only one hidden variable to a business rule
sequence, launching the business rule sequence causes an error. To avoid this issue,
hide all variables.
9262449 After launching a business rule, refresh the data form to view business rule results.
8835089 Hide Prompt does not work with business rules that have unused local variables. For
example, this can occur for a business rule that includes a global variable and a local
variable that are used in the source code for a Planning location. If you edit the
business rule in Essbase Administration Service to remove the source code reference
to the local variable without deleting the variable from the business rule, users are
prompted to make a selection for both variables when they open the data form and
save data. To work around this, ensure that any unused local variables are removed
from business rules.
8672459 Business rules that include runtime prompts defined using a member relationship
function may not return all available members in the member selection dialog if more
than 100 members qualify.
8446743 In a clustered environment, Planning applications that are not associated with the
active cluster may be displayed in Calculation Manager.
8286645 You should not use substitution variables as the default for business rule runtime
prompts. Business Rules evaluates substitution variables only if the runtime prompt
is of type Member or Members. It does not evaluate substitution variables for
runtime prompts of type String.
7485452 When multiple business rules with one or more runtime prompts are assigned to a
data form with Run on Save checked, an error may occur when the business rules
are launched. To avoid this problem, do not assign multiple rules with runtime
prompts to data forms with Run on Save checked.
7485035 When a business rule requires ten minutes or more to run, a confirmation message
does not display. Open the Job Console page to verify that the business rule ran
successfully.
6569964,
8-541764851
If you run a business rule having a runtime prompt that is based on a relationship function (for example, ) that results in a large number of
members, the business rule can fail if the generated calculation script exceeds the
Essbase limit of 64K.
6540923,
1-219225915
If you have a sequence with one or more business rules that contain hidden runtime
prompts, you may not be able to launch the sequence. To work around this, do not
hide the runtime prompts within the rules themselves; instead, hide the runtime
prompts in the Launch Variables tab of the sequence.
4
Calculation Manager
Defect
Number
Known Issues
9438498 When a ruleset has a business rule from a target application that differs from the
current application, the member selector does not recognize the limits set on the
runtime prompt.
9293518 If you launch a ruleset and then log off during background processing, business rules
that are not launched before logoff are not completed, and their status in the Job
Console is not updated. To avoid this, do not log off until a ruleset has finished
executing.
Data Forms, Composite
Defect
Number
Known Issues
9497802 Resizing your Web browser display may cause problems with composite data form
display. To solve the problem, close the composite data form, and then reopen it.
9366374 Sometimes in composite data forms that contain members of type Text and members of
type Currency, adding supporting detail to a member of type Text may add double-
quote marks to the display in each cell for rows containing members of type Text.
9260202 When you set a common dimension within a composite data form section to Global,
Planning does not automatically set that dimension to Global for all sections within the
composite data form. To ensure that a common dimension is set to Global for all
sections within a composite data form, set that dimension to Global within each
composite data form section.
8220537 When you export a composite data form to Microsoft Excel, only the first simple data
form in the composite data form is exported.
Data Forms, General Issues
Defect
Number
Known Issues
9569516 When cells are hidden because the parent row or column is collapsed, cells are not
updated by time period spreading or Grid Spread.
9553453 When using ad hoc analysis with data forms containing multiple segments, note that
the Keep Only option applies only to the current segment.
9553435 When using ad hoc analysis with data forms containing multiple segments, member
selection applies only to the current segment.
9524468 To delete comments from multiple data form cells, select the data form cells, then
click the Comment icon in the tool bar, and then delete the comments for the
selected cells. You cannot delete comments from multiple data form cells using the
data form cell shortcut menu.
9497265 Click the drill-through icon in a data form cell to display cell data source information.
The Drill-Through item in the Edit menu does not provide a link to the cell data
source information at this time.
9493316 If you enter a date value into a data form cell that is not in the same format as your
default date settings, the year is saved incorrectly. For example, if your default date
5
Defect
Number
Known Issues
setting is mm/dd/yyyy, and you enter 10 instead of 2010 for the year, the year is
saved incorrectly as 0010. To avoid this, enter years based on your default date
settings.
9484602 If you pivot a dimension to Page, an error occurs if you select Zoom In for that
dimension in a data form that has more than three columns, and one of the columns
is a formula column.
9480484 When using the Mozilla Firefox browser, scroll bars in data forms do not work.
To resolve this issue, set the focus on any cell displayed in the data form before using
the horizontal or vertical scroll bars. After the selected cell scrolls off the screen, set
the focus on another cell.
