1212The Smart The Smart SystemsSystems, and the , and the relatedrelated technologiestechnologies, are , are amongamong the the strategicstrategic objectivesobjectives in Italy, in Italy, asas confirmedconfirmed byby the the programprogram on “Smart on “Smart CitiesCities” ” recentlyrecently launchedlaunched byby MIURMIUR
Conclusions
• The photonic technologies cross both horizontally, as strongly enabling technologies, and vertically, with excellence in some areas, the Italian industrythe Italian industry
• Photonics is one of the core technologies onto which the Italian industry, and Finmeccanica in particular, builds the competitive d t f it d tadvantage of its products
• The new complex scenarios, the so called “Smart Systems”, point to Photonics as one of the main enabling technologies
• The participation in a PPP, in the frame of the future H2020 program, will strengthen the "country system" in the field of Photonics, feed its innovation and boost its competitiveness at international level.
