Youth Opportunities Fair!

On the 1st of March this year, young people in Brighton & Hove got the chance to find out about all the local opportunities within the city (many of which are featured in this magazine!) through attending the Youth Opportunities Fair 2012 at Hove Town Hall. The Youth Employability Service hosted the event, which saw a range of providers offering a huge range of opportunities including apprenticeships, personal development programmes, college courses and job vacancies which young people could sign up to on the day. Young people also got the chance to try their hands at the many different kinds of skills on offer - from hairdressing to bricklaying - and could even buy T-Shirts made by a local foundation learning business and enterprise group! Local music course providers showcased their skills with performances throughout the day and over 40 young people signed up for one of the many opportunities on offer. The event was an overwhelming success, and we received some great feedback from those who attended: “It was very good I got some good information for what I want to do in the future” “Everyone was very helpful and also very friendly, also didn’t have to queue to speak to people” Missed out? Don’t panic! Check out this magazine for a range of the opportunities which were on offer, or contact your Employability Adviser to find the right opportunity for you - and watch this space - we hope to deliver a repeat event later in the year!