9469112 When working with a data form in Ad-Hoc mode, the sort order is not retained in
some cases. For example, if you sort a list of entity members in a row in ascending
order, the sort order is not retained after you move a dimension on the page to the
right or pivot a dimension from the page to the POV.
9468509 When sorting and filtering rows and columns in a data form, the filter results are not
as expected if you first sort and then filter. To work around this, first filter the rows
and columns, and then sort them.
9439168 Planning does not currently support ad hoc analysis for data forms with rows and
columns containing missing data if the “Suppress missing data” option is set.
9438975 After you work with a data form in Ad-Hoc mode, formula rows and columns are not
displayed.
9438931 Planning does not currently support ad hoc analysis for data forms with the “Suppress
missing blocks” option set.
9372617 When you add a validation rule to a data form, you must save the data form before
the validation rule is available when you preview the data form.
9328504 Click within a data form cell and select the drill through icon to display source data.
Using the Drill Through option in the Edit menu can cause web browser problems.
9321999 To ensure that data form document attachments open, include “workspace” in the
document URL, but do not include http://.
9319975 If “Suppress missing blocks” is set for a data form, a user may have write access to
members for which they are assigned only read access.
9306080 When you set or clear the “Hide dimension” or “Start expanded” dimension display
property, the change is not displayed in the data form preview until after you save
the data form.
9284400 Using the ampersand character (&) in data form names can cause issues.
9197682 When entering numbers that are formatted to use both commas and periods, you
cannot use the dot character on a Number Keypad as a decimal separator when you
enter numbers into a data form. If you do, data may be interpreted incorrectly.
9128061 In data form cells, values with four decimal places use a comma delimiter. Some
locales use different delimiters, which may cause problems.
9094156 If Dynamic Time Series members are used in the Page or POV axis, when the data
form is refreshed, selections on the Page or POV axis prior to the refresh do not
persist.
9054504 When you edit values in a data form cell, press Enter or Tab, or click another data
form cell to keep the new value (note that this action does not save the new value to
6
Defect
Number
Known Issues
the database). Pressing any other key may delete the new value from the data form
display and replace it with the old value.
9047859 When you right-click in a cell, select Insert Comment, and then enlarge the
window, the size of the text entry area does not change. To work around this, you
can enlarge the comment area by clicking the column header and resizing the window
horizontally.
9020384 The message “The Accessibility Mode preference has been changed. Logout and
restart the browser for this change to take effect.” is displayed the first time users
modify user variables. Ignore this message; no error has occurred.
8997610 If the data form grid property “Suppress missing blocks” is set, selecting dimension
members individually rather than using Essbase functions can result in access
permission issues. For example, a user with read-only access to a member may be
able to edit that member.
8981954 Sometimes, user access permissions can change the order in which data form rows
are displayed.
8911320 In data form rows or columns, if you use the ISiblings() function to select a
dimension that is selected as a user variable, the selected member is not displayed in
the data form. This can occur, for example, if you create a user variable for a
dimension, select the variable in preferences, create a data form, and then use the
ISiblings function to select the user variable for a row or column. When you open the
data form, the siblings of the selected member are not displayed.
To work around this, when creating the data form, use the ISiblings function to select
the member directly instead of selecting a user variable. The member will be
displayed correctly in the data form.
8862285 Using Find from the browser Edit menu to locate a data form member displays the
specified member. However, the member value displayed may be incorrect due to
grid display problems.
8735071 When Dynamic Time Series (DTS) members are available, selecting period members
in data forms causes an error.
8707428 When you export data forms using FormDefUtil.cmd, do not use colons in data form
names.
8640354 If you open a hidden data form from another data form using a shortcut menu, the
data form is opened but the left pane does not display the business rules associated
with the hidden data form. To avoid this issue, reset the Hide option for the data
form.
8636593 Problems with submitting data, refreshing data, or running business rules may occur
if users work with more than one data form simultaneously.
8585767 If you create a composite data form from an existing composite data form using Save
As and move the new data form to a different data form folder, the business rules
defined for the original composite data form may not be transferred to the new data
form.
8579404 Hiding more than one dimension in a data form can cause Microsoft Internet Explorer
to stop functioning.
8540616 Sometimes data cell values are stored in the database using a different precision than
the values entered. This may cause minor data errors.
8309383 In multicurrency application data forms, you cannot copy a value from a cell
formatted for a thousands separator other than None to a cell with a thousands
7
Defect
Number
Known Issues
separator set to None.
