Abstract

The client was using mainframes as their core system, along with 30+ supporting systems to support various functions in the business. They wanted to replace all these disparate systems with one single source of truth, and hence decided to implement the Oracle E-Business Suite.

L&T Infotech provided architectural solution for the gaps between the client’s business process and Oracle ERP, and developed custom components to fill the gaps in their complex business process. We also implemented a comprehensive Business Intelligence Architecture and provided a robust & agile integration solution to centralize their 90 legacy systems.

Background

The client is one of the world's largest and most diversified producers of specialty metals. They manufacture precision Titanium, Nickel, Cobalt and Iron-based alloys. They are a supplier for various industry segments, including Aerospace, Defense, Biomedical and Nuclear Power, with highly critical applications.

The client was using multiple systems for various business processes and it had become complex for their in-house IT team to manage and support all these third party applications and diverse technologies. They wanted to move away from legacy systems and implement an ERP at seven of their plants. The client wanted to completely change all the paper documents sign-offs to ERP transactions, and improve manufacturing life cycle through the implementation.
