1.Who we are

• KAMU Mutual Plan Ltd is a private housing company founded by Rwandans in 2014, that aims to provide the good quality and affordable houses to its members and improve their social and economic welfare.

• This company has its birth from an informal savings organization, called KAMU; that has been created in 2010.

• It is based in Rwanda, and its office is located at Kacyiru sector, Amajyambere Village.

2.What we do

• Provide good quality and affordable houses to members; ( In process)

• Provide social supports in case of wedding, death or maternity; ( It works)

• Provide the advance on savings to the members ( It works)

• Paying a fixed amount to a member by his peers on rotation basis; ( It works)

• Assist the members in retirement planning. ( Not yet implemented)

3.How we do it• Make our monthly meetings into small

groups of members, called KAMU Clubs;• In monthly meeting, the members loudly

make a reminder of what they believe ( vision); the values and taboos;

• KAMU members submit their bank slips, and receive a lump sum on a rotational basis;

• Referral marketing strategy is used to bring a large number of members.

4.Where we are now• 100 shareholders who are members at the

same time, they contribute $4125 every month; accumulated savings for everyone is $1000 and the total share capital is $125 000.

• 3 savings clubs composed by 5 committees.• Governance structure: Arbitration board, Board

of directors, Board of auditors • Value of assets: Houses and lands of $64500• Operating capacity: 1 paid employee; Technical

team, Clubs committees, an office.

5.What we plan to do next

• Construction of affordable houses for members.

• Development of software for automation of all KAMU operations.

• Recruitment and training of commercial agents;• Extension of the KAMU model at national level

by recruiting one million members.• Define the feasible way to assist the members

in retirement planning

6.What partnership we are looking for

With a structured demand and organized people through the savings clubs, called KAMU clubs, we are looking for visionary investors with whom we can realize together the project of construction of affordable residential houses for 100 members.

7. What the feasibility study showed

• The construction of 100 apartments is expected to cost USD 1,8 million

• KAMU members will finance the share of 10% in terms of acquisition of required land ( 75.000 square meters);

• The interested investor will finance 90% of the project ;• The operation of land acquisition is in process, and 3.000

square meters have been paid; • And when the houses are ready, the bank will provide the

mortgage loans to KAMU members for paying the houses before occupying them.