8209856 When Grid Spread is enabled for a data form and you enter a value for YearTotal, the
value is spread to quarters and months correctly. However, if you enter a new value
for YearTotal, very slight rounding errors can occur. This is a known JavaScript issue.
8207900 For data forms with hidden dimensions, column width is always set to Size-to-Fit.
7634795 Selecting Show Member Properties from the data form shortcut menu results in a
JavaScript error if the Suppress Missing Data option is set for the data form.
7626059 When data of type Text is deleted from data forms, it is not deleted from the Essbase
database.
7568207 You cannot display user variable aliases in the data form POV.
7451495 Shared member hierarchies are not displayed correctly in data forms when the
Suppress Missing Blocks property is set.
7420399 On a large data form with many rows, when you press Ctrl+F to search for a
member, the data form does not move and is not aligned with the found row. This
makes it difficult to scroll or tab to the found row to enter data.
7418009 If a data form contains asymmetric rows or columns, and you use one or more
substitution variables exclusively in the asymmetric portion of the data form, the
substitution variable(s) do not display in a report.
7393978 Data that is added using supporting detail is not immediately aggregated correctly.
To get the correct aggregation numbers, you must refresh and save the data form,
then double-click the cell having the supporting detail.
6591729 After exporting data from a Planning data form to Excel, you cannot retrieve data in
the Essbase Spreadsheet Addin if Planning member names contain a space.
6567496,
8-552782701
To prevent subtotals for cells whose Data Type is set to Smart List, Data, or Text, set
their Storage option to Never Share.
Data Sources
Defect
Number
Known Issues
6960784 You must restart the Planning application server service if the Oracle database housing
Planning metadata is restarted.
6958098 If you change the default port number for Essbase, 1423, to another number during
Essbase configuration, the URL given for the Essbase server when creating a data source must have the format . For example, if the port
number for the Essbase server is set to 1400 during configuration and the Essbase
server is run on the local machine, the URL is .
Dimensions and Members
Defect
Number
Known Issues
9401222 When using the Two Pass Calculation property with percentage values, the results
may not vary whether the property is set or not.
8
Defect
Number
Known Issues
9328259 In Performance Management Architect Planning applications, to correctly aggregate
data in the Time Period dimension, change the Consolidation operator on the Period
parent member from Ignore to Addition.
9311776 Although you can select a non-level 0 member for the Reporting Application POV or
an account associated with a Smart List in an application mapping, data is not
copied when you run Push Data. Select only level 0 members in both situations to
resolve the issue.
8636227 Planning does not allow numeric attribute dimensions with duplicate attribute
values. For example, the numeric attribute dimension Weight and the numeric
attribute dimension Amount cannot both have an attribute value of two.
8556659 Shared Account members do not inherit the Data Type of their base members on
data forms.
6964065 You cannot modify alias names to match those of their members. You can however,
modify member names to match alias names.
6542159,
1-237456354
With Planning, if you use the Essbase Dynamic Time Series Y-T-D (year-to-date) or
P-T-D (period-to-date), you must update the corresponding Planning dimension
names. This is because two default Planning dimensions, Year and Period, have the
same name as members used in the Dynamic Time Series.
To work around this, modify the names of the Year and Period dimension. For
Classic applications, rename them in Planning. For Performance Management
Architect applications, rename these dimensions before loading them from a flat file.
You can also use a different Dynamic Time Series member than Y-T-D or P-T-D,
such as S-T-D (season-to-date).
8-523841924 YearTotal and Period are read-only unless one member for each summary time
period between YearTotal and the level 0 members is included in the data form
definition.
Display Issues
Defect
Number
Known Issues
7279720 On screens with low resolution (for example, 800 by 600), the Close button for the
Search box isn‟t visible until the Search box is dragged to the left.
Exchange Rate Tables
Defect
Number
Known Issues
9194390 If an Exchange Rate Table contains only values for Beginning Balance (Beg Bal) and
Historical rates, those values are not refreshed to Essbase when Planning is refreshed.
To work around this, enter an Average or Ending rate and then save the table.
7441962 When entering information in the exchange rate table, you must enter only numeric
values, even if you set the separator options in the Currency dimension. The Currency
dimension properties do not apply to exchange rate table entries.

Financial Data Quality Management
Defect
Number
Known Issues
FDM drill through is not available for Planning applications if you install FDM using a
method other than the one provided in the Hyperion Enterprise Performance
Management System Installation and Configuration Guide. To resolve this, you must set
an additional application property for FDM.
Note: When you install FDM using the standard installation procedure, do not set this
property because it overrides a property stored in the Registry for the FDM server.
To make FDM data available to a Planning application if FDM is not installed using the
standard installation procedure:
1. Log on to the application with which you want to use FDM data.
2. Select Administration, and then Manage Properties.
3. In the Application Properties tab, click Add, then add this property name: .
4. Specify the location where FDM is installed as the property value. For example:
5. Click Save and restart the application server.
Note: Setting this property is also useful if you install FDM on a different server and
want to override the property stored in the Registry for the FDM server.
Hyperion Application Link
Application Link is not available to new customers for purchase. It is supported for customers who
purchased it previously and are already using it.
Localization
Defect
Number
Known Issues
9436054 If you are using Turkish, before initializing Capital Asset Planning, Workforce Planning,
or Public Sector Planning and Budgeting, you must set your Web browser language to
Turkish (tr). If you do not, English--not Turkish--members are populated during
initialization.
9341459 To ensure that multi-byte characters display in reports, refer to “Multibyte Characters”
in Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and
Configuration Troubleshooting Guide. To see the correct language glyph reflected in the reports, you must also make the fonts available in the directory. The
Planning directory points to the location
.
8970964 Planning does not support non-ASCII characters for passwords, such as Russian
characters.
8292737 If you use Planning in a locale other than English and use the Planning Outline Load
utility to load a date value into a Date account, the system may display the message
“Incorrect format.” Although the date value is not loaded, the utility continues to load
other data values. If this occurs, you must enter the date values manually in the
Planning data form.
10
Defect
Number
Known Issues
7639511 Oracle recommends limiting planning unit annotations to 1200 characters or fewer in
Japanese due to sporadic issues with longer planning unit annotations.
7446781 When a data form name exceeds 80 Cyrillic characters and contains multiple members
in page dimensions whose names also exceed 80 Cyrillic characters, the page may
cause an error or display a blank screen after clicking Go. This issue only occurs when
connecting to Planning directly, rather than through EPM Workspace. To avoid this
issue, use shorter data form and member names when using the Cyrillic alphabet.
Logging On
Defect
Number
Known Issues
If you are using Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition and Enhanced Security is
enabled in your browser, the Logon page does not display correctly. To work around
this, add the site to the list of trusted sites for your browser.
9114301 In the Planning Logon page, when updating an existing name in the User Name field,
you cannot select the text by double-clicking or dragging the cursor across it. To work
around this, you can click in the field, and then press the Backspace key to remove an
existing name.
8665119 Users may not be able to log on to Planning applications if another user with the same
name exists in the external provider.
Member Selector
Defect
Number
Known Issues
9443162 Using an apostrophe („) in a member name can cause initial display problems in the
Member Selector list. If this issue occurs, click OK, and then display the member range
to correct the Member Selector list display.
9377076 Click the Member Selector icon to select data form members in the Layout page. Using
Select Members from the shortcut menu can result in no members selected.
9307905 Copy Versions uses the setting in Preferences rather than the application default for the
member selection option “Show alias in member selection”.
Migration
Defect
Number
Known Issues
9216754 For this release, you cannot use the utility to update users who were
moved from one external repository to another. This utility is described in
"Synchronizing Users and Groups with the UpdateUsers Utility" in the Oracle Hyperion
Planning Administrator's Guide.
9216311 For the current release, the Migrate Identities button is not supported. It cannot be
used to migrate a user or group's changed identity or position in the user directory from
the Shared Services Console to Planning, as described in these topics in the Oracle
Hyperion Planning Administrator's Guide:

Known Issues
9377924 You get an error if you try to open a data form in Offline mode if a condition in the
data form is not supported. For example, Offline mode does not support:
A data form definition that has an Essbase substitution variable assigned to the
Page dimension.
An invalid data form definition (for example, no rows or no columns).
User-created substitution variables or dynamic substitution members (dynamic
POV).
8655540 If a function (for example, ) is used to select page
members within a Planning data form and only shared members are selected due to
security, an error occurs if you take the data form offline in Smart View.
7230774 Shared members do not display in the member selection page when you take a data
form offline. However, you can see the shared members when you view the data
form in Smart View.
6569522 If a data form contains dynamically-calculated members, those members are not
available when the data form is taken offline.
6562493,

Online Help
Defect
Number
Known Issues
9372562 Oracle recommends that you access Planning and online help from within EPM
Workspace. To access Planning online help, log in to EPM Workspace, open a Planning
application, and then select an option from the Help menu, as described in the product
documentation.
Although it is not supported, it is possible to access Planning and online help in
standalone mode from outside EPM Workspace. To view online help in this mode, launch
Planning with Oracle HTTP Server (OHS), which runs on port 19000, as in this example: .
If Oracle HTTP server is running on a different port, substitute that port for 19000, for
example, .
Note: If you launch Planning without using Oracle HTTP Server, you cannot view online
help. If you attempt to view online help using a different port, as in this example, , the message Page Not Found is
displayed.
Planning Adapters
The DIM Adapter for Planning loads information only into Classic applications. Load information into
Performance Management Architect applications using a flat file.
Planning Administration
Defect
Number
Known Issues
9280345 If Planning stops (for example, the Planning server is restarted), the status of jobs
that were processing at the time display as “Processing” in the Job Console. You
cannot delete these jobs using the Job Console, nor do they get deleted by the purge
feature.
9155729 User sessions created when business rules associated with Planning locations are
edited or run in the Administration Services Console are not deleted when the
Administration Services Console closes. The user sessions related to the business
rules persist until the Planning service is restarted or the Business rule session
created in Planning times out.
8826998 As documented in the Oracle Hyperion Planning Administrator’s Guide and the Oracle
Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management Architect Administrator’s Guide,
Planning does not allow members with the same names as Report Writer commands.
If a member with the same name as a Report Writer command is added in
Performance Management Architect, Planning deployment fails.

Defect
Number
Known Issues
8735066 Copying data uses a large amount of memory for the Essbase application process,
and an error is displayed during data copy.
8603489 When you change user preferences from EPM Workspace and then select one of the
modified users as a user variable in a data form, the error message "An Error
occurred while processing this page. Check the log for details." may be displayed.
8197403 If you create or refresh security filters for a large number of users within Planning,
an error may display, and you may be directed to the Logon page. To work around this, you can use the utility to synchronize changes in users and
groups.
7339571 To set the Planning application system property:
1. Select Administration, and then Manage Properties.
2. Select System Properties to set properties for all Planning applications.
3. Click Add.
4. In the blank row, enter the property name as (avoid using spaces).
5. Under Property Value, enter the URL to include in the workflow e-mail.
6. Click Save and confirm your changes.
7. Stop and then restart the application server. Properties are saved in the system database table, which by default is located in the

9497077 If you create a business rule, assign it to a data form, and set the Run on Save
option, do not use Mass Allocate with that data form. If you use Mass Allocate with
the data form, only the Calculate Data Form and Calculate Currencies business
rules run.
9496149 Sometimes, special characters in member names, such as the question mark (?) or
equal sign (=), are truncated in the Member Selector members list.
9457036 During Push Data for reporting application mapping with localized non-Unicode
Planning and reporting applications, if Essbase or Planning is on a UNIX
environment, Planning displays errors about not finding dimension or member names. To work around this, set a property in the
file, installed by default in
. This
property allows Planning to generate export and transformation files based on the Essbase setting.
For example, on a UNIX environment, when mapping reporting applications for
Traditional Chinese applications, if ESSLANG is set as
"ESSLANG="TraditionalChinese_Taiwan.EUC-TW@Binary"", set the JVM
22

Defects Fixed In This Release
parameter to -Dcom.hyperion.planning.codepage=EUC-TW (even though LANG is
set to the big5 codepage, "LANG="Zh_TW.big5"").
Make sure the value set in
matches the value set for the Essbase server. Setting the
property will not resolve these errors if the Planning and Reporting applications are
located on Essbase servers using different ESSLANG variables or settings.
9443874 When using Turkish, set the Web Browser language to Turkish, but do not include
Turkish characters in the Planning application name. Turkish characters in the
application name cause currency conversion to fail.
9409103 To browse for a document to attach to a data form cell, ensure that Financial
Reporting is installed and configured. This product provides the file repository for
these documents.
9395872
If you select Assign Owners and then select Expand Descendants to assign planning
unit access, you cannot choose the first user in the list. To avoid this problem,
change the number of records displayed. To reduce the number of records
displayed, use the Expand or Collapse member icons on the Owners tab, or change
the number of records displayed in User Preferences.
9387269 Runtime prompt windows may not provide a member or segment selection icon if
you did not add Smart List entries for the data to select in the window. For
example, when adding a default account to a natural account, you cannot select a
segment unless you previously specified a Smart List entry.
9377485 The “Reapply settings on each move” option is unnecessary. Planning automatically
applies the rules that determine whether a planning unit or entity is included in
process management each time a member is added to the planning unit hierarchy.
9321997 You cannot add comments or cell-level documents to formula row or formula
column cells.
9307905 Copy Versions uses the setting for the member selection option Show Alias in
Member Selection set in User Preferences. If the setting for this option in Copy
Versions is different, running the utility does not produce the expected result.
9253724 The Planning Unit Hierarchy load behavior differs from other dimension loads in
that the import file specifies a complete replacement of the hierarchy instead of
incremental changes, as is the case when loading other dimensions. Loading
planning unit hierarchies first deletes all members of the Planning Unit Hierarchy,
and then adds each member specified in the input file as a "new" member. It is
important to keep in mind that a planning unit hierarchy load deletes an existing
member and its children from the hierarchy if the member is not specified in the
input file.
9077691 Broadcast Messages functionality is now available only to administrators, not to
Planner and Interactive user types.
9075696 In Japanese, when you try to save a planning unit annotation with a title longer
than 16 characters, an error is displayed.
9050411 You can now reuse task lists after their completion by clearing the status, due
dates, and alerts for all tasks in a task list.
9032135 Microsoft Excel restricts worksheet tab names to thirty-one characters. Composite
data form display names that are longer than this limit are truncated to thirty-one
characters when displayed as tab names in composite data forms in Smart View.

8600688 You cannot clear due dates and alerts from tasks.
8591316 You can use Tasks Lists from a previous planning cycle as the templates for
upcoming cycles.
8587863 In a Classic Planning application, if the name of the Capital Asset Planning plan
type is changed to something other than Capex, the plan type is still created with
the name Capex.
8587402 You do not experience high network traffic due to a large number of unnecessary
HTTP requests.
8587295 You can search for members by alias in runtime prompt windows.
8568076 You can use the Import and Export Utilities with Real Application Clusters (RAC).
8561355 Deployment does not fail due to source plan types becoming “None” and uneditable

8527999 You can limit the users in different management levels to whom others can
promote plans for review and approval. This enables you to quickly ensure that
only the appropriate users receive plans.
8514450 The e-mail address of any user who promotes or approves data is used as the
sending address in workflow notifications.
8513538 To avoid confusion and data loss, creating and refreshing Essbase databases are
performed separately. Additionally, you are notified that creating an Essbase
database permanently deletes all other Essbase databases used in your application,
and all associated calculation scripts and data.
8475614 To facilitate troubleshooting for large user numbers, the System Out log is not
updated when forms using “add-hoc all members” are opened.
8440251 All user variables for forms that use the “Enable Dynamic User Variables” option
are properly migrated during Life Cycle Management.
8372616 User variables do not work as Smart List members.
8365274 When data forms are exported to Microsoft Excel, the Microsoft Excel window
cannot be resized.
8350101 The PDF version of the task list report always shows the number of overdue tasks
as zero.
8323388 If you select a custom column width in column properties and hide two dimensions
in a data form, the custom column width is applied correctly if the last dimension in
the selection is visible. However, the custom column width is not applied to the
data form if the last column in the selection is hidden.
8319836 The e-mail server name can be updated only by the application owner. However,
no error message displays if a non-application owner tries to update the e-mail
server name.
8315413 If you create a business rule in Calculation Manager that contains a runtime prompt
variable of type Member, and then attach the business rule to a Planning data form
with both User Members on Data Form and Hide Prompt set, you cannot save any
values you edit in the data form.
8288565 Data forms do not support shared members as runtime prompts.
8281619 When Planning data forms include hidden segments, columns and rows are
displayed if the data form is retrieved from Smart View.
8280228 When using Planning in a locale other than English, to create a particular task list
report a second time, close and reopen the application first.
8262080 When you select Hyperion, then Forms, then Take Offline in a locale other than
English, the wizard displays in English, rather than the expected locale.
8259635 For planners, the search feature is available in data forms, but an error is displayed
when they attempt to search.
8255534 If you are using a Planning application in the Traditional Chinese locale and that
application was upgraded from Classic Planning, one or two of the Workforce
Planning business rules that you migrated and deployed after the upgrade may not
display in that application. To correct this situation if it occurs, redeploy the missing
business rule or rules.
8251279 When you use any Capital Asset Planning business rule that uses a date as a
runtime prompt, make sure that the Date format is set to an option other than

Automatically Detect. Using this option with these business rules may cause
problems with the date.
8233475 If you hide the first of two dimensions associated with a data form column, opening
the data form causes the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser to stop responding.
You must clear the hidden setting for the column dimension to resolve the issue.
7830283 When running a Business Rule in Essbase Administration Services and selecting a
dimension member for a runtime prompt, not all the dimension members are listed
and some members are listed twice.
7829503 At times, the upper part of the masthead may be partially hidden behind the
browser toolbar. For example, this can occur in Basic Mode if you work on a task
that has a subordinate task, and then expand the task list in the view pane. It can
also occur when you open a data form, launch one of its business rules from the
Business Rule page, and then close the status message at the top of the page.
7678381 Member aliases for Scenario and Version dimensions are not displayed on the
Manage Process page when the Preferences option Show Planning Units as Aliases
is set.
7667635 When you are working with a Capital Asset Planning application, setting Date
Format within Preferences does not affect the date format. It defaults to MM-DD-
YYYY no matter what format you select. To format a date differently, manually
enter the date format, rather than set it using Date Format.
7661707
When Smart List members are summed in top-down versions, they display in data
forms as the sum of the Smart Lists IDs. This does not occur when Smart List
members are summed in bottom-up versions. To work around this, set the
Aggregation option to Never to prevent rollups to parent members.
7600996 Error messages are not displayed when users enter more than 255 characters in a
data cell of type Text or enter a date in a data cell of type Date that is not of the

Oracle Hyperion Planning Administrator's Guide
Chapter 8, "Managing the Budgeting Process”
“Distributed Budgeting”
The description of distributed budgeting should be replaced with this information:
Budget data is entered at the leaf level of the organization, and ownership starts at the top level of
the organization. Ownership is then distributed down the organization hierarchy. After ownership
reaches the lower levels, budgets are submitted back to the top through the approval process. The
top budget group owner reviews, approves, and loads the budgets for budgetary control,
transaction control, and reporting.
“Starting and Supporting the Review Process”
28
The procedure for “Starting and Supporting the Review Process” includes steps for validating planning
units that are performed by end users. These steps should be included in a new topic on “Validating
Planning Units” in the user‟s guide. In addition, several steps need to be corrected. The following
updated procedure should replace “Starting and Supporting the Review Process” in the Oracle Planning
Administrator’s Guide:
Starting and Supporting the Review Process
After administrators start the review process, the planning unit moves from one reviewer to
another until the budget process is complete. The selected process management template
determines the first user to review the budget.
To start the review process:
1. Select Tools, and then Manage Process.
2. For Scenario, select a scenario.
3. For Version, select a version.
4. Click Go to display the planning units associated with the selected scenario and version
combination.
The planning units listed are enabled for process management.
If no planning units are started with the selected scenario and version, and you view the page in
flat view, this message is displayed: “You have not assigned a Planning Unit Hierarchy to the
selected Scenario and Version combination.”
5. Select Tree View and then, in Plan Cycle, click Start to start the planning unit.
Note: If the planning unit hierarchy uses the Bottom Up template, selecting Start starts the
planning unit and runs the Originate action. These actions set the user defined as the planning unit
owner in the planning unit hierarchy as the current owner, and the planning unit status changes to
Under Review.
6. Optional: Select Exclude to remove a planning unit from the planning process or from being
tracked in the system.
Important: After you exclude a planning unit, all associated annotations and history are
discarded. Planning unit status is returned to Not Started and the owner is set to No Owner. Data
values are retained.
Chapter 13, “Customizing Planning Web Client”
“Customizing States”
This state should be deleted from the list: Under Assistance.
“Customizing Actions”
These actions should be deleted from the list: Need Assistance, Return.
Appendix B, Naming Restrictions for Essbase, "Naming Restrictions for Dimensions,
Members, Aliases, and Data Forms"
Add "local" to the list of words that should not be used as dimension or member names.

Oracle Hyperion Planning User’s Guide
Chapter 9, “Managing Planning Units”
“Overview of the Review Process”
The list of states in Step 6 should include the following updates:
These states should be removed from this topic:
o Under Assistance
o Need Assistance
o Return
These states should be added to the list:
o Submit: Submit the planning unit to the next level
o Submit to Top: Give ownership to the top user defined in the hierarchy
o Reopen: Reopen an approved planning unit
“Changing Planning Unit Status”
The definition for “Take Ownership” should be replaced with this definition:
Take Ownership: Become the owner of the planning unit and any level 0 planning units under a
selected parent planning unit. Available to the current user and users above the current planning
unit owner in the planning unit hierarchy.
This state should be removed from this topic: Need Assistance.
“Validating Planning Units”
The procedure for “Starting and Supporting the Review Process” in the Oracle Hyperion Planning
Administrator’s Guide includes steps for validating planning units that are performed by end users.
These steps should be included in a topic on “Validating Planning Units” in the user‟s guide. Also, alert
notifications are sent if users set appropriate process management e-mail options in preferences.
The following topic should be added to the Oracle Hyperion Planning User’s Guide after the topic on
“Viewing Planning Unit Status.”
Validating Planning Units
The planning unit moves from one reviewer to another until the budget process is complete. Each
reviewer must validate the planning unit before sending the budget to the next reviewer. The
validation runs all data validation rules defined for the planning unit with which the reviewer is
working, and reports any data errors or changes in the planning unit promotional path.
The selected process management template determines the first user to review the budget. The
first user completes the assigned tasks, then promotes (Bottom Up template) or submits
(Distribute template) the budget. If process management notifications are set in preferences, the
next owner is alerted that the budget requires attention. Other users may also be notified when the
budget passes from one user to another.
The review process follows the promotional path unless an event triggers a change. Events that
affect the promotional path include:
Exceeding or not reaching expense boundaries for budget items such as salaries, new hires or
capital equipment
The current owner returning the budget to the previous owner for additional information
30
The current owner requesting help from an authorized user who is not necessarily on the
promotional path
To validate planning units:
1. Select Tools, and then Manage Process.
2. For Scenario, select a scenario.
3. For Version, select a version.
4. Click Go to display the planning units associated with the selected scenario and version
combination.
The planning units listed are enabled for process management. You can display planning unit
members as a tree or a flat list, expand the hierarchy, and click a column header to sort the list.
5. Order the planning unit list by its contents by right-clicking the column heading in any column
containing . Filter the list by double-clicking in a column heading to open the Filter dialog box,
and then selecting options appropriate for the column.
For detailed information on ordering and filtering planning units, see steps 5 and 6 in “Viewing
Planning Unit Status.”
6. Select Flat View, select the planning unit, and then click Validate to run all data validation
rules associated with the planning unit.
If the conditions in all associated data validation rules are met, the message “No Additional
Approval Needed” is displayed in Sub-Status. This indicates that the planning unit can be
promoted.
7. If any other message is displayed, review the data validation report, and take any necessary
actions. See “Viewing and Resolving Planning Unit Validation Problems.”
Note: You cannot validate a planning unit that has not been started.
Note: Selecting Promote also runs the validation rules defined for the planning unit. If the
conditions in all associated data validation rules are met, the planning unit is promoted to the next
owner defined in the planning unit promotional path. If the data validation rule results in a planning
unit owner assignment, the planning unit is promoted to this owner, who may be different than the
owner defined in the planning unit promotional path. If the data validation rule results in a Do not
Promote action, the planning unit is not promoted, and the planning unit‟s Sub-Status is updated to
“Failed: Invalid Data.”
“Viewing and Resolving Planning Unit Validation Problems”
This task is performed by end users, so this topic should be included in the Oracle Hyperion Planning
User’s Guide instead of the Oracle Hyperion Planning Administrator’s Guide.
Viewing and Resolving Planning Unit Validation Problems
When planning unit validation returns a message indicating a problem, review the validation report,
correct any data errors found, and take any other necessary actions.
To view and resolve validation problems:
1. Check the message in Sub-Status for the planning unit, and make the necessary changes to fix
the problem.
31
The possible problem messages in Sub-Status are:
Failed: Unexpected error
Failed: Not Enough Access
Failed: No Rule Defined For Action
Failed: Unauthorized New Owner
Failed: Incorrect Owner Specified
Failed: Invalid Data
Failed: Additional Approval Required
Failed: Ambiguous Automatic User
Failed: Circular Out of Office
Failed: No Essbase Connection
2. If the message is “Failed: Invalid Data,” or “Failed: Additional Approval Required,” click the
message to view the validation report, and then find and resolve the problems as follows:
a. Review the validation report messages.
Depending on whether you are working in EPM Workspace or Standalone Planning, the
validation report opens in a new tab or a new browser window.
b. In the left pane, click each page name to view the data forms containing the error or
message, and then click each page combination to open the data form and display its validation
errors and messages.
c. Resolve any data errors and take any necessary actions for each page, and then click Save
to save the changes.
d. Close the tab or browser to close the validation report, and then select the Process
Management page.
e. Click Validate again to ensure that the planning unit no longer has any validation problems.
If problems exist, fix them, and revalidate until all problems are resolved.
“Adding or Viewing Planning Unit Annotations”
Users can add clickable URLs to planning unit annotations. Step 7 of this topic should include the
following information about entering URLs in the Annotation field:
You can enter a URL that will display as a hyperlink when the annotation is viewed.
Index
The following index term should be removed from this guide: Need Assistance.
